CHAPTER THREE (Regulus' POV)
Not having Sirius around was having more of an effect on Regulus than he wanted to admit. He honestly just wasn't used to the silence that had become a constant for the past few weeks. He felt strangely empty now that he was alone most of the time. Regulus blamed it all on James.
Just when Regulus had gotten Sirius back when summer started, James had to screw it all up and ask Sirius to spend the last few weeks at his place. He knew he was being petty, but having someone to blame made him feel better.
Regulus had actually been getting used to the solitude when fall started and it was time for him to start his freshman year. “Hurry up for the love of god, Regulus!” Walburga screeched from the driver’s seat.
Regulus groaned as he slid into the back seat with his multiple bags. He didn't exactly hate his mother, but he was close to it and it was moments like these that made him want to hate her. Regulus put his earbuds in and started to play the audiobook he had been listening to recently. (i think Regulus would love audiobooks lol)
As he looked out the window, Regulus’ thoughts turned to James Potter. He found himself thinking of James quite often nowadays. At first over the summer, Regulus thought he was just experiencing extremely strong dislike towards James. However as it got worse Regulus realized, to his dismay, that he did not dislike James at all, in fact he would go as far as to say he liked him.
And that was the problem, Regulus liked James Potter, but he also hated him. Well he didn't exactly like James per se, he actually finds James incredibly annoying and much too loud. He was just undeniably attracted to him. It wasn't anything Regulus couldn't handle, he was totally in control of it. At least that's what he told himself as the car pulled into his new college’s overly expensive paved driveway. This'll be a good James-Potter-free year.
