Let’s Cause Chaos Today (Other Friends Caleb Hayes and Play With Fire by Sam Tinnesz and Yacht Money and BIRDS OF A FEATHER by Billie Eilish)
The three boys walked through the halls on their way to the Great Hall talking, and laughing holding hands or with arms around the other’s shoulders. Getting strange looks of confusion, doubt, and fear from people wherever they walked, from the Slytherin common room, and even more from the professors when they reached the great hall. On their way, Sirius asks Severus why he can’t talk about Remus’s ‘condition’ and Severus decides to tell Sirius and Bruce the truth. Sirius glances at them both and says “When we are done with the plan I’m going to bring the power of the name ‘Black’ on Dumbledore.” As they walk into the Great Hall Sirius glances over his shoulder and sees the Mauraders and co., along with GRANT CHAPMAN.
Sirius glances at Severus gives him a murderous look and whispers a quiet “Now Snape..” Without hesitation, Severus lets out a loud laugh causing those who weren't already paying attention to them to turn their necks with incredulous looks on their faces. “Sirius we’re friends, if I can call you by your first name, you can call me by mine. Romulus. Romulus Severus and don’t you forget it.” Severus says with an amused chuckle and a wink at the end to show he is joking about the last statement.
Across the Hall, the Mauraders pause in a cold eerie silence as the Mauraders and their friends slowly turn to Remus to gauge his reaction. His face was blank but all of them could see the tears falling from his face, and just as they turn around to prepare to yell at Sirius they saw him quickly making his way towards the headmaster. Nobody was ready for Sirius’ next words “Excuse me Headmaster I would like to speak with you?” “Not right now Mr.Black I’m sure it’s not urgent”
“No you see Headmaster I seem to think it is urgent because if I remember correctly coercing a student or any minor for a matter of fact is illegal. Oh and so is using legilimency on minors, especially without their consent.” Sirius said all of this with such calmness and coldness that all students and teachers sat there in stunned silence, fear running up their spines from his overprotective tone. “Oh and the Black Family solicitors will be in contact with you over the use of these spells on both myself and my friend”
Sirius turns around and walks back to what he now considers his friends with his head held high and a proud yet full of malice smile spread across his face. When he reaches Severus and Bruce he sits across from them not even having to say a word for the kids to move out of his way. Once the three friends start talking the rest of the hall takes it as permission to whisper and gossip amongst themselves.
From across the hall, a Gryffindor stood up and screamed “LIER HOW DARE YOU SLANDER THE HEADMASTER’S GOOD NAME!!!!” The trio instead of responding broke into a short slightly manic laughter before returning to eating and talking.
Meanwhile, The Marauders had some members conversing among themselves and others still sitting in silence trying to process what just happened before their eyes. Mr. Sirius “I hate my family” Black just threatened their beloved headmaster with legal action.
Regulus sits only a few people down from his brother and keeps glancing at him he then stands up and makes his way over to stand behind Snape and Mulciber. “So you finally see through him and you hang out with the likes of them. Still can’t stand to even see me” Regulus stands there with his arms crossed and speaks with an irritated and almost hurt tone. Sirius looks up from his food and with food still in his mouth amusedly say “I was gonna come harass you in your dorm tonight little brother,” after getting kicked in the shin he says with a pained expression “And apologize to you”
From where Regulus was sitting earlier his friends, Barty Jr., Evan, and Pandora Rosier stayed sitting having mixed feelings and reactions to the twin brothers interacting in Public for the first time without immediately turning into a screaming match, duel, or worse a muggle-styled fist fight. They watch as Severus gives Sirius a murderous stare before Sirius mentions apologizing. They all let out a chuckle, or in Pandora’s case a giggle, when they see the pain clearly etched on his face.
“So dear little brother are you and your friends going to keep looking at me like you’re going to murder me or are you guys going to sit with us?” “Where are you staying?” Severus speaks up as he sees Sirius doesn't stop filling his mouth and says “He’s staying in our dorm if you want you guys can use it to talk” Before Sirius speaks up Regulus replies with a snarky “Nobody was talking to you half breed.” “Regulus watch how you speak to my friends, I haven't said shit about yours so you’ll shut the fuck about mine you fucking cunt.” Severus calmly grabs Sirius’ hand and amusedly says “Calm down, don’t fight with Baby Black it’s not the first time I’ve heard it.”
Regulus gives an indignant look to Snape before turning back to his brother saying “Fine, I won’t if you won’t. We talk in your room for a while and then with “OUR” friends. We all know you two wouldn’t talk under normal circumstances.”Then Regulus turns around and walks away without waiting for a response. Sirius replies to Regulus anyways with an amused chuckle and sultry wave and says “Byeee Baby Reggie!!”
Severus looks over Sirius’ shoulder and sees that the Mauraders are leaving Remus throws Sirius’ betrayed and sad glances, while the other two just look at them with stares full of hate. Severus looks at both of them and says “We should get going we need to make a stop at the Library. I want to get a book checked out.” Sirius lets out a groan as Bruce gets up and asks “What book? I’m pretty sure you’ve checked out almost half the books from the Library.”
“Oh just a lineage book and how to find out through potions and one through spells.” Sirius is up and ready to walk when he says “Like the ritual, Gringotts does it to prove the child is not a bastard or when they need an heir to a line.” Severus responds as they walk toward the entrance and says “Yeah like that, I honestly didn’t know they did that. How long would it take to make an appointment?”
