Another Platonic SS&HG Idea
In which Severus and Hermione build a friendship because of all the times he has had to save her.
First Year: The troll. Hermione’s has anxiety about bathrooms. He brews her something to help.
Second Year: The polyjuice incident and her petrification. Besides giving her the potion he is the first one to tell her what happened with the Basilisk and Harry. They commiserate over the idiocy of her friends and of course the illicit potion brewing.
Third Year: Saved from retaliation from Malfoy for her punching him. It was to be an ambush and one thing he cannot abide is 1 vs 5. Gives her a talk about what happens when friends abandon friends as the two boys aren't talking to her.
Fourth year: Notices that she is putting enough work into helping Harry that she is exhausted. Slips potions in her bag with her handwriting forged. if he can't save Harry himself this girl will have to do it. Sees her getting bullied by other girls in every house because of the articles written by rita. Uses his specific snide and back handed way to make her cling to righteous indignation and ignore those who would be dumb enough to believe such rot. The first time she genuinely says thankyou. Gets him Christmas Gift.
Fifth year: Gives her instructions on how to alleviate the sting of the cursed quill. Compliments the galleons when he catches her one night leaving a DA meeting. She runs into him when he returns from a summoning. She doesn't say anything but helps him as he is injured. Never brings it up but any time he is summoned he finds a new package of pain relief potions in his rooms, delivered by an elf.
Sixth year: Listens to her rants about Harry in potions, gives her suggestions but only after she fails each potion. Warns her to get the book away from Harry but not why. Runs into him before he leaves for the tower. A moment of understanding.
Seventh year: gives her healing potions, antivenin, nutrition potions throughout their journey on the run. She knows its him but never sees him. After the war a bundle is mailed to her with glass vials. Leaves her memories of being proud of her.
