★ | I can honestly say I don’t know if Fraternization Regulations exist in the CM universe, but I usually assume they do, and as a result like to read fanfics where they don’t exist. 

❄ | I can easily imagine Spencer walking into Hotch’s office one day, closing the door behind him, and sitting in front of the desk waiting to be acknowledged. 

• When he is, he starts with - “Can I talk to my friend Aaron without Hotch reporting anything?”
• So Aaron asks what he needs to talk about, and Reid says - “I think I’ve fallen in love with someone on the team. I’ve never approached them about my feelings, but I don’t know if I should put myself out there or try to get over them.”
• Aaron thinks about it for a moment. “Emily?”
• Spencer confirms, so they discuss the likelihood of her returning his feelings, what is and isn’t allowed regarding fraternization, etc and so forth

★ | Emily, Spencer, Derek, and Elle act like siblings and nothing will change my mind.

• Emily Prentiss & Spencer Reid
  • Unless on the job, they greet each other with a kiss on the cheek
  • Em & Pen
  • They are super defensive of each other, but turn around and tease each other mercilessly
  • They have a habit of arguing in foreign languages, particularly Arabis, Russian & French.
  • Some books they read at the same time, like a Book Club, which includes works by Vonnegut.
  • Emily is one of the few people Spencer will actually accept or initiate contact with. He’s really tactile with her, escorting her on his arm, holding her hand, hugging her, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
    • (Derek is convinced they’re dating. The others know they aren’t, but mess with Derek anyway.)
• Elle Greenaway & Spencer Reid
  • In an effort to get to know each other, Spencer asks Elle if she’d be willing to teach him Spanish. He can read it fluently, but his speaking is less than desirable. She agrees.
  • She reminds him of an older sister, and she treats him like her baby brother.
  • They have most of their conversations in Spanish unless they are actively working a case and brainstorming with the team, though occasionally they’ll slip up and excitedly build off each other in Spanish, speaking rapidly, and the others get confused. Even Gideon, since he only understands about half the conversation at best.
  • Maybe Spencer meets Luke early, while he’s still serving the Rangers, and they exchange letter entirely in Spanish until he’s discharged. 

• Jennifer Jareau & Spencer Reid
  • Ultimate Sibling Duo
  • They have a tendency to cuddle each other on the jet or if they have to share a hotel room on a case
  • JJ taught Spencer everything he needed to know about being a parent, and he is JJ and Will’s go-to babysitter when they are in town

❄ | Ambassador & Mr. Prentiss foster-to-adopt Spencer when he is 11 years old.

• Emily and Spencer are siblings, though he prefers to call her parents Aunt and Uncle.
• Emily and Spencer have matching lockets:
  • Spencer’s Locket: (L) Diana, Elizabeth, Emily & Mr. Prentiss. (R) William’s Wife & Daughters
  • Emily’s Locket: (L) Her parents, Spence & herself. (R) Declan
• Spencer does profiles and threat assessments for Interpol while Emily works there, similar to what Gideon was doing for the CIA (s01/02). Because of his clearance level, he knows about Clyde & the JTF Taskforce and Emily’s undercover op as Lauren Reynolds.
• Like Emily, Spencer speaks French, Italian, Spanish, and Russian. While Emily also speaks Arabic, Spencer chose to learn Korean.
• When the Ambassador puts Spencer in dance lessons, Emily joins him so that he would have a dance partner he’s already comfortable with.
  • They Waltz together, but can also perform Jive and Swing styles.
  • Spencer prefers to leave the Latin influences to share with his romantic partners. The only exception he made to this was with Elle, when they went to Dance Bars on Latin night when they had free Saturdays.
