(Monday night) Fever

Sirius Black was desperately watering the plants ( how did these things look that miserable and, more importantly, how would he fix them until afternoon?) when his boyfriend came in- looking grumpy.

" Guess what?" he asked.

" What? Did the elves refuse to give us more cake? Just beg, they're so easy to break."

" Gavin and Frank are sick!"

" Oh come on!" exclaimed Sirius. "And I was looking forward to game night!"

" I know, right? Besides, these idiots should have known better than to visit the hospital wing these days! Everyone knows there's this flu going on." Remus said, putting the snacks they had brought back to his suitcase.

" Whatever. I guess it will give us more time to spend on Project Limes. We've been stuck on mediocre!"

" It's not going bad at all!" protested his boyfriend. " They're... being friendly!"

" Friendly!" scoffed Sirius. " Since when is that enough?"

" I know, but that's the best we can do for now. They're just... too busy to be spending time with each other anyways! If only there was a way to keep them together even for a few days... "

" Yeah, imagine they got the flu or something. They would have to spe- wait a damn minute! That's it! They will get the flu!"

Remus gave him an unimpressed glance. " Baby... not to disappoint you, but I don't think this will work. I mean, it's a good idea, really, but Lily and James aren't dump. They know about the danger and are probably avoiding everyone who seems sick. We can't just assume they will get the flu by chance!"

" Well, maybe we can't rely on luck, but what we can do is make sure they catch it..."

🌻🌻🌻

Lily Evans came stumbling into the apartment she shared with James Potter, and threw herself on the couch next to said James Potter.

" Hi Evans! How are you doing? He asked, not really taking his eyes from the hair clip he was currently trying to turn into a tennis ball. Wait, was this her hair clip?

" I'm fine." she replied. Nah, this was one of Sirius's. She recalled him wearing it last week.

James caught the now transformed tennis ball and then turned his head to inspect her.

"What?"she snapped at him.

" Well, my experience says when someone says that, they are most definitely not fine. What's up?"

" Your experience with girls?" she asked, before thinking. Why the hell did she say that?!

" And Remus. He can be real cranky when he wants to."

She hugged a pillow. "It's nothing, really. It's just that I've been feeling a bit down since morning."

" Really?'' he asked, sitting up.'' Like what?"

" Like, I'm tired, I can't focus on anything, my head hurts a lot... Do you think I've been cursed?" she added, suddenly nervous.

He seemed to consider it. " I mean, with those Slytherins around, it's not impossible... Did anything unusual happen today?"

" Uh, not really. I mean, at some point Black practically jumped in front of me, doing something weird with his wand, but I think he was just playing some childish game or something."

" Yeah." he agreed. " What else did you do today?"

" Nothing much. Went to classes, dropped off some books at the library, chatted a bit with Alice about that astronomy test-"

" Wait, Alice? Alice Fortescue?"

" Uh, yes. Why?"

" Well, Sirius was venting all day yesterday about Frank getting sick with that flu that has been going on and ruining their playdate. Isn't he and Alice dating?"

" Yeah. So?"

" So... I don't know, maybe Alice caught the flu from Frank, and passed it to you?"

" What? No, I'm not sick!"

" It would explain your symptoms. Do you have a fever?" he asked, and then reached his hand to brush her forehead.

She suddenly started feeling very hot. Maybe she was sick after all. Or maybe-

" My god, Evans, you're burning up!"

So it wasn't just her, it- wait, what?

" I'm sick?"

"I'd say so! You must have caught it from Alice or someone else. Everyone seems to have it these days."

Lily scoffed. " Oh great, this is just what I needed! Good job, Evans!" she murmured.

" Hey, don't be harsh on yourself!" said James calmly, touching her arm. ( Damn, she must really be in a bad condition, because that was kinda hot?)

" Even you couldn't have predicted that!" he continued, oblivious to her worries. Was that last thing a compliment?

" Give yourself a break. You know, this whole illness thing might be for good! You could rest for a while." he added encouragingly.

" You're not wrong." she admitted. Damn the sucker, he did make her feel better!
" But it won't be for long!" she added quickly. "Especially for the Head duties and the rounds! I don't want Dumbledore to think it's serious."

" Relax." replied James. " I'm sure he won't make this into a big deal.''

πŸŒ»πŸ‚πŸ

" So, don't panic, but Dumbledore kinda thinks it's a big deal."

" What?" she asked.

" I just sent him the message, saying you're a bit under the weather and won't do Head duties for a while, and he responded saying they're trying to narrow down the number of sick students by making the already sick ones go into quarantine!"

" You're joking!"

