Chapter 19

Remus had been so busy in June with his last terms at Hogwarts that he hadn't had the time to think so much of Sirius.
He entered his mind only at night because he couldn't sleep, otherwise.
But during the day studying was what mattered.
He and Mary and Lily had spent countless of hours at the library with their heads trapped inside their books, as they did for that afternoon, as well.
And this time, James and Sirius decided to sit at the desk next to them.
"So, you still haven't talked to him, since that time at the hospital?", Lily asked quietly, interrupting Remus' studies.
"No.",he tried to go back to his book, but he turned to look at Sirius through his shoulder, but he found him already staring at him and immediately turned away.
"Remus, that was like ages ago. During April.", she whispered and tried to continue their conversation.
" I know. But I have nothing to say to him and I don't think he has anything to say to me, either.", he looked one more time, but thank Merlin, Sirius had turned his focus on/to James.
" How do you know?", Lily wasn't prepared to stop bringing this thing up..
"How do you know?", Remus frowned at her, because he knew she'd somehow known something.
" I don't. I just - Ehh, it's just so weird, you know. James has been so worried since April and Sirius has been a mess and I have been worried about the both of you! "
" You haven't been worried about your boyfriend, Lily?", Mary stepped into the conversation, showing that she had been listening to them talking from the start.
" Oh, shut up, you dork. Go back to your books. ", Lily hissed and elbowed her teasingly.
" She's right, but it's over, Lils. I don't have neither the energy nor the time to worry my mind about Sirius. I love him, I still do, I mean how couldn't I? But that's it. I'm not talking about it anymore. ", he hadn't told them about Sirius cheating and wasn't going to. He didn't want to expose him like that.
" All right, I'm sorry, Moony. I'm just - You both are two of my best friends, especially you and I hate seeing you like this. Sirius is way worse trust me.", Lily nodded to him and showed how concerned she was for them with only a look at him.
" He is? ", Remus asked, not wanting to sound worried about him.
" Oh yes, Remus. Trust us when we tell you we haven't seen like this, like ever. He was better when he was going through all that shit with his family.", Mary said to him and took a look towards the boys.
Oh Merlin, what's happening?
"I don't know, I just - let's study for another hour, okay? We can have some dinner if you want to after."
" Oh yes, that would be perfect.",Lily smiled at him and he did, too.
" I'm in, too."
And then, they all went back to their studies.

When they finished, exactly one hour later, they gathered their things and waited for Lily at their desk, who had gone to James to tell him good-bye.
Sirius was looking at Remus the whole time with his big, blue eyes that Remus couldn't resist.
He couldn't help it, but watch that beautiful face that he'd avoided for nearly two months.
Remus had missed him.
He'd missed their conversations, them sleeping together, his laugh, his touch, his... everything.
He needed him back, but wouldn't tell him anything.
After a moment of Remus just being on his feet, with his books in his hands and his eyes on Sirius, Lily returned and the three of them left the boys behind and turned to go to the Great Hall, in order to enjoy their last dinners there together.
Marlene and Dorcas were already sitting and eating and laughing harder than ever.
Marlene's eyes glowed at the sigh of her girlfriend and Dorcas had her fingers playing with her girl's blonde, long hair.
" Hello, ladies. ", Mary smiled at them and sat across her, at Sirius' usual sit, beside Remus.
"Hay, guys.", Dorcas was smiling so widely and she was blushing so hard that the difference between her black skin and red cheeks was very noticeable.
" You two are up to something. I'm sure of it.", Remus said, as he sat down next to Mary.
"Yes!",the girls said together and Lily was so surprised that she stopped filling her plate and turned to her left to give them a look.
" What's going on?", she said, finally letting the plate at the table.
"Should we tell them now?", Dorcas whispered to Marlene's ear and the girls didn't manage to catch that, except for Remus - being a werewolf wasn't so bad when it wasn't that time of the month.
Marlene nodded and they turned to look at the others with the biggest smiles on their faces.
"We're getting married!!", they both whispered the words, because the room had so many students in for the first time in months and, obviously, they didn't want to be heard.
"WHAT?", the three of them couldn't hide their surprise and got up to hug them.
Mary was the last to hug Marlene and before she did, she just stood in front of her and smiled with one of her understanding smiles and just nodded, which made Marlene smile ear to ear. They hugged for a long time, letting their feelings for each other slip completely away.
Remus smiled at them, more like to himself actually.
He and Sirius didn't get to tell them about their engagement, but he knew they all would've been exactly this thrilled.
They sat down and started talking about the girls' marriage.
"WHEN?", Mary basically yelled at them." THAT'S SO SOON."
"Well, August sounds like a good month to have a wedding. When we're finished with exams and are back at home, we'll start planning.", Dorcas replied.
"Oh my Merlin, what will I wear?", Mary asked nervously. "I haven't been to a wedding since I was like six years old!"
They all laughed at her.
"It'll be pretty small, Mary. Don't worry. Us five, Sirius, James, Cassandra, my brother, my parents and Dorcas'. That's it, I think.", Marlene turned to her fiance.
"Yeah, definitely. Oh, if it's okay with you, I don't want our parents to the after party.", Dorcas looked at her anxiously.
"I would've told you the same thing!", Marlene opened her mouth in disbelief.
"Wow, you two share the same brain .", Lily laughed at them.
It was the greatest news Remus had ever heard, but wished he had Sirius worrying about their outfits together.

