First fight (of the season)
Severus groaned, throwing himself back on Lily’s bed, “I don’t understand you, at all,” he spat, refusing to make eye contact.
“It’s not that big of a deal Severus honestly, I can hang out with whoever I want!” Lily huffed, crossing her arms.
“Well I know that Lily, but why them?” He felt like a pouting child, but he didn’t really care. He wanted to hang out with Lily tonight and he wasn’t too keen with the idea of being ditched for Potter and his gang.
“I’m going to hang out with Mary, Severus, it’s not like I’m gonna be on Potters arm all night, and anyways you could come along you know?”
Severus huffed out a laugh, “yeah right like I want to hang out with a bunch of imbeciles all night, count me out. I just didn’t think you’d want to hang out with a bunch of imbeciles either.”
“Okay Sev, you know what, fuck you honestly. You do this all the time. I am allowed to have other people in my life okay? Mary is my friend and i’m going to hang out with HER, not James fucking Potter. Get over yourself.”
“I never said you couldn’t have other friends, Lils, I just don’t like that you’ve been hanging around them, they’re assholes.” Severus literally grumbled, looking down at his shoes.
“For the last time I'm going out with-” Lily turned positively red when Severus cut her off, “Mary right I know, but I bet you’ll be leaving with Potter.”
“Get out,” Lily spat, pointing at her bedroom door. Severus tried to backtrack, “Lily I didn’t mean that I’m just-”
“I don’t want to hear it right now Sev, just go,” She shook her head, pointing harder at the door. Taking the hint, Severus got up and walked out with his head down. Cursing to himself the whole way home.
-
“He really said that?” Mary asked in shock, “yes! God Mary I love him to death but sometimes I just want to strangle him.”
Mary laughed, nodding, “right, but you know you guys will just kiss and make up tomorrow,” Lily glared at her, before sighing.
“Yeah you’re right, we can’t stay mad for too long. I just wish him and Potter would get over this whole thing, I want nothing to do with that prick and Severus needs to get that.”
“Well I think you’re about to see just how bad it can get,” Mary pointed to where Severus was awkwardly scanning, nervous eyes searching for Lily in the crowded room.
He was wearing clothes Lily had gotten him, his hands stuffed in his pockets, his black hair pulled up in a messy bun on top of his head.
“Lily there you are, can we uhm, can we talk? Please?” He asked in a shaky voice. “Snivvy, what’re you doing here?” Sirius Black slurred on the sidelines.
Severus looked over with a glare, then looked back at Lily with pleading eyes, “I just need a minute then I’ll go,” Lily nodded, and started to walk out before she was pulled back.
“Don’t go anywhere with him Lils,” James said, the tone in his voice giving away just how much he’d drank, “Potter you’re drunk get off of me,” Lily said trying to yank her arm away.
When James didn’t release her arm Severus took a step forward, but before it matter Lily ended up punching him square in the jaw. Once her arm was released due to James grabbing his jaw to groan at the pain, she grabbed Severus by the hand and stalked towards the door.
Severus was dragging behind her, seemingly in a daze, his Lily just punched James Potter. He was pretty sure this was now his new favorite day ever.
He stopped, “Lily I,” but he got cut off before he could finish speaking, “not here, we’re going to my house let’s go. You’re taking me home.”
Severus didn’t say another word, opening his passenger door for her to get in.
-
“I can’t believe you punched him,” Severus said with a small chuckle, holding a frozen bag of peas on Lily’s hand.
Lily laughed a bit too, “I know! I was just so pissed off. Anyways what did you want to say at the party?”
Severus sighed, sitting completely on the floor in front of where Lily was on the bed to hold the peas steady.
“I’m sorry, I should not have said what I did. I didn’t mean it and I hate fighting with you. I just really don’t like them,” Severus sighed, he wasn’t big on apologies unless it was for Lily.
“I know Sev, but you just have to trust me okay? I want nothing to do with them myself,” Lily said, running her good hand through Severus’ hair.
He looked up and smiled a bit, “I know that, I mean why else would you punch the poor bloke,” he teased, earning another small chuckle from Lily.
She leaned down and connected their lips gently, “besides, I love you too much for that.”
“I love you too Lils.”
