Flying lessons
Friday was short classes as Astronomy was the endcap for the night. Follow up on Herbolgy to amek sure all was alright with the plants and Transfiguration set of lectures on moving matter from one state to another. But night came soon enough and Elizabeth had her scope set up first. She handed over her collected pictures from the summer. Including a set on Mars which got both moons just not at the same moment. She took her seat and dug into the lecture on Gemini and the magical influence of the twins in both ritual castings and in runes. Mostly Elizabeth dug into the night's sky. A little at a time the stress ebbed away. She then heard someone speaking low. "Avery's father died. He was not ill. Not sure how but dead as could be." she looked up, but could not tll who was speaking. Finally with time before curfew the class was to break up for the week.
The weekend brought out the quidditch teams doing workouts ands haking out the folks for tryouts. Theo wanted to support Draco so he was going and promised a lengthy trip in Hogsmeade to drag Elizabeth out. she wore the silver and green and brought a Arithmomancy book with her Also a lot of paper quill and ink. The team would be doing tryouts next weekend/ But this couple do much to shake the chaff out of the pool. As they set up the group saw the Gryffindor team finishing the same sort of shake out. Ginny was beaming and ran up and hugged Draco. "They called me back for next weekend. You were right I just needed to trust I could do it. I need to get going. Dinner tonight?" she asked. Draco nodded and watched her go. About ten minutes later the sky was filled with Slytherins . Marcus Flint got the shakedown going while the position holders were going about not showboating but offering helpful advice. There were two rather shakey kids trying out for seeker. Elizabeth knew this because Theo was hyped up and talking and talking about "Oh did you see that? That Keeper really messed up. Elizabeth your not watching." he said nudging her side. The ink bottle fell and broke. Not splattering them with ink. But putting an end to her more desired activity. She gave him a glare of death which his sheer excitement defeated. "Oh Merlin." he said realization sinking in. " I would make some pitiful sort of apology. It would be totally heartfelt. But I am sorry." he said. She put the other things away and looked skyward. The shakedown did not fill Elizabeth with much interest in the game but it made Theo happy and that was enough. That is till one of the Bludgers went wild and took out Malfoy's broom right ion the middle of the shaft. And he had been leaning forward the break gave him no time to try and balance pr anything it. He was pitched into a forward spin which tumbled him head over heels and Theo cast Arresto Momentum which allowed him to snap out of the tumble and crash onto the pitch. Which the cushioning charms on the ground would keep him from serious harm. But could still cause injury. The team levitated Draco out and down towards the school. And the medical wing. His arm and a couple of ribs were broke but otherwise nothing serious.
A little later Draco was visited by his girlfriend who brought him dinner so they could spend some time together. theo sent word back that Draco ha d a spill but other than a broken broom he was fine. But would need a new one as the bits were scattered. Theo then took Elizabeth down to the village. The most of the other times she had been here it had been to get to the train. Now it was to visit the. They walked into Honeydukes Theo was buying and for the ink spill she was making him pay. A few gallons and more chocolate that Theo had seen was bagged up. The replacement ink was just the one bottle and lunch they grabbed was at the Three Broomsticks . A burger and fries with two butterbeers and atmosphere was a prize for Elizabeth. And while they were in a corner booth and she had a full view of the hall she felt comfortable enough to say she let her guard down.
The walk back she started to sing softly. "Ring around my Finger. You'll be wrapped around my finger." she went back to humming. She seemed calm Till there was a branch that cracked off the trail. Her wand was out and her back towards Theo. Theo was surprised at her speed and reaction. Meanwhile. The couple that came out of the woods were still snogging and Elizabeth had her wand away as fast as it had come out. "How are those talks with Andi coming?" he asked. "Uh. Better than I had hoped. We should rush back. This was lovely Theo we need to sign up again. " she said not speeding up to a run but it was a steady fast pace.
Sunday saw Draco with a replacement broom at least by the evening post. Andi was happy to have Elizabeth in for a visit. "Why are you here ? I usually have just a meeting with Sirius on Sunday." Elizabeth. I was off grounds yesterday and for a while I felt relaxed. Then a couple making out broke a branch I had my wand outand Theo was mildly freaked out... Well maybe just really tense at my reaction." She said towards the mind healer. "Overreaction. Maybe?" Andi replied. " Yeah. Overreaction. But as soon as we were back in the school I was comfortable again." Andi injected "Were You?" Elizabeth scrunched her eyes better to think back. " I did not feel as exposed" The older woman looked at her. " You might need a session to see what is going on with both parts of your head. We will do this next weekend." Andi said. But of r the time being when you feel the need to isolate yourself. Be sure you let someone know so they can come find you if your needed. Say Theo or Even Draco." she suggests.
Monday was the Potions practical and The exam went quickly. The other half before Lunch was Care of Magical Creatures. The group was another Lion/Snake split class. Hagrid looked realy psyched for this. The creature was a Hippogriff. When he asked for a Volunteer Both she and Harry were standing when the whole class took a step back. "Thank God Hagrid had not found the Basilisk from last year or he would be showing it off." Elizabeth heard herself thinking. "She did not exactly hear Hagrid talking she was looking at the..It name was Buckbeak. She bowed but kept eye contact as did Harr. Harry took a step back but Elizabeth did not move. "Ok stop being stupid." she thought. Buckbeak clucked and made a sort other of bird noise." Who are you human?" it asked. "
Buckbeak saw her body language change. More relaxed self assured. "A friend" she said she realized that hurt to speak like that. Buckbeak tilted his head in amusement. "Ok Friend spare your voice. and let the boy come up here." he said in clicks and a sort of cluck. "Step up Harry." she said at her friend. Harry had stepped up closer and watching the two beings eventually touch Harry relaxed further and let the Hippogriff put it's head over his left shoulder. "Well done both of you." Hagrid said stepping up. "Now for you to ride him." He said grabbing Harry and put him on Buckbeak's back. Ahead of the wings. there was enough for a person. And with a slap on Buckbeak's butt sent the beast into a run and a jump into the air. Harry and the Hippogriff flew past the castle and across the lake. Harry was shouting in triumph at one point. "Just another reason to enjoy this world." she said aloud.
Once they are back on the ground Harry seems in a better mood than he had been when they came down here. Other started to rush up. A lot of bows Buckbeak is a little skittish as they had not waited for the replying bow. " Back up. Your rushing him. " she says loudly but not shouting. " the crowd stopped. Hagrid stepped up and said the assignment till next time a half foot on your impressions of meeting Buckbeak. As he spoke Greg had not backed off but also had not rushed into the beast personal space. He bowed and waited. He did not close and spoke to it. "You are a lovely animal. I hope we
can be friends. Buckbeak moved his head up and down as if he understood the words. The class headed back to the castle.
