Love Hangover
2016
Jennie didn’t consider herself the jealous type. Really, she didn’t. But Lisa was making it very difficult for her to prove that.
Because Lisa was too friendly. Too touchy. Too good at making Jennie want to throw something.
Right now, they should be celebrating. They just won their third music show, and Jisoo—ever the mastermind—decided they’d mark the occasion with a hidden stash of soju and takeout at the dorm. It had been fun, Jennie had felt elated—but that was earlier.
Now? The joy was long gone, drowned out by the gnawing feeling twisting in her stomach.
Lisa had Chaeyoung in a headlock, grinning ear to ear as she ruffled the other blonde girl’s hair.
“Lisa-yah, I can’t breathe!” Rosé wheezed, flailing her arms.
Lisa just cackled, holding on tighter. “Too bad! You’re my favorite sister!”
Jennie clenched her jaw. Sister. Okay, fine. That was harmless. She could handle that.
But then Lisa poked Chaeyoung’s cheek, tilting her head in that teasing way of hers. “But actually, Chaeyoung, if I had to date one of you guys, I think it’d be you.”
Jennie’s stomach dropped.
Jisoo whipped her head around at lightning speed. “WHAT?”
Rosé gasped dramatically. “Oh my god, I’m honored.”
Lisa laughed, patting Rosé’s head. “You should be!”
Jennie? Oh, Jennie was seething.
How. Dare. She.
Lisa, of all people, had the audacity to say she’d date Chaeyoung? After years of teasing Jennie since they were trainees? After that one interview in their rookie days where Lisa literally said she wanted to date Jennie because she was sexy?!
What changed?!
Jisoo, the troublemaker, slid next to Jennie, eyes twinkling. “You okay, Miss Kim?”
Jennie huffed. “I’m fine.”
Jisoo chuckled. “Right. That’s why you’re gripping your phone like you want to throw it at Lisa’s head.”
Jennie didn’t dignify that with a response. Instead, she called Lisa out.
“Oh, so now you’d date Chaeyoung?” she said, voice deceptively sweet.
Lisa turned to her, blinking. “Huh?”
Jennie crossed her arms. “That’s funny, because I distinctly remember a certain interview where you said you wanted to date me because I was sexy.”
Jisoo gasped dramatically. “Oh, she’s bringing receipts.”
Rosé giggled. “Unnie, you remember that?”
Jennie ignored her. She was too busy glaring at Lisa, who suddenly looked like she’d been caught red-handed.
Lisa cleared her throat. “Uh, well—”
Jennie raised an eyebrow.
Lisa fidgeted.
Jisoo smirked. “Lisa, explain yourself.”
Lisa groaned, rubbing the back of her neck. “I mean… Jennie’s still sexy.”
Jennie stared. “That’s it?”
Lisa scratched her cheek. “...And she’s kinda my type?”
Jisoo gasped again. “OH?”
Rosé clapped her hands. “CONFESSION?”
Lisa turned red. “Shut up!”
Jennie smirked. “You like me.”
Lisa pouted. “You’re not supposed to say it first.”
Jennie rolled her eyes but couldn’t fight the warmth spreading in her chest.
Lisa huffed, crossing her arms. “I just said Chaeyoung to mess with you.”
Jennie’s smirk grew. “Oh? You were trying to make me jealous?”
Lisa froze. “Wait—”
Jennie leaned in slightly. “You totally were.”
Lisa panicked. “That’s not—”
“You wanted to see if I’d react.”
Lisa covered her face. “I hate you.”
Jennie giggled, but deep down, her heart was doing dangerous flips.
Lisa liked her. She really liked her.
Jennie could handle a little jealousy. And then it's Lisa's turn.
They were at YG, taking a break from practice, when one of the company’s male trainees—Donghyun, or whatever his name was—walked up to Jennie with a small, shy smile.
“Noona, I got you some sandwiches. I know you always skip lunch, so…” He rubbed the back of his neck, looking down bashfully.
Jennie blinked. Oh. That was… sweet?
Before she could even respond, a sharp, very familiar voice interrupted.
“Wow. That’s interesting.”
Lisa was standing behind them, arms crossed, expression unreadable.
Jennie felt something shift in the air. Lisa’s usual playfulness was gone, replaced by something she couldn’t quite place.
Donghyun hesitated, glancing between the two of them. “Uh, I should—”
“You should,” Lisa said flatly.
Jennie was too stunned to react as the poor guy scurried off, leaving her holding the sandwiches.