" Nope! And don't freak out, but he also says any other person with you right now must also go into quarantine, because they're probably already infected. And by any person, I think he means me.

" What? Give me that!" Lily practically grabbed the piece of parchment and studied it. " A week?! That's absurd! Even if you haven't caught it yet, you definitely will!" she waited for a moment. " James! Why are you still here? Go somewhere else, quickly! We'll say you weren't here."

" What? No way! I'm not leaving you here, by yourself, in that condition!"

" Potter, I appreciate the heroism, but I am really not dying. I will survive, and besides if you stay here, not only will you catch the flu, but you will definitely also get into my nerves!''

" Well, that seems like your future problem, because I'm not going anywhere! I'm sorry Evans, but you're getting rid of the flu easier than you're getting rid of me!"

🌼🌼🌼

Remus Lupin shot an annoyed glance at his boyfriend and crossed his arms.

''Really, Sirius? I can't believe you!''

Sirius looked at him with a guilty, puppy-dog expression.

''I am so sorry baby, but please try to understand! The Quidditch match is in less than a week! I can't be sick, they need me! And, besides, it's not my fault you caught the flu! You should have known better than to go to the hospital wing!''

''Wow! Yeah, sorry for needing medicine for the pre-full moon headahces! I can't believe you abandoned me for just a game!''

''C'mon, you know Quidditch isn't just a game! And I didn't abandon you! We'll keep doing everything together, except, from a little healthy distance. We needed a break anyways! Wait- that didn't come out well. Oh, my god I didn't mean-''

Remus dismissed him with a wave. ''Oh, save it. And besides, I thought the match will be cancelled.''

Sirius's eyebrows shot up. ''And why would that be?''

''Well you, know. James will catch the flu from Evans- that is if he hasn't already caught it- and the game can't go on without him, right? He's not only the captain, he's the seeker too!'' He observed the expression of true horror slowly taking over his boyfriend. '' Oh. You hadn't thought of that had you?''

''No! Oh, my god'' Sirius had started running. ''I hope this damned sucker hasn't already caught the flu, because I am so not losing to Miss-Wendy-I-am-a-good-Slytherin-dating-Wormy-Lynn and her Death Eater team! James is going to play at the match, even if he is on his deathbed!''

Remus cursed himself for speaking up and run after his boyfriend. '' But think of the time he'll spend with Lily! Seiriously now, it's just a... oh, great!''

This was going to be a looong week.

πŸ‚πŸ‚πŸ‚(Bonus scene)

''Potter, this is ridiculous. You are not my mother, for god's sake, so trying to feed me soup!"

James gave her a disapproving look.

" So, first your don't want the tea, now you don't want the soup. Evans, should I be offended?!" he said half - joking. " Now, come on, just a sip. For Lisbeth, who basically made this!"

Lily seriously doubted Lisbeth, who was James 's owl had really cooked, but she didn't argue. Besides, she loved that bird so much, she had considered getting rid of James, just to steal her.

" See, that wasn't that bad. And one for Remus? It's his mom's recipe!"

Lily shot him a death glare - which might have seemed more pathetic than she wanted, considering how she felt-, but ate it anyways.

''There's a good girl. And one for Sirius?''

She couldn't help but laugh. ''What did he do?''

''Errr... well, nothing really, but just cause he's so beautiful?''

''Careful, Potter, he has a boyfriend.''

''But I am the love of his life!''

''Whatever.'' she said, eating the soup. ''But that's it, I am not eating any more.''

''Not even for Alice, your beloved friend? Or our dear headmaster, Dumbledore?''

''You mean Alice who gave me the flu because she wanted to snog her dumb boyfriend, and Dumbledore, who has made me a prisoner in my own dorm?''

''Come on! At least you have me! And don't say that's the worst part! We're going to have so much fun! We are going to play board games, and watch these muggle movies you are always talking about, and practise our spells... I'll even teach you some of our secret ones!''

''Lucky me! Sounds like a fun week.'' she said sarcastically. '' Potter, I'm sorry you have to go through this because of me.''

James looked her in the eyes. ''Please, believe me when I say there's no other place I would rather be right now than here.''

Damn. That was heavier than she had expeceted.

''Plus, what would you do without me making you soup?'' he joked.

''I have to admit, it's actually not bad'' she said, grateful for the distraction.

''Then why are not eating it?''

''Oh my god!'' she laughed.

''Come on, a last one. For me.''

And honestly, how could anyone say not to that?

πŸ‚πŸ‚πŸ‚

Sooo, what did you think?

Is Lily getting better soon? Is Sirius making James play? And is Lily slowly falling for him?

Wait for part two and don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comments!
