Domestic bliss
“Oh! Severus, look at this one!” Lily screamed, grabbing her husband's hand and dragging him over to the sixteenth crib today.
Severus wasn’t big on shopping but he wanted this nursery to be perfect. If it was perfect it meant Lily was happy, and that’s all it took for Severus to be happy.
They had already bought a dresser, a rocking chair, and a diaper changing table, all she wanted now was a crib.
It took hours before she found a light pink one she liked, and begged Severus as soon as they were in the door to put it all together.
Rolling his eyes and kissing his wife, Severus headed off to put everything together while Lily started dinner.
He didn’t really want her cooking while she was pregnant, he wanted her to rest as much as possible, but he knew his wife was stubborn and wanted to stay active so he didn’t comment on it much.
Besides she was a beautiful cook and he enjoyed every bite of her food.
He had managed to set up the crib by the time she had finished dinner, he made his way to the dining room and had a seat across from Lily.
“So have you thought of any more names?” Lily asked with a smile, making Severus chuckle in return, “not really love, have you?”
“Well I was thinking.. and don’t get mad okay,” she said nervously, to which Severus tilted his head, “I could never Lilypad, what is it?”
“Well you lost your mother last year, and I know you haven’t always had the best relationship but she did love us both very much,” Lily cleared her throat, “so i was thinking maybe, Eileen Iris, it keeps my flower theme while also honoring your mother.”
Severus very rarely felt strong emotions, but even now he had some tears welling up in his eyes, “oh Lily I love it, come here love,” he pulled his wife up out of her chair, connecting their lips softly as he cupped her cheeks.
“it’s perfect, just like she will be,” he whispered gently in her ear.

It took a few days but eventually Severus had everything put together and set up how Lily wanted. “Oh Sevvy, it’s so beautiful, she’s going to love it.”
Severus smiled, putting his hand over her belly, kissing her temple softly. “Yes I do believe she will my love.”
Each time they went to the store Lily found something else she wanted for the nursery, a lamp here, some outfits there, and everytime Severus handed over the money.
Severus was excited about being a dad, and he was even more excited at how excited Lily was to be a mom. Seeing the amount of joy she had over picking out names and cribs kept him happy.
“Lily put that down,” he scolded, taking the rather heavy rocking chair out of his wife’s hands, “you can’t be lifting all of this weight.”
“Well I want it over there, so I was going to put it there,” Lily stated matter of factly. Crossing her arms at her husband.
“Well then you just tell me where to put it and I will place it there,” Severus stated plainly, rolling his eyes.
Lily glared for a second longer then giggled and huffed, “well fine set it over there,” she pointed and giggled again when Severus saluted.
He sat the chair where she wanted, and chuckled when she plopped down in it. He grabbed the foot rest that came with the rocker and set it infront of the chair, picking up her feet and setting them on it.
“There, how’s that love?” He said, kissing her forehead, “it’s great, now I can just watch you work.”
And that’s exactly what she did, watching in admiration as the love of her life put everything together perfectly.
They had their ups and down, and they didn’t always see eye to eye, both too stubborn to admit when they were wrong, but they loved each other. They really did.

“Oh Sev,” Lily said with tears in her eyes, “it’s absolutely perfect, all of it. Thank you,” She leaned up on her tip toes and connected their lips for a chaste kiss.
“Only the best for you,” He said softly, kissing her temple. They headed downstairs to start dinner, but Lily stopped halfway on the steps.
“Severus,” Lily said, making him stop in his tracks, “yes love?” He mumbled, turning around, his eyes widening.
“Grab the hospital bag please, my water just broke,” Severus cursed and nodded, heading back up the stairs to the nursery where their already packed hospital bag was.
“Oh my, what do we do, what do we do?” Severus was mumbling to himself, grabbing everything they needed. Lily groaned as a contraction started, and looked up at Severus, “just grab the bag and get me to the car Sev.”
Severus looked up, finally realizing he was talking out loud and nodded, “shit, okay.”

Severus was wiping the sweat off of Lily’s forehead, “you did so good, Lils, so good,” he said gently, watching closely as the doctors weighed and measured their daughter.
“There she is darling, she’s perfect,” the doctor said, laying the baby girl on Lily’s chest. Lily looked at her baby, and then looked up at Severus who was no doubt wiping his tears as he looked down at his new daughter.
“She’s beautiful,” he whispered, “you’re both so beautiful.” He kissed the baby’s head, and then leaned up to kiss Lily’s head.
“Eileen Iris Snape, our beautiful girl,” Lily whispered softly, holding the baby to her chest. With tears in her eyes she looked up again at her husband, “I love you so much Severus.”
“I love you too Lilypad,” he whispered back, kissing her softly, “and you my sweet little flower,” he said to the small baby.
He had been nervous for fatherhood, but looking at his girls now he had nothing but love and admiration in his heart.