Lisa raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t know you were into trainees, Jennie.”
“What—” Jennie frowned. “Lisa, are you seriously upset right now?”
Lisa huffed, plopping down next to her. “I don’t know. Are you seriously accepting sandwiches from random guys?”
“Oh my God.” Jennie groaned. “You flirt with Jisoo and Chaeyoung all the time, but I can’t take a sandwich from someone?”
“That’s different.”
“How?”
Lisa pouted. “Because it just is.”
Jennie stared at her. And then it clicked. The tight jaw, the way Lisa’s fingers were fidgeting, the slight redness at the tips of her ears.
Oh.
“You’re jealous,” Jennie realized.
Lisa’s eyes widened. “What? No.”
“You totally are.”
“I’m not!” Lisa’s voice cracked.
Jennie smirked. “Lalisa Manoban, are you jealous of a sandwich?”
Lisa groaned, covering her face. “I hate you.”
“No, you don’t.”
Lisa peeked through her fingers. “…No, I don’t.”
A warm, fluttery feeling spread through Jennie’s chest. She didn’t know what possessed her to do it, but she reached out, pulling Lisa’s hands away from her face.
“You like me,” Jennie said softly.
Lisa swallowed. “Yeah. Kinda a lot.”
Jennie bit her lip. Her heart was racing.
“Jennie?” Lisa fidgeted. “Do you… like me too?”
Jennie didn’t answer. Instead, she took the sandwich, unwrapped it, and held it up to Lisa’s mouth.
Lisa blinked. “What?”
“Eat.”
Lisa’s lips twitched. “Are you feeding me as a confession?”
“Take it or leave it.”
Lisa grinned, taking a bite.
Silence stretched between them, comfortable, warm. Lisa chewed, looking at Jennie with something soft in her eyes.
Jennie sighed, tilting her head. “I’ve never liked anyone as much as I like you, you know?”
Lisa froze.
Jennie’s cheeks burned. “It’s… annoying. How much I like you.”
Lisa blinked once. Twice. Then, suddenly, she lunged, wrapping her arms around Jennie and knocking them both over.
Jennie shrieked. “Yah! Lalisa!”
Lisa just laughed, hugging her tight. “Say it again.”
“No.”
“Say it, Jennie.”
“Nope.”
Lisa squeezed her tighter. “Say it or I’ll never let go.”
Jennie groaned. “Ugh, you’re so annoying.”
Lisa only grinned against her shoulder. “And you like me anyway.”
Jennie sighed, relaxing into the hug. “…Yeah. I do.”
Lisa’s arms around her tightened, warm and sure.
Jisoo’s voice rang from across the room. “THIS IS BETTER THAN A DRAMA.”
Rosé sniffled. “I’m so emotional right now.”
Jennie and Lisa groaned.
But neither of them let go.

“Tell me again why we’re sneaking out at 2 a.m.?” Lisa whispered, adjusting the hood of her jacket.
Jennie grinned, tugging her along. “Because if we stay cooped up any longer, I’ll go insane. Come on, it’s just a short walk.”
Lisa sighed but let Jennie pull her down the quiet Seoul streets. The city was asleep, lights glowing dimly, the air crisp against their skin. It was one of the few moments they could exist just as them—not as Blackpink’s Jennie and Lisa, but as two girls who wanted freedom.
Lisa squeezed Jennie’s hand, swinging their arms between them. “Okay, but where are we even going?”
Jennie glanced at her with a knowing smirk. “You’ll see.”
Lisa pouted. “Is it food?”
Jennie laughed. “Of course it’s food.”
They ended up at a small, 24-hour tteokbokki stall, ordering in hushed voices while keeping their faces hidden.
Lisa watched as Jennie took the first bite, her lips wrapping around the chopsticks, eyes fluttering shut in delight.
Lisa gulped. Damn.
“You’re staring.”
Lisa blinked, caught red-handed. “Huh? No.”
Jennie smirked, licking sauce off her thumb. “Yes.”
Lisa groaned, burying her face in her hands. “I hate you.”
Jennie giggled, nudging her knee under the table. “No, you don’t, hon.”
Lisa flustered.
Jennie didn’t seem to notice, still chewing happily.
Lisa, on the other hand, felt like the world had tilted.
Hon.
Her heart did a weird little flip.
Jennie looked up. “Why are you staring at me?”
Lisa shook her head, her cheeks warm. “No reason, gorgeous.”
This time, Jennie choked on her food.
Lisa smirked.
