Chapter 2
It took Remus a long time to walk from Evan's dorm to Gryffindor Tower, and by the time he arrived in his dorm, he could barely stand. Madame Pomfrey told him years ago that the transformations would get worse, but she never said anything about the days before the full moon. Ever since he turned fourteen the pain got worse every month. Every bone in his body ached, his head was still throbbing, and apart from the physical pain, he once again returned to his drom room with glassy eyes.
He didn't cry, Remus never cried, but he was still hurt. He took another deep breath and opened the door to his dorm to find James and Peter bending over a Quidditch magazine. He stood in the doorway awkwardly for a moment, trying to decide if he should go sulk in the bathroom, but decided against it when he felt another pang of pain in his hip, going straight for his bed.
"Hey Moony-", James began, looking up from the magazine but Remus walked right past them to his own bed, drawing the curtains around it. As soon as he lay down he could feel his body relax. Even tho the pain and the headache were still there, the darkness of the curtains and the softness of the matress helped seize them both. He sighed loudly, grateful for the moment of silence, tho it didn't last long as James immediatly drew back the curtains of his bed, letting the bright october sunlight in and once again, wornsening his headache. Remus winced, closing his eyes and rubbing his tempels.
"What?", he asked irritably.
"What's going on?", James asked with that concerned look of his. "Did something happen?"
"James, are you able to leave me alone for just one minute?!"
James lookes at him, not quite hurt but also without that usual brightness in his eyes.
"Sorry.", he said, a bit ashamed now.
"Nah, don't worry. I know you don't feel good right now." James replied empatheticly.
"Well it's not an excuse to go 'round being pissed at my friends."
"He has a point there." Peter said, pointing at him with his finger.
Remus sighed again, closing his eyes and rubbing his tempels, trying to breathe through his headache. At this point, he was almost looking forward to the full moon. He just wanted it to be over with. If he had to endure this headache a day longer, he would go mad.
James sat down on the edge of his bed. "Something happen between you and Evan?"
Remus tensed slightly at the question. Merlin, why did he have to have friends who care? It's so much easier to just bottle everything up and ignore it. "Just the usual. I don't want to talk about it."
" 'Just the usual' ?" James asked skeptically.
"Yes James, 'just the usual', now will you please just leave me alone so I can-"
"Alright, alright, I'll leave you to it. Just so you know Sirius is bringing you chocolate from hogsmead-"
"He is?" Remus asked, already getting under the covers.
"Yeah, you were a real git this morning, we thought you needed it." James grinned.
Ah, so there is one good thing about this day after all. Remus flashed James a grateful smile and drew the curtains around his bed once more.
