James was sat in the living room, barely paying attention to whatever Christmas movie marathon Regulus put on to distract him as he worked in his Potions room James built special for him.
So, James sat, half asleep on the couch and bored out of his mind, decided to maybe pay a little bit of attention. He fixes his glasses and sits upright. A short animated film of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is playing. James furrows his brows in interest, slowly reaching over to call Sirius.
"Hey, Pads... can you come over real quick?" James asks hesitantly, pausing the short film on a scene with a close up of Rudolph.
"Yeah, Prongs? Is something the matter?" Sirius' voice sounds from over the phone
"No, but I got a really good idea and it'd piss off your brother," James replies with a growing smile. He can practically hear how Sirius leaps up, eager with the opportunity to fuck with Regulus.
"I'll be there in 5,"
"Bring something red, round, and the size of your palm. The shinier the better," James says excitedly.
Less than 5 minutes later, Sirius is creeping through the door, careful to not alert Regulus, even though the Potions room is soundproof inside and out. Sirius pulls out a shiny red rubber ball and throws it to James.
"Perfect. Right, see that deer on the telly? Yeah, it's name is Rudolph, it's a muggle reindeer tale. So when I turn into a stag and all, you're gonna magick the ball onto my nose so l look like Rudolph, and then you'll call Reg out and he'll be so confused," James explains, hands moving animatedly, gesticulating heavily as he talks. Sirius nods along excitedly, waiting for James to transform.
Sirius grabs the ball, casting a temporary sticking charm to the ball as James turns into a stag. Sirius carefully places the ball on James nose, calling out "Regulussss!! Come down here!"
Regulus emerges from the Potions room, stopping at the top of the stairway as he catches sight of James in his stag form.
"What... the fuck... is this?