Yeah. Two can play this game.
~
Jennie had seen Lisa dance a million times. She had watched her grow from a bright-eyed trainee to one of the best performers in the industry.
But nothing prepared her for this.
Lisa stood at the center of the practice room, drenched in sweat, her hoodie discarded on the floor, a tight tank top clinging to her skin. Her movements were sharp, fluid, dangerous—like she was meant to be on stage, commanding the world.
Jennie swallowed hard.
Oh god.
Lisa was too much. Too sexy. Too unreal.
Lisa rolled her hips, letting the beat consume her, her fingers running through her damp blonde hair.
Jennie felt her throat go dry.
Lisa caught her staring in the mirror and grinned. “You okay, baby?”
Jennie choked on air.
Lisa stilled too, eyes widening.
Uh oh.
Oh.
Jennie turned red, scrambling for a response. “I—What—”
Lisa took a step closer, her smirk teasing but her eyes soft. “You liked that, huh?”
Jennie scoffed, crossing her arms. “I think you’re annoying.”
Lisa laughed, reaching out to flick a strand of Jennie’s hair. “But I’m still your baby, right?”
Jennie turned scarlet. “Oh my god, shut up.”
Lisa just grinned, but her ears were pink too.
Yeah. They were so screwed.
~
Lisa knew everything about Jennie.
She knew Jennie needed two sugars in her coffee but only one in her tea. She knew Jennie liked her pillows cold, and that she hated wearing socks to sleep. She knew Jennie got quiet when she was upset, but if you handed her a drink without asking, she’d take it as an “I’m here for you” without words.
So when Jennie walked into the studio, shoulders slumped, eyes heavy, Lisa didn’t say anything. She just handed her a cold peach iced tea.
Jennie blinked, looking at the drink, then at Lisa.
“You’re upset,” Lisa said simply.
Jennie swallowed. “How do you always know?”
Lisa shrugged. “Because it’s you, love.”
Jennie’s breath hitched.
Lisa froze.
Jennie narrowed her eyes, stepping closer. “What did you just call me?”
Lisa panicked. Was it too soon? “I—uh—”
Jennie smirked. “You’re getting bold.”
Lisa scratched the back of her neck, muttering, “Well, you started it.”
Jennie hummed, taking a sip of the tea, her lips curving into a smile. “Maybe I like it.”
Lisa nearly short-circuited.
~
Their bodies ached from days of nonstop performances, guestings, and promotions. Every muscle burned, exhaustion sinking deep into their bones.
Jennie barely had the energy to change into her pajamas before collapsing onto the bed with a quiet sigh. Lisa, just as drained, sat beside her, watching as Jennie curled into the blankets, her breaths slowing.
The brunette was too cute. Too lovely.
Lisa smiled softly, thinking Jennie had already drifted off. Carefully, she leaned in, pressing the gentlest kiss to Jennie’s nose.
“Goodnight, baby,” Lisa whispered, tucking the blanket around her. Then, quieter, full of warmth, she added, “I love you.”
Jennie blinked sleepily, her lashes fluttering.
Lisa's heart stilled, caught surprise in the moment.
Then, Jennie smiled—soft and sweet, the kind of smile that made Lisa’s heart melt into nothing.
“Good,” Jennie murmured, voice drowsy but sure, “because I love you.”
Lisa’s breath hitched.
And just like that, she was gone.

Lisa never thought she’d be jealous in a relationship.
But then again, she never thought she’d be dating Jennie Kim, either.
Jennie, who was now standing across the room, laughing at something a popular boy group member had said.
Lisa clenched her jaw.
She knew it was nothing—just an industry thing. Networking. Being friendly. But that guy had been hovering around Jennie all night, lingering just a little too close, watching her like she was something he wanted to own.
And Jennie? She was just too nice, too polite to brush him off completely.
Lisa took a sip of her drink, barely hearing Rosé beside her.
“You’re scowling,” Rosé muttered, nudging her.
Lisa exhaled through her nose. “Am I?”
Jisoo chuckled from the other side. “You look like you’re about to commit a crime.”
Lisa scoffed. “Please, I’m chill.”
Jisoo smirked. “Then why are you crushing your drink like you wanna murder it?”
Lisa glanced down—her fingers had tightened around the plastic cup, the liquid inside shaking from the pressure.
Damn it.
She forced herself to relax, rolling her shoulders back. But then she saw him again—laughing, leaning in slightly, way too close—and before Lisa could stop herself, she was already moving.
