I guess a lesser witch would've lost hope

Everything was lost, a war fought and won by children should have taken enough but no. Life kept taking and taking from Hermione Granger. Her parents were dead despite her best efforts to protect them, Fred was crushed under a wall, Remus and Tonks dead leaving behind a new born baby, and countless others. So many other lives lost. It had to be worth something.
As Hermione went about the new normal life moved on despite all who were lost, she began to move forward and grieve while remaining as much herself as could be expected. Things were okay for a time, but despite all that she and the others fought for it wasn't enough. More people died and Hermione could not just let it be. Now alone with no friends, no family, just her she knew that she would never be okay. That is unless she changed something.

Harry and Ron were her best friends and even through the countless loses they still had each other. At least they survived together. Well that didn't last as long as she had hoped. While Hermione went on to redo her 8th year and then move on to work for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures Harry and Ron skipped their redo 8th year and went into the Department of Magical Law Enforcement becoming Aurors, and they were great at it. They locked away multiple run away Death Eaters and new want to be dark wizards, making the Wizarding world safe one full cell at a time. One would have thought them invincible with Ron's careful and ingenious planning along with Harry's bravado and fearlessness, that was until a horrible miscalculation. It was the anniversary of Lily and James' original sacrifice, her two best friends were lured into a trap at no other than Godric's Hollow in the same place where Lily stood in front of Harry while the killing curse hit her. 20 years later Harry and Ron were hit at the same curse but no other than an Imperiused Neville Longbottom.

The irony was almost laughable, two gryffindors thought betrayed by one of their best friends and dorm mates. Hermione threw herself into the investigation despite pushback from the current minister Kingsley Shacklebolt " It is to close to home Hermione" which yes it was but that made Hermione the best fit. Sleepless nights turned into sleepless weeks that then turned into sleepless months until she finally found the answer of who got into Neville's head. One wizard who could not be found and was thought dead after the Battle of Hogwarts- Antonin Dolohov. She had a plan one year later same day same place.
She awaited sitting down in the long gone areas where multiple deaths through multiple years sat surrounded by static magic, she felt the magic within her veins responding to the magic around her. Dolohov laid dead beside her his wand forgotten on the other side of the room. She got her vengeance but it wasn't enough.

She fiddled with her beaded bag and the time turner that she used during her third year. While deactivated by the ministry after her jumps in time to fit in as much classes as she could, she still kept it as a keepsake of sorts. It was now imbedded with magic from five deaths and it seemed to be working again. If she could go back one year and 5 minutes she would be able to stop Neville, stunning him before he could cast the unforgivable. She would be able to save Neville from himself, he was so wrought with grief and guilt after what happened at his hand. He ended up throwing himself through the freshly repaired veil once he was cleared to return back to his work as a unspeakable. Once again the irony was not lost on Hermione. With this one simple spell she could save Harry and Ron, she could use the information she found to capture Dolohov before any further harm could be done. One year and five minutes was all she needed.

The clock struck 11:11pm an angel number that muggles seemed to find significant, apparently Voldemort's love of Magical numbers was not lost on Dolohov. It was now or never and Hermione would be damned if she let the timing pass. She spun her time turner to the coordinates for one year and five minutes in the past and held on to her bag and wand with all her strength. Time started to spin around her and all of a sudden the world around her went black.
