The Great Hall Gossip
James pov
As James left the bathroom room, Remus was already up "Morning Moony" Remus grunted as he stood up from bed and walked into the bathroom "Glad to see some things haven't changed" James meant that truly, Peter the deep sleeper he was Sirius drew a smiley face on Peter's left cheek "pads, he's going to hex your balls, when he wakes up" Sirius grins "that's if he can catch me".
Sirius walks to the Great Hall rubbing his cheek
"Told you so" James teased " little mutt deserved it" Peter mutters still a little salty and as they walk into the mostly empty hall and before they sat "James swich with me" Remus blurts out James noticed how Sirius eyes widen "Moony I'm going to have to wall all the way around this bloody table" James complaints "just hop over they haven't served breakfast yet" James groan but does as told.
After a while the Great Hall begin to fill up and James sees Remus perk up, James looked around but doesn't know who he is trying to look for but noticed that he's looking at the Slytherin table!?,
James looks back at Remus does Remus like someone from Slytherin, shit Sirius is going to throw a fit. " Remus can you help me with something after breakfast?" James’s blurts out of nowhere "Oh I was planning on going to the library" James grins "I'll go with you it's important i tell you this" Sirius and Peter look confused Remus just nods "okay".
Remus pov
Remus has a bad feeling about this Remus and James were close of course James was one of his best friends but when James and Remus talking alone it never ended good for some reason, Remus train of thought was cut off when he sees Mary running towards them. "Sirius! " she yells as she practically jumps on him "mary, calm down, what's going on?" AMary fans the daily prophet in his face "your brother was disowned!" Everyone around them gasp including Sirius, "what!?" He yells as Sirius snatches, the newspaper out of Mary's hand. "16 YEAR OLD REGULUS BLACK, HEIR TO THE NOBLE AND MOST ANCIENT HOUSE OF BLACK DISOWNED, WHERE IS HE NOW?"
Lily Evans gasps, she looks towards the Slytherin table and she stands up and everyone turns to see, everyone sees her walking up to regulus black himself, she tells him something that the people who are Slytherins will only hear, Regulus stands up grabs his things and walks out of the Great Hall with Lily, and the hall the silent for a four minutes that you could hear a pin drop until, "since when are baby black and red friends?" Marlene says the with a scowl on her face obviously. Feeling betrayed for not knowing of this said friendship "Lily and Black are friends!?" James says but much more dramatic "you don't think?, Are Lily and Regulus dating!?" James continued looking terrified, Marlene who is right next to him, slaps the back of his head, "No you idiot, they are just friends" James looks at Marlene offended "how in merlin's name would you know you didn't even know they were friends" and the bickering began as they threw insults left and right.
Remus sighs as he stood up from the table and began to walk out of the Great Hall, then it was as if James suddenly remembered about the talk he wanted to have with Remus "Moony, Wait!" James says running to catch up, Remus did not wait he headed straight to the library but sooner than later James caught up "Moony you walk like a old man" James complaints as Remus finds a empty table in the library "mhm" Remus grunted as he pulls out a chair and sat down "what did you want to talk about" Remus asked already irritated a little.
"Umm" James hesitated for a little while. "James?" Remiss best narrowing his eyes " i know this is gonna sound stupid, but I am obligated to know as your best friend. And I haven't seen you with anyone since fifth year, when you dated that bloke for like 2 months and then you guys broke up. I wanted to know if you've had someone in mind?"
" You were right" Remus said and James face light up a little " that was stupid" and james deflated like a balloon " you're a arse you know that" Remus rolls his eyes so hard that it could have gotten stuck like that "well are you moony?" James asked again Remus sighs "yes" James jumps out of his chair "who!" He yelled but was told to shut up or get out by Madam Pince "who?" James said again but this time he had lower his voice "No" Remus blurts out making James look offended "what, what do you mean no?"
"No, If I tell you then you'll tell Sirius and Peter and I don't want any one to know" Remus explains or trys "are you calling me a bad secret keeper, I'm the best secret keeper thank you very much, I know things that you don't even know, which I'm not going to tell you because that would ruined my title of best secret keeper." Remus raised an eyebrow "sure, keep telling yourself that, i'm still not telling you though" one thing about James, Sirius and Peter is that they are all animagi illegally, of course.
But unfortunately for him. James had this thing that muggles would call puppy dog eyes, Sirius liked to call them doe eyes becausehe'sa stag, but every time James didn't get his way he would widen his eyes and start tearing up just enough that it made you feel guilty "james, we've talked about this, that's called manipulation." James could go on for hours like this, Sirius and Peter never lasted long, Remus would only give in because at some point in all this manipulation sometimes James would actually start crying "fine, but if I find out that you told Sirius and Peter I'm coming for your arse" James wipes his eyes and grins "it's Regulus Black"
James pov
"It’s Regulus Black" and right there, right in that moment, james knew that the moment Sirius found out about this... He was so screwed. "What?" James says completely dumbfounded. "I fancy Regulus black" Remus repeated shit, shit "how long?" Fuck this was not what I had in mind "since second year"
Six fucking year "but you dated someone in fifth year" Sirius can never know, James is willing to take this to the grave " reason why we broke up because of my feelings for him." Merlin save me " six years and you still haven't told him?" James doesn't know why he's asking because he doesn't really care because all he really cares about is. How is he going to tell his best friend that person? He fancies so much, fancies his brother " we don't have any classes together and he's in sixth year" and it was as if merlin himself heard Remus "wait reg you're taking seventh years classes, is that even allowed?" Because on the other side of this shelf, lily evans and regulus black himself are talking about how Regulus skipped a whole year? And is graduating with the seventh years " my uncle talked to professor dumbledore and he agreed, of course, headmaster talked to the rest of the professors and they also agreed saying I have very much potential and I'll have bit of a challenge with these classes and how it will be good for me" Remus eyes widen and is trying to hold back a grin. "Do we have any classes together?" Lily asked and James hears a rustle of paper being handed around "Reg!, we have Transfiguration together alone with Potions, Charms
And Defence Against the Dark Arts!"
James could hear Remus gasp, James let his train of thoughts roll when a tiny light bolt in his head lit up if James were to encourage treatments to tell Regulus, how he feels, Regulus would most likely reject them and then Remus will be trying to get rid of those feelings. That's when Sirius could slip in and Remus and Sirius could be together, James knew that it was a little mean but it's most likely that regulus feelings are not requited "Moony, now that we know that it's a possibility that you have classes with Regulus .Why don't you try talking to him?" That snaps Remus out of his own train of thoughts "why?" James signed here goes nothing "so you could tell him how you feel" Remus snorts "Right like regulus would fancy me back" James gets up from his seat "you'll never know if you don’t try"
And walks to exit the library, James walks out the library trying to feel confident in hoping that this doesn't backfire on him again.
