The Slipper Fiasco Part 1
James woke to feel Lily in bed beside him. It was her first time staying the night in the boy’s dormitory and James felt bad about having to leave but wanted to practice today. He carefully slipped out from the covers and put his closest shoes on, he was trying to be as quiet as possible as he grabbed his quaffle and continued walking towards the bathroom to get dressed.
“James?” Lily must’ve noticed.
“Sorry I was going to go out and practice,” he said quietly.
Lily paused for a second “Are…Are you wearing Gryffindor Slippers?” she said in a joking tone.
“Yeah! Awesome aren’t they?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Finally! Someone bloody agrees with me!” Remus called from his bed, having been woken by the couple.
“Your boyfriend has a pair too!” James called to make his point.
“Oi! Leave me out of this you prick!” Sirius called sleepily from Remus’ bed.
“I quite like your slippers.” Peter added quietly.
“See Evans!” James shouted triumphantly, all attempts at quietness gone.
“Just because Peter agrees with you doesn’t mean anything.” Lily replied.
“No, but it’s three to two.” he shot back.
Lily jumped out of his bed. So much for them getting sleep. “Well then I’m asking the girls what they think!” She quickly left the dormitory and went off towards the common room.
“You reckon Marlene’s going to like them?” Sirius asked after drawing Remus’ drapes back so James could see them.
“Definitely.”
“Mary too.” He said with a laugh. James laughed back. Remus rolled his eyes at them and Peter pulled back his drapes.
“I know what I’m getting Evans for Christmas this year then, eh lads?” James said with a smirk.
“Prongs, that's not very bright.” Remus chided.
“I think it’s bloody brilliant!” Sirius called at around the same time.
“Lily wouldn’t like it mate…” Pete added.
Lily barged into the girl’s dormitory loudly.
“Oi! What gives?” Marlene shouted.
“Lily! Where were you?” Mary added at the same time as the other girl. Lily thought the two were so in sync it was mental.
“Boy’s dormitory I have a ques…”
Both girls interrupted her at the time. “Oh! With Potter were you?” Mary said suggestively.
“Ohhhh! Nice Lil that’s…” Marlene started.
“Guys!” Lily exclaimed, stopping them “James wears Gryffindor slippers, how ridiculous is that?”
“WHAT? I need a pair. Where did he get them?” Marlene said, upset that her childhood friend hadn’t told her about them.
“Are you Joking?!” Lily practically yelled.
“No….” the blonde said hesitantly.
“Fucks sake. Mary, at least tell me you have some common sense?”
“…They do sound kind of cute..”
“Mental! The lot of you!” Lily called upset she was losing the bet and her friends had such abysmal taste in footwear.
“So…where are they from?” Marlene asked, causing Mary to dissolve into a fit of giggles while Lily rolled her eyes and flopped into her bed. “What? I’m serious!”
“Oi Evans! How’d it go?” James called as Lilly walked down for breakfast later that morning.
“Shut it Potter.” Lily replied.
“I reckon we were right, eh, Prongs?” Situs asked loudly.
“We’re always right mate!” he replied. Lily rolled her eyes at the boys who all started laughing and focused on her food.
“Oi! McKinnon! Nice slippers!” James called to Marlene in the common room the next day.
“I know I love them!” Marlene called back showing the same pair that James and Sirius both had.
“Brilliant! I’ll get mine” Sirius called before running up to the dormitories.
“Wait up Padfoot!” James called, following to get his.
At that moment Mary walked down wearing her slippers. Lily groaned and sat on the couch. “At least you're still sane.” She said to Remus who sat on the couch reading a book.
“Right!” Remus said with a laugh as James and Sirius raced back down nearly toppling down the stairs.