After a week, the exams were over and all of them were packing their stuff to go.
The train would be at the station in two hours and all of them - expect for Remus -, had left their packing for the last minute.
As he had all the time to himself, he went to the library to return some of his books and then to the woman who was looking after him for all these years - Poppy Pomfrey.
"I can't believe you're not gonna be here in two months sweetheart.", her eyes began to tear, Remus' as well.
They hugged each other tightly and Remus felt like he was holding his mother. Well, basically, the woman in front of him was more like a mother, than just a woman who cared more him.
" I'm going to miss you so much, Poppy.", he told her, as he was burying his face in her neck.
"Oh, dear, I am, too.", she took his head in her hands and looked at him with her tears running to her neck.
"If you ever need anything, at any time, you can send me a letter and I will be at your door in a breath. Are you sure you don't want me there for your full moons, dear?", she sounded worried, because she didn't know if Remus would manage without her.
"I'm sure. You have your work here, you don't have to worry about me.", he saw her opening her mouth to speak, but he lifted a finger.
"And I know you're always gonna be worried about me and thinking about me like your own son, but I need to figure it out on my own. Please."
And with that, she closed her mouth and began crying, more like sobbing.
The sounds that were leaving her throat made Remus miserable. He didn't enjoy that side of her. One of the brightest people in the world, being like that.
But everybody has the moment.
He hugged her again and then headed quickly to the door.
He couldn't be there anymore. He was already feeling like he was about to sob, too.
He took a walk, while he was crying and sat down at the grass with his head turned to/at the sky.
He heard footsteps getting close and he immediately knew to whom they belonged.
He felt a presence to his right and turned to look.
"Hi, Moony.", James smiled kindly.
"Hey, Prongs. What are you doing here? Did he send you?", Remus lifted his body to sit.
"No. I lied to him to get here.", he put his body in the same position, as well, and began shaking his head negatively.
"I don't want to lie to him, Moony, just to talk to you. I knew you were here and I came to tell you that I have never seen like this. I've been his best friend forever and, even when he was having all that shit with his family he seemed better."
"Why does everyone keep saying that?"
"Because it's true!", James yelled. "You're his everything and he's yours, why are you being just drama queens about it? You two love each other, can't you let your ego go away for a while?", James hissed."I'm so mad at you, but especially him because you'd gone to apologize and he'd already found a girl.", Remus looked at him, realizing that he'd known everything since the begin.
"He didn't tell me anything. I saw them and went to stop them, but then he pulled away and captured you in the crowd.", James explained. "I was so mad at him that the whole castle heard my voice that night. He's my best friend, but you are, too. You're so important to me, as well, that I can't bear seeing you like this. And him, too. I love you both so much that I decided to do something about it. Marlene's getting married in a month, what are you gonna do then, huh? You can at least have a conversation about it. Don't get back together, if you don't want to. ", James was being fair and right and he was there to help, but Remus was determined.
" I don't want to, James. I've had enough of his shit and he's had enough of mine. Maybe it's just better this way. ", it wasn't better this way, but it was for the best.
" As you wish. I just wanted to tell you this.", James seemed disappointed.
"And I thank you for that.", Remus did appreciate James' interest and was thankful. He was one of his best friends, too and he knew it.
"Prongs?", he asked.
"Yes?"
"Are you gonna move in with Lily this summer?"
"Oh Yes! I am. Do you wanna come live with us?", James waited for the answer like his whole life depended on it.
"I was going to ask you to stay with you for a while, because I don't have anywhere to stay, but I don't want to be a burden on Lily, too.", he had hoped they wouldn't move in together for the summer.
"Don't be ridiculous! I talked to her about it and she wants to live with you more that anything!", James was very sincere about it.
"Then, I guess I don't see why not.", he went to hug and thank him.
He was going to spend a summer with his friends in the same house without Sirius, but that was okay. Maybe it was just not meant to be.
