Teen Wolf Prompt #1 - The Selena Delgado AU
Selena Delgado is Scott’s older cousin. She is six years older than Scott and Stiles both.
The Band
I like the idea of Selena creating a garage band with the boys, which keeps them mostly out of mischief.

Background Information
Selena Delgado is Melissa’s niece (through her brother).
Selena’s parents died in the Robbery-Homicide, so custody was awarded to Melissa & Rafel.
Selena was 8-yo when this happened, which makes Scott 2-yo. Selena honest to god hates her Uncle Rafe but behaves well because she adores Melissa.
Selena is a born werewolf like her father Julián. The gift skipped Melissa, so she knows but doesn’t have it, and never told Rafel. When they get custody of Selena, Melissa immediately contacts Talia as the local Pack Alpha.
Through this, Selena becomes fast friends with Derek, who is only slightly older than her. They are practically attached a the hip.
Laura likes doting on Selena and sees her like a younger sister. In turn, Selena dotes on baby Cora, who is Scott’s age.
Talia will never know this, but Selena has met and looks after Jax and Malia, Peter’s twins, though she is the only one who knows they exist because of Talia.
When Selena is 10-yo, Talia formally invites her into the Hale Pack. Derek is over the moon.
- Talia and Melissa believe that Derek and Selena may be True Mates, but resolve to let them work out their puppy love without interference.
- They figure it out when they are 15-yo.
When Rafael finally leaves after the accident, Melissa allows Selena to take Scott’s pain away. Since Rafel is gone now, the two of them tell Scott about the Supernatural world, and he thinks it’s super cool, like all little kids do.
- Scott does ask Selena to bite him, but she refuses, at least mostly because she’s a Beta.
- She does say, however: “Tell you what, pup. If you still want the bite when you’re 15, we’ll talk to Talia about turning you.”
On that note, Selena has figure out the Full Shift - like Talia did - and taught it to Derek and Laura both.
The Hale Fire
When Selena and Derek are almost 17-yo — making Laura 18-ish and Cora 11 — the Hale Fire happens. It is devastating, but luckily for them none of the pups were in the House when it burnt.
The only survivor inside the house is Peter, who is half-crushed by the remains of the structure and has burn scars on 40% of this exposed body.
Melissa helps Laura admit Peter into a Long-Term Care Unit a the hospital, and brings the Hale Pups into her home with Selena and Scott. For now, this is settled by having roommates:
- Derek and Scott in Room 1
- Selena, Laura, and Cora in Room 2
Since Laura is only 18, Melisa helps her with the insurance and guardianship paperwork, etc. Laura uses the insurance money to completely rebuild the House House for the Pack.
She doesn’t want to be a burden on Melissa, so she gets a job immediately to help her pay the bills and keep food on the table. A few months later, Derek and Selena move into an apartment with Laura. Cora continues to live with Scott and Melissa.
After the year ends and summer begins, Melissa allows Selena to go to New York with the Hales to visit family. The New York Hales teach Laura how to be a good Alpha and run the Pack.
Every Sunday, the Hale-McCall’s have dinner at Melissa’s.
After the Fire
When Scott, Stiles, and Cora turn 12-yo, Laura and Selena sit all three of them down together and give them The Talk. This will include Sex, Puberty, and things related to both through the Supernatural.
Derek stands in the background recording this for Melissa, trying desperately not to laugh a the horror on their little faces.
They use full anatomical diagrams, teach them a bit of basic anatomy, and give them safe sex tips.
- “Whoever you love is okay, so long as everyone consents to what you do.”
Q&A Portion! Stiles is the one who asks: “Is it different for and/or with werewolves.” Selene rolls her eyes but answers, Laura tries not to choke on her laughter, Derek is rolling on the ground. Cora and Scott scrunch their noses.
When Scott is 15-yo, Laura bites him at his request. Scott is then Laura's first bitten Beta, even though both Derek and Cora are also Betas. Selena teaches Cora and Scott the Full Shift.
Peter is still in the hospital, even all these years later. Selena has tracked down Malia and Jax, who were separated in the foster system. She keeps an eye on them and tells Laura.
- In a weird quirk of DNA, Malia is a Shifter but Jax is not.
Derek gets a teaching license and begins teaching History at BHHS, while Selena pursues a Masters of Education and becomes a substitute teacher.
Laura would prefer to be a Full-Time Pack Alpha, but they don’t really have a way to do that right now, let alone the numbers, so she goes through the Academy and becomes a Deputy at the BH Sheriff’s Department.
Other Headcanons with this AU
After Claudia dies, Stiles is so distraught that the Pack literally puppy-piles with him to calm him down.
Laura lives. Scott is already a bitten Beta, so Stiles is the one bitten in the woods that night — he is a Spark and a Beta.
Selena is the first person to realize that Scott and Stiles are True Mate potential, and begins organizing bets immediately with the rest of the Pack.
In Season 3, Scott still becomes a True Alpha but hates being in charge of anything. He absolutely does not want to be Alpha, so Laura remains in charge, but Scott has to pick-up slack as Right Hand.
In s05 e10, Theo Rakin still tricks Liam into killing Scott for the Alpha Spark, somehow. Derek is the first person to find him, and actually roars him back to life.
As an aside, Theo doesn’t understand why killing Scott wouldn’t automatically give him the Alpha Spark and control of the Hale Pack. He doesn’t get that while Scott is a True Alpha, Laura holds the Hale Spark and all its bonds.
All he really does is piss off a bunch of born werewolves who have been doing this shit way longer than he has. Peter is pissed too, and kills Theo on principle for harming the Pack.
