The Slipper Fiasco Part 2
Everyone had agreed to gather in the common room the day they got from Christmas break after the feast. Remus was reading a book on the armchair, Peter and Marlene were playing chess on the floor, Mary was sitting next to Marlene watching the game, Sirius was perched on the arm of the chair Remus was in, James had just left the common room saying he’ll be back and Lily sat on the couch.
“Evans!” James shouted racing down the stairs. “I almost forgot I got you one more gift!” James had already gifted Lily more gifts than she could’ve ever expected.
“James.” Lily said “You didn’t have to get me so much.” as a baluch crept up her face.
“Course’ I did! Trust me this is the best one!”
Lily noticed the fact that Sirius, Peter, and James all started laughing a bit but didn’t think anything of it until she opened the gift. “James I swear!” She shouted as she opened the gift to reveal the Gryffindor slippers.
Mary and Marlene burst out laughing along with Sirius, Peter, and James. Remus even laughed a bit and smirked at Lily. “I got Pete and Moony pairs too!” James said excitedly.
“Yeah we all match!” Sirius added.
“At least try them on!” Marlene was practically begging Lily later that night as the girls were getting ready for bed.
“Yeah Lil! They’re amazing!” Mary added.
“Ugh fine!” Lily exclaimed as she slipped her feet into the slippers. “Oh.”
“Comfortable, right?” Mary asked.
“You better not tell Potter!” Lily said with a small laugh.
“I’d never.” Mary said quickly. The two both turned to Marlene.
“I swear I won’t!”
Lily sat up in her bed. It was a week after Christmas Break and she had so much to do. She laid awake for about an hour now. She was going mad in the quiet dorm before anyone woke up. She remembered suddenly she left a book she was reading the night before in the common room. She slipped on the pair of shoes closest to her bed and walked down into the common room. Once she got down she decided to just sit in the chair for a while and read. Before she could start reading she heard something. “Mornin’ Evans!” James called cheerily dressed for Quidditch “What’re you doin’ up?”
Lily shrugged “Couldn't sleep so I came to read my book here.”
“Right.” James nodded. Lily noticed a smirk come across his face.
“What?” she sighed. She knew that look and knew something was about to happen.
“Nothin’” James said. Lily looked at him quizzically before he added “See you like my gift then.”
“What?” Lily asked confusedly before she looked down at her feet. She groaned. She was wearing the bloody slippers. “Potter you better not…”
James cut her off “Oh, everyone’s gonna know.” He said laughing as he left the common room and walked towards the pitch.
A bunch of Gryffindors were all hanging out in the common room. It had been a week since James caught Lily wearing the slippers and that was the final straw. All of the Gryffindors were wearing the Gryffindor slippers, not just in their year.
“We should add this to the uniform.” Marlene said.
“Definitely Marls.” Mary said. The two were sitting on the floor by the firepit.
“Our trend caught on then.” James said with a laugh looking at Sirius as James draped his arm over Lily.
“I knew it would!” Sirius replied from the armchair.
“Sure you did. That’s why you practically hid them.” Remus said to him perched next to him on the chair.
“Oi!” The two were both smirking at each other.
“Obviously! They’re brilliant!” Marlene exclaimed.
“The Marauders did it again!” Mary shouted.
“Course’ we did!” James added. Pete looked over at him nodding.
“We always do.” Sirius laughed.
“At least it boosts house pride…” Lily started
“Told you it’d be your best gift.” James said, nudging into Lily lightly in a playful manner. Everyone laughed at that.