Rosé sighed. “Oh no.”
Jisoo grinned. “Oh yes.”
Jennie barely had time to react before Lisa appeared at her side, sliding an arm around her waist like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Hey, baby,” Lisa murmured, pressing a kiss to her temple.
Jennie froze.
Her eyes widened slightly, but Lisa just smiled, ignoring the way the guy stiffened beside them.
The message was clear. She’s taken. Back off.
Jennie quickly recovered, her lips twitching in amusement. “Hi, hon,” she hummed, leaning into Lisa’s touch just a little too much.
Lisa felt the guy shift awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Oh, uh, you two seem… close.”
Lisa grinned, her fingers tightening possessively around Jennie’s waist. “Yeah, we are.”
Jennie bit back a laugh. God, she loved this woman.
“Anyway,” Lisa continued, her voice as sweet as honey, but her eyes sharp as daggers, “thanks for keeping my Jennie company, but she’s all mine now.”
Jennie swore she saw the exact moment the guy realized.
“Oh—oh! Right, of course, um, I’ll just—yeah.”
He practically bolted.
Jennie turned to Lisa, eyebrows raised. “Did you just scare him away?”
Lisa shrugged. “Maybe.”
Jennie chuckled. “And the PDA? What happened to keeping us lowkey?”
Lisa sighed, resting her forehead against Jennie’s. “I know, I know, but he was looking at you like you belonged to him, and I—”
Jennie tilted Lisa’s chin up, meeting her eyes. “Hey,” she murmured. “I belong to you. No one else.”
Lisa exhaled, her fingers brushing Jennie’s cheek. “Say it again.”
Jennie smiled. “I’m yours, Lisa.”
Lisa groaned, pulling her in by the waist, noses brushing, breaths mixing. “Damn right, you are.”
~
Living together should have made things easier.
It didn’t.
Because Lisa couldn’t act on impulse when Jennie walked around in nothing but an oversized sweatshirt. She couldn’t pull her into bed when they were both exhausted from schedules but still aching for each other.
And she definitely couldn’t kiss Jennie breathless when they were being filmed 24/7 for the YG reality show Blackpink House.
It was torture.
They have a short break, production staff were sleeping, cameras are mostly off except the individual cameras they have to bring everywhere.
“You’re staring again,” Jennie teased.
Lisa didn’t even pretend to deny it. “And?”
Jennie smirked. “And you’re obvious.”
Lisa groaned, flopping onto the couch dramatically. “You exist, Jennie. That’s the problem.”
Jennie giggled, climbing onto the couch beside her, half-straddling her lap. “What are you gonna do about it?”
Lisa swallowed. Jennie was evil.
She grabbed Jennie’s hips, pulling her flush against her. “You’re playing a dangerous game, baby.”
Jennie leaned in, her lips ghosting over Lisa’s jawline. “Maybe I like danger.”
Lisa shuddered.
She was about to lose it when suddenly—
“Ugh, get a room!”
They turned to see Jisoo and Rosé standing in the doorway, arms crossed, expressions somewhere between amusement and secondhand embarrassment.
Jennie just grinned, not even bothering to move. “This is our room.”
Jisoo groaned. “I hate it here.”
Rosé sighed. “Just not on the couch, okay?”
Lisa snorted. “No promises.”
"There are cameras everwhere, pabos!" Jisoo hissed and threw a plushie their way.
~
One night, after a long day of schedules, Lisa lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.
Jennie shifted beside her. “Can’t sleep?”
Lisa sighed. “Just thinking.”
Jennie propped herself up on her elbow, gazing at her. “About what?”
Lisa hesitated.
About how much she loved her.
About how much it hurt to keep them hidden.
About how every damn boy idol in the industry seemed to want Jennie, and how Lisa had to pretend it didn’t bother her.
But then Jennie reached for her hand, lacing their fingers together.
And suddenly, none of it mattered.
Lisa turned to her, brushing stray hair from her face. “You know I’d do this forever, right?”
Jennie smiled. “Do what?”
Lisa squeezed her hand. “Love you in secret.”
Jennie’s expression softened.
She leaned in, pressing a kiss to Lisa’s lips—slow, deep, full of everything she couldn’t say out loud.
Then, whispering against her mouth, she murmured, “As long as you love me, it’s worth it.”
Lisa pulled her closer, their foreheads touching. “Baby, I’ve only ever loved you.”
Jennie’s breath hitched.
And in that quiet, hidden world of theirs—it was enough.
