Year 2 or "they can't get dumber right? I was wrong"
The first shopping trip with the Weasley family was quite an experience. Mrs. Weasley insisted that Harry and Corvus join the other Weasleys preparing for school in August, along with Bill, who needed supplies for his upcoming departure to Romania in a week. Corvus found himself riding on Charlie's shoulders, not entirely willingly, while Fred and George relentlessly bugged him with prank ideas. Frustrated, Charlie lifted the 12-year-old higher to silence the commotion, but Corvus didn’t seem to mind too much; he was busy braiding Charlie's hair.
Charlie, Corvus, Harry, Ron, Fred, George, and Ginny were all in Flourish and Blotts book store with Mrs. Weasley, it was alright minus Mrs. Weasley, Ginny, and every other girl in the shop fawning over Gilderoy Lockhart, which could be described as more than a little annoying.
The blue-haired Boy Harry befriended the year before, Adrian Brown, also happened to be in the shop. He even stood up for Harry when Lockheart tried grabbing him for a photo. Corvus quietly hexed Lockheart's shoes before he followed his brother and the American. Draco appeared shortly after, with his father closely behind him. Corvus zoned out for a moment, and by the time he zoned back in, Mr Weasley and Mr Malfoy were fighting, and Corvus was dodging a random being flung at his head.
Corvus ended up being late for the passage with Ron, Adrian, and his brother. Ron and Harry offered to 'find a different way'
"Well, we could take a different route, maybe get my dad's car, we could catch the train with it, Adrian, Corvus, you two coming?" Ron asked, likely expecting a 'yes', "No, I think I'll write a letter to Dumbledore or something"
"Right... Corvus, how about you?" Harry asked his brother. "There's no chance I'm going along with one of your plans, I still have a will to live. You have fun. I'm staying with the blueberry."
Harry and Ron ran off soon after that, Adrian wrote and sent his letter after Corvus hailed down an owl by doing a high-pitched whistle at it, Professor Snape showed up only 20 minutes later, Snape Apparated both Adrian and Corvus to a port key, Adrian almost vomited, Corvus just kinda almost fainted, which was one of the more uncommon side effects of apparition, Snape retrieved the port key, and they arrived at Hogwarts nearly two full hours early.
It took only 20 minutes for Adrian to ask about the testosterone potion, Snape told him it existed, and they worked something out. At the same time, Corvus just stared off at a wall in boredom, Snape told both of them to follow him to the potions classroom.
It only clicked with Corvus what any of what was said actually meant after Adrian had successfully made the potion, in which he mumbled "Huh? would not have guessed, he just looks like any other boy if you ignore the blue hair anyway." Snape quietly hit him on the back of the head for the comment, Corvus turned around and quickly forgot the filter between mind and mouth as he said "Ow, I didn't mean anything by it, you grease mop! Omg, how did my mother deal with you willingly?"
Corvus realized what he had just said and noticed Adrian had already left. So he ran all the way to the Slytherin common rooms. He had overheard Snape telling Adrian the password, and it was the closest one. Corvus ended up just rearranging things slightly to mess with people for about 10 minutes before leaving to go to the feast.
During breakfast the next day, Corvus was sitting at the Ravenclaw table and got a nice view of Adrian chewing Harry and Ron out for stealing a flying car to get to Hogwarts, it lasted almost a full 10 minutes, and likely would have been long if classes hadn't been starting.
All second years had DADA as their second class on Mondays, and unfortunately, it was Monday, and they all had to deal with Gilderoy Lockheart. It only took 5 minutes for everything to be ruined, Lockheart released the Cornish pixies into the classroom after someone laughed, Adrian ran out first, and Corvus petrified some pixies before he ran out too.
Snape caught them out of class, so Adrian explained, and asked that they both get to stay with Snape for the rest of the class period, he just barely agreed, Adrian passed out within about 20 minutes, Corvus just quietly sat in the corner of the room, Snape threw his coat over Adrian, then he just kept looking at Corvus.
Then Corvus got tired of the staring, "What? Did you get an eye problem? What the hell are you looking at?" It wasn't even in an angry tone, it sounded like an actual question, he expected an answer from Snape, who was looking at him like a disapproving Father, "Do you want to try and rephrase that with more respect or would you rather I just take points now?"
"Take the points, take all of 'em, I do not care, you still haven't answered why you keep looking at me like that, I'm not a mind reader, Professor Snape, just say it." Snape froze for a moment before he spoke, "You are just like her, Your mother, you act just like her, and you have her exact face, just with more melanin and unfortunately your father's eyes, But I don't know if you choose that face or not, so I know it would be odd it I mentioned it to you."
