Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Visitors
31st October, 2022
Investing all the strength that I had in my body, I forcefully shut my trunk. I wiped away a sweat from my forehead.
This is stupid! This whole Magical Law system is obnoxious! The fact that I'm not able to use magic out of school is just too frustrating for me.
Just imagine how easier the daily tasks would've been! But the dickheaded people have made useless laws.
Atleast, I'm going back to Hogwarts tomorrow. I'll be able to using magic for good....for my own good soon. I couldn't help but feel pleasured at the very thought of it.
Hmm... Did I forget something?
"Y/n." A grave voice called from the other side of the locked door. Oh shit! I ran to answer the door which revealed my mother standing right infront of me, boring her eyes right into mine.
"M-mother-"
"Get dressed. There are guests." She eyed me once and turned around to leave. "Guests?" I called out. Mother stopped her steps.
"Yes. Wear something..... wearable." She climbed down the stairs.
Who the fuck decided to visit us just on the eve of my leave for Hogwarts?! I'm clearly not in the mood to entertain anyone at a family dinner.
But if mother wants it, I have no choice.
~•~
By the time I reach the foot of the stairs, I spot three people already seated at the dinner table. Shit! Don't tell me I'm late-
Fixing my hair once, I hurried to the dining table. "Oh! Y/n, dear!" A woman with pale skin, a pleasant smile and motherly voice welcomed me.
The Jeons?
That is Mrs. Jeon. Wait... Does that mean? "How are you? Y/n?" Mr. Jeon nodded at me. Before I could answer anyone, my mother spoke up, "Why were you late, dear?" Gosh, that creepy smile of my mother sent me chills.
"I..." I couldn't really think of any explanations. "I'm sorry." I hurried to an empty seat that was at the table.
The table was occupied by my mother, my father, Mr. and Mrs. Jeon and their son. Jeon Jungkook.
Jungkook is a 7th year Slytherin senior at Hogwarts. He's also the son of a family friend of ours. He's the heir of the Jeons.
Jungkook has brownish black hair, along with big brown doe eyes that one cannot resist. His front teeth makes him resemble a bunny.
He looked down. He kept staring at his lap as if he was just a corpse sitting there. He had blanked out.
"Are you done packing for tomorrow, Y/n?" Mrs. Jeon pleasantly said. "Yes." I kept my answer short.
"Look at you all grown up! I remember you as a little kid running around. Now, you're a 6th year student!" Mrs. Jeon exclaimed. Yeah, and what about it? I wanted to say.
But I didn't.
My mother would do stuff you can't even imagine.
"Yeah..." I replied. "Don't you remember, dear? How she would come running into my arms everytime she saw me when she was a kid?" Mrs. Jeon urged her husband to agree. Who just flashed a very brief smile.
This woman is annoying.
"I think we should stop beating around the bush." My mother sipped from the goblet of red wine that she held.
"Yes. Y/n, we have something extremely crucial to discuss with you." My dad finally spoke for the first time this evening.
"And it is?" I'm having an unpleasant suspicion.
"Your marriage, young lady." My mother had sarcasm dripping from her words. "Marriage?" My suspicion was right. I'll be of age soon. Surely, she wants to send me off as soon as possible.
"Yes Y/n, us," Mrs. Jeon gestured to her husband, "and your parents have been discussing it for a while and we've come to the decision that you and Jungkook will be getting married."
Oh....
"But I'm still at Hogwarts!" I took a quick glance at Jungkook who hadn't moved at all since I've seen him. Is he... really dead?
"Exactly." My mother said, authoritatively. "Therefore, it has been decided that you'll be having your betrothal ceremony in the upcoming summer and your wedding in the very next."
"Y/n, we're so glad for this relationship to establish. Our Jungkook wouldn't find any girl better than you. You don't have any objection with this, do you?" Mrs. Jeon had a little worry flashing in her eyes.
"Why would she have any objections? It's not up to her to decide. She's ought to marry into a pure-blood family anyway and you are the best option down there." Mother, with a stern expression, said.
Her mouth forming a straight line, Mrs. Jeon nodded a little, still unconvinced.
Soon, the dinner was served by our house-elf, Woody. The food consisted of steak and kidney pies. Though I usually like the dinner this house-elf makes, but today's one is rather gloomy.
"Where's your younger son?" Mr. Jeon sipped some wine from the goblet. "Oh, Levi! He's spending his summer holidays at the Nyxs'. He's chums with their younger son." Dad answered.
He's not spending his summer holidays elsewhere because of some stupid life values like friendship. He wants to escape this family.
He doesn't hate our family. But would choose to be elsewhere than to cause any trouble here.
"He's in the third year, isn't he?" Mrs. Jeon questioned. "Yes." I responded. Mrs. Jeon was about to open her mouth again, probably to utter something irritating again, but someone else had spoken instead, for the first time this evening.
"I want to speak to Y/n." Jungkook looked up, for the first time this evening. "Alone." He looked directly into my mother's eye.
I almost chocked on my food at his statement. But was determined not to let it show. Why would he want to speak to me?
She'd have cursed me if it was I who did that.
Such, nerves!
"Sure." But she just...smiled. Though I can bet on my life it wasn't a happy smile. However, if whatever is happening is making my life miserable, she found glee in it.
Leaving my unfinished dinner, I led him up the stairs to my room. "Close the door." Jungkook muttered as he walked past me into my room, while I stood by the doorframe.
"Entering my room at the first meet was brave enough and now you want me to close the door? Don't you want me so bad?" I smirked as I shut the door by kicking it with my feet.
"Lock it." He demanded.
"Calm down young man, I see different intentions here." I gave him an expression of amusement while locking the door.
"Muffliato"
Jungkook casted the Muffliato charm. Wait- does he actually- I was just teasing him-
"I don't want to be overheard." He stated. I didn't reply anything. I just leaned against a table and kept watching him curiously, folding my arms.
"I don't want to get married to you." Jungkook exhaled as if he had been holding that lump of air for years. I scoffed. The audacity- "So? You think I'm dying to marry you? I don't want it either. But do we have a choice?"
This is the first time we've talked this much. Though he's a family friend and a senior at Hogwarts, we don't usually talk. It's just the casual 'hi' and 'hello's at family gatherings. We don't even glance at each other at school.
"Don't get me wrong. It's just that.... I don't want to get married to anyone..." He looked into my eye. "Else."
"What? Say it in a way that one can understand." I spat.
"I like someone." He said, massaging his temples. "Oh...." That was all I could reply with.
"And I wish to get married to that person." Jungkook said. "Who is it?" I asked. Jungkook parted his lips a little as if he was about to give me a name, but shut them soon after.
"None of your business." He diverted his gaze.
"Why? Can't I know about the mistress of my future husband?" I smirked. But Jungkook clearly wasn't in any mood of jokes.
"I'll stop this marriage. At any cost. Just do what I say when the time comes." He got onto his feet. "What's in it for me?" I asked.
"You'll get anything you want. When the time comes. Or maybe you'd want to avoid it for someone too?" Jungkook suggested.
"Not a chance." I said, confidently.
Jungkook nodded, understandingly. "We'll see. You'll get what you want. Just abide by my plan and try to find a solution as well."
"Why? I'd love to be your wife." I said, sarcastically.
"Let's go downstairs. They're waiting."