“Probably not long you just need to reach out to them with the help of a professor and they’ll tell you to floo or to use the portkey letter they send,...” Sirius explains the whole process with a bored expression and doesn't notice that they’ve already made it to the library and have been intently watching and listening to him with amused expressions. “..Shit sorry about that, I didn’t realize I was talking for so long.” It was surprisingly Bruce who spoke up and said, “Don’t worry it’s fine we all have our things we’re crazy about, for Severus it’s his obsession with Experiments for Defense against and the dark arts as well as potion experiments. While I have a different obsession each day.” “Oh don’t listen to him I’m his daily obsession,” Severus says with such confidence and smugness that all three of the newfound friends break out into laughter in front of the doors to the Library.
They walk into the Library and immediately head over to Madame Irma Pince the librarian, and Severus politely greats her and speaks to her as if they were old friends. Sirius stares at them dumbfounded causing Bruce to ask “Why so surprised?” causing Sirius to stop gapping and angrily whisper “Every time I’ve spoken to her she looks at me like I'm the dirt on her shoes.” Severus looks over at them on the brink of laughter and says “i think that has to do more with you and co always making such a ruckus.” At that moment Madam Pince pipes in while giving Sirius a sceptical look and says “And because you never left my favorite student alone.” “Oh yeah that’s reasonable, I was a prick,” Sirius says with embarrassment and cowers beneath her piercing gaze.
“Well Madam Pince,” Severus chuckled nervously “I was wondering what books you had on lineage potions and spells.” Bruce and Sirius spent the next couple of hours with Severus in the Library while he went around searching for more books once he finished the ones he already had. Severus went around reading all the books the Library had and only found two or three books with any solid information grateful that for once he did not bump into Remus Lupin, his possible brother.
“Ok guys I’m ready to go,” Severus said once he got to their table only to hear Sirius already planning more chao with a sealed letter next to him. “Ok so I-” “What is that?” Severus spoke calmly but arched a brow when asking, as he pointed at the neatly folded letter. “Oh it’s a letter to my Father explaining the situation, he’s less likely to burn my letter immediately,” Sirius explained with a shrug and a bored expression, a sign that both Severus and Bruce, in the short time that they’ve been acquaintances with Sirius, have figured out is just Sirius masking his emotions.
“Ok, we won’t delve into it if you don’t want us to but just putting it out there that we might understand more than you think so if you ever wanna talk…” Bruce tells Sirius, surprising even himself with his constant olive branching. “Oh uh, thanks…” They stayed in a heavy awkward silence before Severus finally spoke up and said, “Ok so why don’t we go out and get some fresh air before we run into some people I’m dreading to see.”
Bruce looks at Severus confused about what he means by that and Sirius answers knowingly “Remus loves the library, but honestly, after what happened earlier it will be a miracle before he leaves his room or hasn’t already spent the entire time hunting me down to kill me for treason.” The other two boys glance at him wearily before backing up from him with their hands raised with amused smiles on their faces. Sirius let out an amused “Oh fuck off, we can walk around until dinner or camp out in a classroom on the first floor, hell we could go as far as napping”
“Orrrrr you guys could help me brew?” Sev asks with a tentative smile. “But you’re gonna yell at us as soon as we so much as pick up a knife,” Bruce lets out with a slight whine knowing how controlling Sev is when it comes to brewing. “Ok, how about this you can keep me and Sirius company? Cause no offense Sirius but I’m definitely using your cutting skills from excessive torturing, cause doing this all alone is going to be tiring.” Sirius replies with a shrug and a “Yeah I don’t mind I don't really use it for much but keeping my hair at a certain length, but do you even have all the ingredients.” Severus gives a sly smile when he says “Yup Professor Slughorn gave me access to his potion stock so I can and I quote “safely hone my skill” even though everyone in a mile radius can smell his desperation to get his hand on my recipes.” All three boys break out into laughter at the truthfulness of the statement and rush out of the library before Madame Pince can kick them out.
The boys slowly make their way to an empty classroom on their fourth floor talking about all kinds of topics from professors to classmates and right as they start talking about Lily Evans she passes by them. Lily Evans looks all three of them up and down and then sneers at Sirius “How could you do this to Remus and Mary after everything that happened?! After everything they did?! And on top of that Everything you did!?!” Bruce looks between Lily and Severus and says “what did I do?” Lily yells at him before Sev can explain “YOU crucioed my friend.” Bruce looks skeptical before loudly exclaiming “I knew Avery cut off a chunk of my hair!!!! WHY? WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME?!?!”
Lily looks at him startled and confused before asking “Wait so if you didn't do it why was Snape there?” Severus raises a hand to his heart and with a tone of indifernce says “Ouch Evans. I heard her screams and ran to help her when I found her I gave her a potion I created that works on helping the nerves in one body since muggle-raised students have described it as similar to electrocution.” Lily gives them all skeptical looks and turns to look at Severus and Sirius and tells them “you too are not off the hook just because Mulciber is,” while pointing at Sirius she says “You literally told Snape about Remus’ dead twin brother and got him to impersonate him.” Severus looks at Lily with false indignation and says “He didn’t tell me shit my name is actually Romulus I found out last year. I was going to do the inheritance test after Sirius told me that Lupin had a dead twin brother with the same name whose grave he’s not allowed to visit. So go FUCK YOURSELF.”
The boys then walked away and spent the next couple of hours preparing for brewing that night in their dorm after getting the supplies from Professor Slughorn’s cupboard, which the idiot doesn’t even lock. As they head to the great hall for dinner they come across Regulus and his friends, who Severus dubbed “The Skittles”. They all end up sitting together for dinner the Black brothers throwing snarky comments back and forth between each other and they all walk together to the Slytherin Common Room.
As they walk up the stairs to the dorms the friends of the Black brother give them looks and don’t let them escape from having to talk to each other. Once the brothers are inside the room they stand in awkward silence Regulus turns away from his brother. “Soooo Where do you want to start?” Sirius asks his little brother with awkward and stiff shoulders.
