Chapter 10

It was almost midnight and all the marauders were in the common room. Mary had brought Cassandra to meet them and that was the moment Remus realized how important everyone must be to Mary.
Cassandra was really nice, as to be expected.
For starters, she had a really good taste in music. She fancied the Smiths, the Beatles, David Bowie and the Mott of Hoople - "All the young dudes" was her favorite song ever.
When Remus heard all of that, he was immediately impressed.
She had a good sense of humor and liked most of the classes at Hogwarts. It was her last year there and she seemed super nervous about it.
She had no idea about living in the real world, but she said she would figure it out, hoping she sounded optimistic.
Remus went a little silent on that, as he found himself relatable to her worries. At least, he wasn't alone.
She even got her own spot in the common room, as everyone else had.
Remus and Sirius always sat down by the window, either on a chair or on the floor, with their bodies dangled and their hands resting on each other's legs.
Lilly and James always sat on the right edge of the couch, right across the fireplace.
Marlene and Dorcas made themselves comfortable at the left side of the fireplace, on the floor.
And Cassandra sat with Mary, on the other side of the fireplace.
They were really simple people and made themselves comfortable anywhere, honestly.
Cassandra was curious about Lily and James' relationship and they happily gave her the answer right away.
They considered themselves the 'parents' of the gang, so they felt a bit proud to be asked first and Cassandra seemed interested in their story.
"So, how about you guys?", she turned her head to her right and looked at the girls.
Remus caught Marlene giving a quick glance at Mary's face.
She was the first to fall, but Mary wasn't interested in her that time, unfortunately. She was having a hard time accepting her sexuality.
"Well, we definitely didn't like each other at first.", Dorcas began and smiled brightly at the girlfriend, feeling proud about their outcome.
"I suppose enemies - to - lovers is our trope, McCinnon.", she elbowed Marlene and frowned at her depressed face.
"Yeah, you're probably right.", Marlene said, looking at the floor, probably recalling all of her memories of Mary before her now relationship.
"It sounds a bit complicated, I resume.", Cassandra replied politely.
"Nah. Honestly, I was into her from the moment I laid eyes on her.", Dorcas admitted.
"Just like us.", Cassandra turned to smile at Mary, who was already smiling back with a spark in her eyes.
"Cassandra, dear, I'm gonna be offended. You're not interested in our story?", Sirius lifted his eyebrows and Remus laughed at the sight.
"Come on now, you jealous idiot."
" No, no. I am! You are my favorite couple of the gang and I wanted the best part for the end. Sorry guys.", Cassandra and Mary laughed when they saw James' opened mouth.
" WHAT DO YOU MEAN? WE ARE ADORABLE. We don't have any problems and we eat up every time. ", James high - fived Lily, before he folded his arms and started staring at the new member of the group.
" JAMES, DEAR I DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT.", she teased James with the same voice he used and made everyone laugh, except for Marlene, who was still into her own thoughts and had Dorcas elbowing her the whole time.
