Maybe Hermione in her 8th year finds a book that allows her to communicate with someone else only for her to talk to a young Snape going by Prince.
Hermione is curious as ever but once they realize they live in different time periods they try not to give away too much.
Sev/Prince finds her fascinating and actually a good conversationalist.
they write to each other every day, all day
She becomes his new obsession.
She is surprised to find someone who can keep up with her.
Obviously, they fall in love, but it's like The Lake House.
They set a date to meet, and it doesn't happen because in Hermione's timeline, he's dead, so Prince(Snape) doesn't understand why he didn't go to meet her.
Cue the eventual realization of the truth.
