Chapter 9

“You’re getting tired,” Draco whispered. The film was nearly at the end and her eyes were indeed feeling heavier by the minute.

“I’m not,” she lied, whispering and shushing him.

They were lying close on Hermione’s bed, thighs arms touching. He was in a half sitting position which was surprisingly incredibly comfy. She unintentionally moved closer, trying to get in a more comfortable position. Draco cleared his throat, alerting Hermione to just how close she was.

“Sorry,” she whispered.

“Don’t be,” he whispered back, bringing his arm over her and lifting her slightly up to his chest. “Comfier?”

“Mhm,” she mumbled.

Neither of them remembered the ending credits before sleep took over.

Morning light flooded in Hermione’s open blinds, waking her slowly. She yawned before realising there was another set of arms next to her own. Wrapped round her. Tightly.

Oh lord.

She had fallen asleep. With Draco in her bed. How on earth would she explain this to Ginny and Harry? They wouldn’t believe they ‘just fell asleep’. Their imaginations ran wild at the best of times.

Her phone started to vibrate under the pillow, but she couldn’t turn without moving Draco. She knew she should waken him; apologise for the situation they had ended up in and kick him out. Less harshly of course. But something in her didn’t want to and she didn’t know if she liked that. It scared her a little. Her previous relationship had been less than… adequate. Something about having his arms wrapped round Hermione made her feel safe.

It couldn’t have been later than seven, the sun was still rising. She slowly closed her eyes and drifted back off, cuddling more ever so slightly into Draco.

“Granger?” Draco whispered. “Granger, turn your phone off for the love of God.”

Hermione opened her eyes, blinking a few times to get her bearings and then snapped her eyes open. Draco was obviously aware of their current situation. She reached under her pillow, missing the call coming through.

“Sorry, it was Theo.” She thought it over, why would Theo be phoning?

“He’s now ringing me,” he groaned.

Hermione jumped up out of bed, panic setting in. “Well, he must have pieced two and two together.”

“And?” Draco asked, looking thoroughly unimpressed.

“I don’t know if you know this but those two out there,” she pointed to her door, “are ridiculous with their imagination. They’ll never believe we fell asleep.”

“But we did.”

“But they won’t understand that.”

“Would you like to do more than sleep?” He raised a singular eyebrow. He was then attacked with a pillow to the face. “Look, calm down. I’ll tell Theo, I don’t know actually.”

“Tell him you met an old friend at the gym.”

“A one-night stand from the gym? Really?”

“I’d believe it.”

“Okay, fine. How do you propose I get out of here?”

“Perfectly good window.”

“Are you serious?”
