Regulus and the Marauders are in a corner of the Great Hall, actually saying they were together is a tad bit of an overstatement. The Marauders are huddled in their own group and Regulus seems to be shunted off to the side. Regulus is used to being left out, so he isn’t complaining and even if he did, Sirius would kick off.
Dear Diary: It’s been 3 weeks since I became friends with the Marauders.
Regulus laughs a little to himself hearing the absurdity and unfamiliarity of the words. He looks over at The Marauders and shakes his head a little, before returning to his diary.
Actually, friends isn’t the right word. It’s more like the Marauders are people I work with. And our job is being popular and shit.
The rest of the students slowly file into the Great Hall. Regulus had been missing out more and more of his lessons over the past three weeks, but he’d rather be popular than nerdy.
Severus walks into the Great Hall and scans his eyes around the vast room searching for Regulus, when he spots him amidst the crowd with The Marauders he hesitantly ventures over to Regulus, “hey, Regulus” he says putting on a friendly smile.
Regulus looks at Severus and smiles straight back at him, as much as The Marauders hate him, Regulus can’t help but feel sorry for the guy “hey!”
Severus looks Regulus up and down almost studiously, “you really do look beautiful these days.”
Regulus says “aw, thank you.” He then shrugs “but it’s still the same me underneath.” As Regulus heard himself say the words, he didn’t even believe himself.
Severus tilts his head to the side, peering at Regulus “are you sure?” He asks quietly.
Regulus is silent for a moment, it was a simple question, but it hurt all the same. He clears his throat “oh, look I’m- I’m really sorry that I flaked on you last week. I’ve had a lot going on.” Severus used to be Regulus’ best friend and Regulus feels bad that he can’t hang out with him as much as he used to.
Severus smiles supportively “I get that. You’re with the Marauders now.” He feigns excitement as he says “that’s exciting.”
Regulus could tell that Severus was hurt but he didn’t know what to do “it’s whatever, but we’ll hang out soon, I promise.”
Peter calls Regulus from the Gryffindor table, they had walked over whilst Regulus and Severus were talking “Regulus! Sirius says to haul ass to the table pronto.” He gestures for Regulus to join him.
Regulus sighs “how very” he looks at Severus feeling bad that he has to leave him for The Marauders yet again, but Severus was already walking away. He stands up and walks over to the Gryffindor table where The Marauders are seated.
Sirius stands up to face Regulus, his hair is a mess, his lips red and there was a hickey on his jaw indicating that he and Remus had only just stopped making out moments beforehand. Regulus keeps himself from rolling his eyes. “Regulus, I need a forgery in Lily Evans’ handwriting. You’ll need something to write on.” Sirius looks at Peter, “Peter, bend over.” Sometimes it was hard to believe that Sirius was a bottom with how controlling he is.
Peter slowly bends over, knowing if he doesn't Sirius will force him to, and Regulus hesitantly places the notepad on his back, beginning to write.
Sirius tells Regulus what to write “hello, handsome. I’ve been watching you and thinking about us in the old days. I hope you can come to the party in my dorm tomorrow night. Miss you, Lily. Oh, put an “xo” after the signature.”
Regulus writes it down as instructed “what’s this for anyway?” He asks, glancing at Sirius.
Sirius grins, “I just found out that Lily used to hangout with Snivellus Snape,” he declares as though it was groundbreaking information.
Regulus shrugs not seeing the importance “well, yeah, in first year. We all did.”
Peter laughs “we all didn’t kiss on the Quidditch field.”
Remus, who had been gazing admiringly at Sirius, says in realisation “oh, that’s right, I remember. Lily kissed Snivellus Snape.” He laughed, “it was disgusting.”
Sirius reads the note over Regulus’ shoulder “perfect.” He snatches the note from Regulus’ grasp as Lily enters. He waves Lily over “Lily!”
Lily breaks away from her own friend group to find out what Sirius wants, she smiles at the group “Hey! What’s up?”
Sirius flashes his signature swoon-worthy smile “be a sweetie and give this note to Snivellus for me.”
Regulus glares at Sirius “what? No!”
Lily takes the note from Sirius and starts unfolding it. If she’s going to be an accessory to what she can only assume is a prank, she at least wants to know what exactly the prank is.
Sirius says quickly, thinking quicker than Regulus is sure he’s ever thought before, “oh, don’t read it! He’s having a hard time getting it up and wanted some advice from me.”
Sirius’ reason was so ridiculously disgusting that Lily almost immediately hands the note back to Regulus “ew!”
Sirius looks at Regulus as Regulus goes to light the note on fire “what are you doing?” he asks, obviously shocked that Regulus would even have the audacity to go against his command.
Regulus says, hating the pleading tone in his voice “please don’t do this, okay? Not to Severus.”
Peter laughs “what? It’ll give him shower masturbation material for weeks.”
Sirius glares sharply at him “shut up, Peter!”
Peter winces as though Sirius had physically struck him “sorry, Sirius!”
Regulus says practically begging his brother to not do this “Severus has had a thing for Lily for like 6 years now, okay? This- this would kill him.”
Sirius looks at Regulus annoyed “are we gonna have a problem? You got a bone to pick? You’ve come so far, why now are you pulling on my dick?” He steps closer to Regulus, invading his personal space “I’d normally slap your face off and everyone here could watch. But I’m feeling nice. Here’s some advice. Listen up, biotch! I like looking hot, buying stuff they cannot. I like drinking hard, maxing Dad’s credit card.”
Regulus has to hold back a laugh, Sirius has never once lived off their father.
“I like skipping gym, scaring her, screwing him. I like killer clothes. Kicking nerds in the nose! If you lack the balls, you can go play with dolls, let your mommy fix you a snack.” Sirius’ eyes were harsh as he said that last sentence, Regulus could feel himself holding back tears. “Or you could smoke, pound some rum and coke in my Porsche with the quarterback!”
Peter interjects, surprisingly without protest from Sirius “guys fall at your feet, pay the check, help you cheat. All you have to do, say goodbye to Shamoo.”
Remus stands up so he can speak directly to Regulus “that freak’s not your friend, I can tell you in the end if he had your shot he would leave you to rot! ‘Course if you don’t care, fine. Go brush his hair, maybe Sesame Street is on. Or forget that creep.”
Regulus wasn’t so surprised about the lack of protestation towards Remus’ interjection because as daring as Sirius is he would never argue with Remus, especially not in public. What surprised him most about Remus’ words is the fact that he, of all fucking people, called Severus a freak.
Peter says “and get in my jeep.”
Sirius grins, leaning against Remus “let’s go tear up someone’s lawn!”
Regulus was too focused on what Sirius keeps making comments about to notice that Peter had handed the note to Severus.
Sirius grips Regulus’ wrist as Regulus goes to stop Peter, “you can join the team, or you can bitch and moan. You can live the dream, or you can die alone! You can fly with eagles, or if you prefer, keep on testing me. And end up like him!” He says fiercely.
Severus walks over to Regulus, very obviously excited over the note he has just been handed.
Severus says, beaming “Regulus, look! Lily invited me to the party at Gryffindor’s common room. See, I told you there was still something there! This proves she’s been thinking about me.”
Regulus says, still feeling Sirius’ hand clenched tightly around his wrist “… Colour me stoked.”
Sirius lets go of Regulus’ wrist and saunters off with Remus, probably going to go make out some more. Regulus rubs his wrist where Sirius gripped it.
Severus is smiling at the note “I’m so happy!”
