Ain't no way I'm gonna screw up now that I know what's at stake here

The light began to fill in around her and the cottage bedroom was in her sights. Everything around her looked different, it no longer had the run down and decimated look about it. Was there a glamour used when Harry and Ron were ambushed? She looked around her location trying to find where Harry and Ron stood, the time was correct it was 11:06 pm. All her detective work showed that this was the time that Ron and Harry appeared in the room, it only took 5 minutes for the imperious Neville to diswand and mutter the killing curse hitting her best friends straight in the chest. Hermione was confused, she couldn't see Neville either. Did she get the time wrong? No there was no way she spent months getting the exact timeline down to a science and Hermione was not one to leave things to chance. She got up from the floor and kept her wand ready using a simple sticking charm so there would be no way her wand could be called in another's hand.

The cottage looked weird, the furniture wasn't right and the moving pictures on the wall were of a different family posed in various places. Why would Dolohov insist on such an odd glamour for this place? Harry would have known instantly what this place was once he received the location from Neville. What use would a glamour even be? She continued to walk around the small room noticing a mirror in her peripheral vision. She looked into the mirror and a child stared back at her with Hermione's same amber eyes and curly hair. Why would he have put in a looking glass? Hermione wracked her brain trying to figure out what Dolohov was playing at. The looking glass was similar to the Mirror of Erised but instead of showing you what you wanted most in the world the reflection would show when the looker was at their happiest. It would make sense that Hermione's happiest moment was when she was a child before all the chaos and death became so intrenched in her life. She couldn't help but wonder why this piece of magic in a trap? Looking glasses were hard to find and it seemed wasted on a in and out job. Things were not adding up, Hermione knew that Dolohov liked playing with his food so to speak but why make a fun house type situation for a easy in easy out murder? She didn't think that Dolohov would know much about muggle pastimes, especially she doubted that he spent anytime in a circus. Hermione shook her head forcing herself to get back on track, she continued on her path more confusion seeping in as she investigated, where were they? The same though pulsed through her mind, they should already be here. Hermione planned the location so that she would be behind Neville giving her a clear shot of his back and a clear look at her favorite peoples face. All she wanted was to save her friends and hug them again. Hermione mapped the magical signatures when she was thrown into the investigation, even using muggle forensic techniques to get a timeline of events. She wondered to herself if she should just wait? No she answered the question she couldn't wait when her best friends lives were at risk. She lifted her wand and did the incantation for Homenum Revelio, perhaps they were disillusioned. If so the gift of surprise was ruined but she was not going to let something as simple as that stop her from her mission.

Nothing showed up in the room she was in currently but two figures did appear in the room across from her. They seemed to be laying in a bed, did Harry and Ron know this was an ambush and were hiding pretending to be people they were not? It had to be, when the deaths occurred there was no one else in the cottage but the three men. No other bodies were found nor were there any witness reports that came forward from that night. Hermione cast a silencing charm on her feet, her element of surprise could still be savaged if she played this right. She ensured that her wand was still stuck firmly in her palm clenching her fingers around it feeling the magic fill her veins, she started her short walk into the other room. Things were not adding up and Hermione hated an unsolved mystery.

She entered the room being careful to watch over her shoulder, there were indeed two people in the bed but they did not look familiar to her. One was a women probably about mid thirties with long curly blonde hair, the other was a man that was balding and appeared to be to her best guess in his mid to late forties. Polyjuice? How much did Harry and Ron know about this operation before they entered the cottage? She did a quick spell to register magical signatures and in front of her she saw that no these two people were not Harry or Ron. The magical signatures did not look familiar in the least to her. She looked around and saw another looking glass, seeing the same vision of her happiest time 10 or 11 years old and innocent. This was starting to fill like a a haunted house her parents use to take Hermione to when she was younger, nothing bloody or jumping out at you but weird and off putting. She moved quietly out the door, she didn't know who or what these people were but she did not want to chance it. She knew how demented Dolohov was, and for all she knew it could be inferi. He had time to perfect his skills after battle and Hermione did not want to even think about what he could have cooked up in that psychotic brain of his.

She headed downstairs getting more and more nervous. The whole house looked different, did the time turned somehow take her to a different house? Hermione have never heard of such a thing happening, she determined that the layout was the same but that's were the similarities started to differ. The time turner should have brought her to the same place, just different time. She began to panic, if she was in the wrong house that meant that Harry and Ron were dead. It would also mean that she had no options left and had to spend the worst year of her life over again. Hermione started to breathe heavy tears clouding her eyes, What did she mess up? There was no room for error but her findings so far did not add up, she was not in the right place. Hermione could not hold it in anymore as the Tempus spell showed that it was now 11:11 pm, she started to sob.

The sobs wracked her whole body loud and uncontrolled, she did not worry about the two people or things upstairs. If they killed her she deserved it, she failed her friends and there was nothing left for her in this world.