"It's my face, the face you saw on me in the first week of first year was a survival thing, my aunt wasn't the nicest, so I changed my face to something else so she'd hate us less, it only kinda worked." Snape nodded and was about to say something before Corvus interrupted him.
"You seem to know what it's like not to be loved by your blood family. Did my mother have that issue as well? I know you two were in the same year, did you know her well?" Corvus knew Snape knew her better than most, but He wanted Snape to be the one to talk about his life, Corvus knew not to just offer up information without a trade, and Snape had nothing to trade, not yet.
Snape only offered the fact that he was friends with Lily, and that her mother was kind, but her father thought of her as a freak, same as her sister, Snape only barely mentioned that his father thought much the same of him, Corvus could assume it was more than simple dislike considering Snape originally called Him Tobias before correcting himself to 'my father'. Corvus had already left by the time Adrian woke up in the classroom.
Breakfast on Tuesday, Corvus was at his table, quietly eating toast, Hermione and Ron were getting up, and he heard them say something about Harry going to Quidditch practice, Adrian got up to go see, and grabbed Corvus as he walked by, Corvus grabbed him wand off the table and followed the Slytherin out to the pitch, Harry was flying around while Corvus just watched at a safe distance, Adrian got annoyed at collin taking photo's, Corvus just told him to 'leave the kid alone', Collin ran off before Adrian could even say anything.
Draco, along with the rest of the Slytherin team, the altercation didn't go well, Ron ended up barfing slugs, Harry and Hermione left with him for Hagrid's, Adrian stayed to learn what 'mud blood meant and threatened the Quidditch team, the only one seemingly unaffected by the threat was Marcus flint, "You reink a little threat from an American muggle born is gonna scare me straight." Corvus noticed Adrian was about to say something, so he spoke first.
"Red hair." Marcus looked confused, "what are you...?" Corvus continued, "Rule follower." Marcus looked more panicky, "Okay, got it, you know stuff, you can shut it now, I won't say shit anymore!" Marcus actually started speed walking away, and the rest of the team soon followed. Adrian attempted to ask what that was about, but all Corvus said was "Blackmail" and left it at that.
Corvus tried walking off before Snape and McGonagall got to giving detentions, He failed, Snape spoke with him and Adrian on what happened. Adrian explained everything, and while Corvus stared silently, Snape didn't end up giving out any detentions, which Adrian thanked him for, and Corvus simply echoed the thanks.
During a class change, Harry, Ron, and Hermione stopped Corvus and Adrian in the hall after Adrian greeted them, and asked Adrian if he wanted to come to Sir Nick's deathday party, he agreed, "Cool, yeah, Corvus, you're coming too." Harry said as if it had already been decided, "Do I have a choice?" "No, not even a little." "Great, guess I'll go then, I didn't have any other plans for Halloween."
Corvus enjoyed the party as much as he could, he spoke briefly with a ghost named Mira who died sometime around the 1600's, the conversation ended when Adrian ended up yelling at Sir Patrick for being disrespectful to Sir Nick.
Corvus was watching the Slytherin Vs Griffindor quidditch game, the Bludger broke Harry's arm mid-way through, and lock heart made a disappearing act of Harry and Adrian's arms, Corvus waited till after both boys were out of earshot before screaming at lLockheartwith so many profanities that a few spirits of sailors were blushing up the extreme vocabulary.
Corvus then stormed off to the hospital when before any points could be deducted, He walked in to see Harry and Adrian talking with the house elf that's called itself Dobby, the same elf that had appeared in the Dursley's house during the summer, Corvus would have spoken to the creature if not for the fact that Adrian and Harry seemed to appreciate its company enough to not warrant intervening.
Corvus simply watched as his brother spoke with the elf along with Adrian, they continued speaking of how Dobby was the one to mess with the Bludger and to close the platform before any of them could get through it, Adrian seemed to appreciate the fact that that had been done, something about Snape or something, Corvus couldn't quite hear it.
Madam Pomfry rolled in a gurney with someone on it, Corvus didn't quite recognize them, Harry and Adrian seemed to, though, Adrian seemed the most affected by it.
Corvus saw the dueling club sign posted in the hall just after breakfast, the only reason he awentwas because he correctly assumed Harry would try it. It was 'led' by Lockheart, but Snape was there and was carrying the whole class.
Snape laid Lockhart out and then had everyone go off into pairs, after a few minutes, he had them all separate and had Draco and Harry be a demonstrating pair, Adrian laughed about it from two rows over from Corvus. Draco conjured a snake, which Harry talked to, telling it to back off, Adrian seemed thrilled to have another Parselmouth in school, and the rest of the club was mostly horrified, even after Adrian took the snake out of the room.
