Chapter 3
Wednesday, 21th October 1975
Remus fell into a wierd sleep. Well, he wasn't exactly sleeping but he wasn't really awake either and he did not get all the rest he'd actually needed. The next couple of days went by without a word from Evan, until he heard a nock on his door on monday night, with a finished potions essay, a couple of chocolate frogs and an apologetic smile from Evan. He wasn't exactly happy that someone else had written his essay for him, but he appreciated the gesture. This was always how it went with the two of them: one of them srcewed up, they didn't talk for a couple of days until one of them showed up at the other ones dormroom with something to say "I'm sorry", even tho they never actually said the words out loud. But they always accepted the apologie.
"Oi Moony, wait up!" Sirius called as he was walking back to Gryffindor Tower after lunch, Remus' eyes heavy from too little sleep. It was the full moon last night but he didn't have any new injuries, so this morning when Madame Pomfrey was checking him in the hospital wing he persisted on going to class.
Remus didn't stop walking, but due to his speed Sirius caught up easily. He looked at him with that Sirius Black grinn.
"Bloody good moon, was it?" Sirius grinned, and it was. Ever since the Marauders became animagi the full moons got better and better and he rarely ever got any new scars. Just the days before the full moon got worse, and not just the pain. Remus now also had increadible mood swings. One second everything would be fine but the next he was about to punch a hole in the wall and then feel like he was about to start crying his eyes out because he didn't have any more ink left. Remus didn't really know what that was about but he hoped it would stop as he got older and it was just the mix of the wolf and his hormones.
"Yeah, it was." Remus said, still tired but cheering up and smiling to himself at the blurrey memory of last night.
They soon fell into step as they walked by a group of girls. Sirius winked at them and they giggled as they hurried past the two Gryffindor boys. It was funny, seeing Sirius get girls all riled up and giggly even tho he was gay. He wasn't openly outed of course, none of them were, but if you just took a proper look at them you could easily figure out that none of them were actually straight. And because the Marauders were often in the spotlight with two of them on the Quidditch team and all of their pranks, half of Hogwarts propably at least suspected, and the other half was propably in denial.
It was actually kind of funny: In their third year Remus came out to them an bi. Only a couple months after that, during summer holiday at the Potter's, Sirius told them he was gay. James shortly followed suit, comming out as pansexual, confessing that in the beginning of their third year he kind of had a crush on Remus but only figured it out months later when Remus came out. Before that, he actually never even thought about being queer and was quite surprised when he then found out what those feelings he had at the beginning of the year were actually all about. But nobody actually knew what Peter's deal was, not even Peter himself. They did ask him, more than once, as the topic of sexuality wasn't a sore spot for any of them, but he just didn't know yet. All he knew, was that he was defenitly not straight. They continued talking about it, which turned into speculating, which then turned into a game in which the four of them made up stories about how Peter was going to find out.
So even tho they weren't actually openly outed, most people still knew. Some students made comments or snide remarks about it, but thankfully, most of them left them alone, and anyone who didn't was sure to find themselves involved in the Marauders' next prank.
"Why do you keep winking at them?" Remus asked, still smiling.
"Why, you jealous Moony?" Sirius asked back, looking up at him almost seriously but with a wry smile still tugging at the right corner of his mouth.
Remus snorted. "Yeah right, keep dreaming Pads."
"What, you don't fancy the one and only Sirius Black, casanova of Gryffindor Tower?"
"Aren't you Sirius Black the third?" Remus teased, "And who gave you that title anyways?!" he laughed in disbelief.
"Oh, shut it!" Sirius laughed, "You wound me, Moony!"
"Sorry, I think that was the wolf talking, but don't worry, I think he's gone now."
"Shame, I would've liked telling him how terribly he hurt me!" Sirius said dramaticly, holding his hand up to his forehead.
"Oh don't you worry, you'll be able to speak to him in less than a month." Remus sighed, already not looking forward to the next full moon.
Sirius looked up at him sympathetically. They then soon reached Gryffindor Tower and climbed through the portrait hole into the common room.
"There you are!" James said, grabbing them both at the wrist and dragging them over to Peter, who was sitting infront of the fireplace with books and papers scattered on the carpet infront of him. "Pete and I had this great idea for a prank!" James was bobbing up and down with excitement, and Remus could practically feel Sirius' grinn. Remus just smiled to himself, shaking his head. "Sorry lads, can't. I'm meeting Evan."
"Ohhh, c'mon Moony"
"Yeah, come on Moony!"
"Sorry," he grinned, "but I've got a boy to meet."
"Look at our loverboy, look at him go!" James said theatrically, falling sideways onto Sirius' shoulder, pretending to cry.
"Look at what you've done to Prongs!" Sirius cried.
"He really needs to check his priorities." Peter said in a stern voice, a little smile still dancing over his lips. Remus flashed them one last smile before he turned around and walked back out the common room, still grinning like a maniac.

The first thing they did when Remus arrived at Evan's dorm was kiss. He didn't even properly knock before Evan ripped open the door, pulling him in. Remus barely even got a chance to look at him properly, but he didn't mind. Oh no, Remus didn't mind the least.
A couple of hours later, they were just laying next to each other, not really knowing what to say. This was almost routine by now. After they made up, Evan always pulled him close, they made out for a couple of hours and afterwards, neither of them exactly new what to say, so they just lay in silence, which was fine, it wasn't uncomfortable, but often he wished they'd had something to talk about. Yes, of course, Remus liked the silence, loved it even and it was good that they were able to enjoy each others company in silence, but sometimes he just wanted to talk. Not about anything serious, at that he knew they were both crap at. Just about casual things, how was your day, what have you been doing, the weather, even.
He always saw it with Lily and James; they were always talknig and it was alway so relaxed and it seemed so comfortable, so easy. But who was he to compare James and Lily to him and Evan, it was just to different, they were just to different, you just couldn't compare them.
But that was okay. Just because Evan and Remus didn't talk like other couples, did not mean their relationship was bad. No, it wasn't it was just fine.
