Summary
Hermione and Ron were always destined for each other, that's what shed been told and what she believed. so when she walked in on him making out with lavender brown a peace of her broke but not as much as she would have expected. what she felt is betrayal but not heart break. bruised by it she distances herself from her old friend pouring her time into study avoiding the common room at all costs, favouring the library which was always occupied by another soul. To her annoyance Draco Malfoy haunted the shelves just as much as she did never failing to give her a scathing remark. they both intend to be the top of the class. they are always on each others heals in lessons never quite gaining headway upon the other

Chapter 1

Hermione rushed past the portrait whole to congratulate her friends on winning the quidditch match, over joyed for them and they're victory, despite the fact that she herself did not care for the sport much. as she jostled through the crowd to find them. she was greeted with Ron viciously making out with lavender brown. her breath caught in her throat as she felt herself choke slightly, she was caught off guard she though, well she had thought that he would be going to Slughorns party with her. and besides that she thought her and Ron were supposed to be together. everyone said they'd end up together so much so that she to had come to believe it. but looking at this sight she supposed he didn't. she was brought back to her senses as she turned her head obverting her eyes from the scene they were making. she found Harrys green eyes staring at her intently with sympathy in them, she didn't want his sympathy she didn't need it. she was fine. Ron was entitled to do whatever he wanted, and he looked like a lousy kisser anyway she didn't need him. but she still felt a tear slip down her cheek involuntarily. she wished she could stop the flood of them she knew to be coming, but she knew she couldn't so she shoved people out of the way trying to leave the common room. she felt Harrys hand on her shoulder but she couldn't cope with staring into his face filled with pity so she muttered some unintelligible words about going to the bath room for want of an explanation to give and brushed him of as she left