It was almost a full week of Corvus and Nevile being the only ones to hang around Adrian; everyone else seemed scared. Nevile came up with the brilliant idea that spells work in Parseltongue. The short answer: they do. Spells and magic don't seem to care about words all that much.
Adrian later told Corvus that Harry almost killed himself again, only mentioning that they tried to make a potion to find out more about the 'Slytherin heir' by asking Draco while in disguise. Both Adrian and Corvus agreed that the idea was incredibly stupid considering either of them could have asked just as easily. Adrian ended up asking about it for the trio, and then immediately the following day gloated about how he was right, which was just expected at that point.
Corvus had been just keeping to his friends and trying to keep out of trouble, which meant somewhat avoiding his brother who was weirdly busy all of a sudden, he kept to himself as much as possible, but he got a bad grade in muggle studies and had a mini panic attack over it in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom his panicking slipped into Parseltongue and then there was a hole in the ground.
Myrtle was off near the showers of the bathroom Corvus tested how far down it was with a bit of tile on the ground, he realized how far the fall was then he got a stupid idea, one that likely would have made his father laugh, he said the Parseltongue word for stairs, and stone steps jutted out off the walls of the drop into a spiral staircase, he went down the steps and into a large snake-themed room, "secret chamber,... that's opened by Parseltongue? this is probably that 'chamber of secrets' that was written about in chicken blood... I'ma go before I end up dealing with Harry-level stupidity." he walked towards the stairs, and started running when he heard something coming towards him.
he was wheezing by the time he got back up to the bathroom, "Stupid brother and his stupid athleticism, damn I need to start working out If I'm gonna look in the creepy hidden rooms of this f*cking castle." Corvus only thought on it for a moment before continuing with, "Or I could just not look into the creepy crap?... ha yeah and while I'm at it I could also just stop breathing... ugh I'm gonna have to start running." he said as he left.
Corvus had spent about a week doing fine, he was detention-free, and he hadn't even gotten any points lost, then he walked into a classroom just as Adrian was threatening to trade his ears for eyes, with Harry and Ron both staring in abject horror, then myrtle got mentioned and he started connecting things, which meant hed likely have to join whatever stupid thing they where all about to do.
Adrian marched Lockheart all the way to Myrtle's bathroom with the three other boys following behind him, the blue-haired boy asked Myrtle some questions while Corvus held Lockheart by the back of the neck as to make sure he didn't run. It took him about a minute and a half for Adrian to figure out the way to the chamber was Parseltongue, then as soon as he figured out how far down the drop was he made Lockheart go first, Corvus snorted when Adrian called him expendable.
Corvus watched as Adrian charmed his shoes and jumped, he waited a moment before transfiguring a big chunk of tile into rope and repelled down, the only reason he didn't use the stairs was the fact that doing so seemed to wake up the creature in the chamber and he wasn't about to get harry killed just for simpleness.
Not long after the chamber caved in thanks to Lockheart using Ron's backfiring wand, Corvus ended up on the side with Adrian and Harry, they got moving soon after, and Corvus ended up listening to Harry's conversation with Adrian.
Corvus cringed and moved farther from them when the American yelled on the fact Harry and Corvus were stuck with their aunt and uncle, and the treatment, plus the fact of how it was Dumbledor's fault, there was just a lot of yelling, Corvus mostly tuned out the rest of it.
Corvus only got most of the way to Ginny, but Tom got ahold of Harry's wand and stupified him before Adrian got it back, he only came to around the time Harry had somehow gotten onto the face statue, and Adrian was yelling at Tom.
a phoenix showed up and blinded the basilisk, Adrian was stabbing the diary while Corvus got the giant snake to calm down, then Adrian came to help with the snake that was apparently called Jade, he got her to calm down and fixed her eyes while Corvus was making sure Harry was okay.
Adrian shrunk the basilisk down to the size of a baby corn snake before the weird phoenix helped them get out of the chamber, Lockheart kept spouting nonsense the entire way up, Ron mostly just held on to Ginny.
once topside again, Adrian and Harry handled the explanation to all the adults, while everyone else was in the hospital wing, minis Corvus who was watching everything, and was the one to tell Lucius Malfoy he would claim as a witness to whatever Adrian said if he decided to kill him, though he would have likely only done it since Harry was the threatened party if it were anyone else hed had likely ignored them.
he did hug Hermione once she was awake since she woke up just as he was switching out the flowers on the bedside table, she had mistaken him for Harry, which he assumed when she grabbed him into a hug, he was fine with it, he knew they weren't friends like how she was with harry, she did like the flowers he got her though (Peony 'Hermione' (Paeonia lactiflora) if you were curious), she thought it was funny he got her flowers that shared her name.
