Marlene meets the gang
It had been a few days since Marlene’s first interaction with the two girls, turns out Mary and Lily were actually good friends (which made the whole situation even more awkward). The classes were the same at any old school, boring. Marlene also found out Lily had a boyfriend, James potter. For some reason everyone calls him ‘prongs’. Lily told Marlene that it was because in first year James said he could beat a stag in a fight, which only made poor Marlene even more confused.
”Marlene!” Mary whistled into Marlene’s ear brushing a piece of her blonde hair out of her face as she tried to wake her up, but one thing Mary didn’t know is that Marlene could sleep through anything.
Eventually Mary resorted to filling a small cup up with freezing water from the tap and pouring it on the blonde girls head, which immediately woke her up.
”What the fuck!” Marlene growled wiping the water out of her now soaked face, making sure too give Mary the most dirtiest look ever but that only made Mary’s smirk even bigger.
”I had to wake you up somehow.” Mary replied innocently, batting her pretty eyelashes at Marlene like she was the sweetest and purest thing on planet earth.
“it’s Saturday, we have no lesson why couldn’t you just let me sleep in?” Marlene quizzed, now sitting up in her twin sized bed and stretching.
Mary shrugged and sat on her own bed making Marlene even more pissed off.
“The others are going out and I wanted you to join, you know since you’re new, and you can meet everyone!” Mary stated kicking her feet like a kid.
”how can someone so stupid be so perfect.” Marlene thought
Marlene who was now out her bed and getting change uttered “You’re so stupid.” Making the other girl scoff and cross her arms in a childish way.
Once Marlene was ready and had brushed the monstrosity on her head the she called hair her and Mary left the dorm room. They walked and talked all the way until they reached the boys dorms, Marlene just followed Mary since she had no clue where they were going and they soon ended up in James’ and Sirius’ room. There was about six people already in there even if she only knew two. It was a bit awkward since she hadn’t a clue who any of these blokes were but she soon got comfortable around them. Turns out the four boys were called Remus, Peter, Sirius, and she already knew James. Sirius’ little brother was there as well but Marlene didn’t know if calling him little was appropriate since he was only a year younger than all of them. Lily was in there as well but Marlene kind of expected that. She had said hi to everyone and most had said hi back except Sirius brother who rudely scoffed and turned away. One thing Marlene hated was stuck up snobs, that was actually one of the reasons why she got booted out of her old school. She had gave a stupid pretentious lad a good blow too the nose for calling her family ‘a bunch of smelly paupers’. But she wasn’t going too let that ruin her day and as much as she hated it, she let it go.
”Marlene, come sit over here.” Lily chirped patting the seat next too her on the small couch in the corner, Marlene began walking over to her new friend causing the redhead to grin up at her.
Lily was sat with Remus, one of her best friends, she had known him basically her whole life since they lived close by before coming to boarding school. Even though he looked the scariest out of all them with the scars and his height, he was probably the nicest person Marlene had ever spoke too. After talking for a while she had found out the big scar he had across his face was from where he had been attacked by a wolf in a nearby forest too his house, Marlene sort of pitied him after all it must be hell living with that forever.
Lily had snaked an arm around Marlene’s shoulder and even though it took at least five minutes for Marlene too realise what the girl next too her had done it didn’t stop her from turning a fiery red once she had realised.
fuck.
Marlene was never good the physical contact, well she didn’t mind it from people like her dad, or her mum but she hadn’t known Lily for more then a week and she was already touching her.
What the actual fuck!
She didn’t let it affect her, trying her hardest to keep a casual expression on her face. As soon as the clock ticked 5:00 pm everyone got up and started to leave together. Curiously Marlene followed
was everyone going back too their dorms?
”what’s going on?” She asked lily lightly tugging on lily’s emerald green jumper.
”oh, I forgot you’re new. The headteacher only lets us out after 5 pm so we wait in here until we’re aloud to go into the village.” Lily explained but shook her head and laughed as Marlene’s face contorted too a bewildered expression.
”why.” Was all Marlene got to say before lily responded with “I don’t actually know, I think it’s a bit weird myself.”
Marlene was still confused but decided not to push it and just did what the rest did, following the back off Mary’s Head as the halls began to fill with other students all from different rooms.
Once all eight got outside regulus was quick to disperse from the group and walk off, so now the seven off them made their way into the small village just outside the campus. As much as Marlene wanted to act tough and confident she couldn’t shake the overwhelming feeling taking over her body. She grew up in the city she was around people all the time, she shouldn’t be overwhelmed?
The sad truth was in the city she had no friends, yeah she was funny and chatty and just a good person too be around in general but no one saw that side of her in the city, instead they saw the bratty, angered problem girl that got her sent here in the first place. Normally she would go out by herself, too places no one knew. Where she could be a peace with herself.
But now she was with in a village she didn’t know, with people she’d just met and even thought it couldn’t be more freeing she still felt trapped.
She quickly snapped out of her small panic attack as she felt a warm and soft hand slip into hers, squeezing Marlene’s sweaty hand tightly. She looked to her side and it was Mary stood there, giving her a reassuring smile.
”not a big fan of crowds?” Mary whispered into Marlene’s ear making her whole body shiver with a feeling she hadn’t exactly figured out yet.
”I’m fine in crowds, it’s just so, different from the city.” Marlene answered quietly, letting out a breath she hadn’t realised she was holding.
”that’s fine, we can get through it together okay.” Mary stated, her warm breath hitting Marlene’s cold ear and making the other girl feel a weird sensation shoot through her body.
“Okay.” Marlene responded nodding her and taking a big breath before moving along with the group.
a few days ago Marlene would had said that she would never fall in love, not once. But for some strange fucking reason Marlene was ready to throw her whole life away for Mary when she heard her say that.
This is NOT good!!
