false hope Pandora x Lily
Lily had known she was in love with Pandora since the moment she first met her their first year at Hogwarts. Lily had been on the Hogwarts express with Snape when she first met the girl. Her blond hair had been down past her shoulders and her eyes seemed to sparkle with excitement.
“Hello Lily Snape I’m looking for Regulus have you seen him?” Her voice was soft and sounded almost ethereal.
Lily hadn’t given this strang girl her name but couldn’t help but to be absolutely captivated by her. Snape had taken notice of this and sneered at Pandora giving her a dirty look.
“We don’t know who that is now leave us alone you creep” Snape said crossing his arms.
Lily lightly punched Snape in the arm giving him a stern look.
“Don’t be mean and sorry no we haven’t seen him” Lily replied giving the girl an apologetic smile.
“Oh that’s ok I’ll see you again Lily” the girl then left and Lily cursed herself for not getting Pandora’s name that day.
It hadn’t matter since once they arrived at Hogwarts Lily learned that her name was Pandora and she was a part of a pureblood family. Snape had warned Lily to stay away from her but Lily didn’t listen.
It had taken Lily two weeks to get the courage to talk to Pandora. Lily had found her in the library reading a book about dreams and what they could mean. Pandora had looked up from her book the second Lily got close giving the red head a small smile.
“Hello Lily, glad to see you again” she had said, putting down her book and patting the chair next to her.
Lily sat down next to her feeling a bit nervous. She had no idea how to even talk to this girl.
“How do you know my name I never told you?’’ Lily blurted out after a minute of silence between the two.
Pandora had laughed and smiled before speaking. “Sorry I’m a seer so I can see the future. I've had dreams about meeting you” the blond explained.
This probably should have freaked Lily out but it only made Lily more intrigued.
“Really? That’s really cool!” Lily said excitedly.
Pandora had given Lily an odd look before looking down at her book.
At the time it striked Lily as odd but knowing what she knew now she understood why Pandora had given her that look.
The two girls spend any time they could together after that. Eventually they started dating and Lily couldn’t have been happier. Lily quickly learned that asking Pandora about the future was something she shouldn’t do. Whatever Pandora had seen she didn’t like sharing it. Lily of course respected her girlfriends wishes and never asked.
That didn’t stop her from being curious. Lily wanted to know the future held for the two of them. Would they get married? Have kids? Live a long happy life together? Lily hoped she would get to live her entire life loving Pandora.
One night during sixth year Pandora finally told Lily about their future together. They were laying in the grass looking up at the stars when Pandora spoke.
“I know you have been wondering what our future is like” She started voice soft and sad.
“You don’t have to tell me Panda” Lily immediately cut in not wanting to make her girlfriend uncomfortable.
Pandora shook her head giving Lily a sad smile.
“No it’s ok I want to really” Pandora reassured her.
Lily nodded and let her speak.
“You and I are going to have children very kind children who will grow up to be very close. You will be happy and will die loving” Pandora spoke smiling up at the stars.
Lily smiled looking up at the stars with her.
In that moment Lily really didn’t understand what Pandora had been telling her.
Lily had thought Pandora was telling Lily a future where the two of them grew old together and had children. Lily had believed that was her future.
Until it wasn’t.
Lily was confused when Pandora had broken up with her. Lily was even more confused when she married someone else. Lily was still confused when she married James. Lily didn’t understand what future Pandora had been talking about until she was holding her baby in her arms listening to her husband fall dead onto the floor.
Pandora knew Lily’s future did not include her in it. Pandora knew Lily was going to die saving her baby.
Pandora had known the entire time and let Lily believe she would have time.
Lily was grateful for that.
