Chapter 1

The marauders and lily were walking in an amusement park, they had been here that day using the fact that it finally wasn't raining anymore to go there. A lot of people had the same idea as them but it didn't stop the group, they were all determined to try every attraction in the park. They pushed through the crowd with confidence to get to their next attraction. Remus however was walking behind the others, he leaned heavily on his cane and was desperately trying to stay as close to his friends as he could but his speed was decreasing. The other people didn't help, he had to dodge and make sure he didn't hit anyone with his cane or didn't walk on any feet. He felt the heat on his skin that made him sweat, it was uncomfortable and he knew he needed a shower but he didn't think he would have the energy to. Not after everything they'd done that day, but, he continued walking despite how he was feeling. He tried staying strong so he wouldn't disappoint his friends. He could see they reached a new attraction, he saw James squint at a sign "we have to wait for.. 20 minutes" he read. He smiled at his friend and started excitedly talking about how they were almost done and how the day was amazing, he put his hand around Lily's waist, Sirius stood in front of him with his hand in the pocket of his trousers and Peter was standing on the side looking at the attraction they were gonna do. Remus got here a few minutes after all his friends, he moved to their side and slowly sat on a bench, wincing as he did so. He drowned out everything that was happening and stared in front of him. He stayed like this for a few minutes until he felt someone sat next to him, he could see red hair from his peripheral vision and knew who it was instantly. "How are you doing?" Lily said quietly "I'm fine" Remus replied, he wanted to lie but he knew his voice betrayed him. He was also slouching a lot and his legs were tense. "you can't continue?" She stated more than asked. He wanted to tell her he was ok, that he could do it but deep down he knew that was a bad idea so he nodded. Lily rubbed her hand on his shoulder in a comforting way and looked at the other. "Guys, Remus is getting tired. I'm gonna go back to the car and we will wait for you there." Remus was grateful that Lily didn't tell the others to all go home, he didn't want to ruin the fun for his friends. He was looking at Lily not noticing that a dark haired boy had walked away from the group and stopped in front of him. "I will go with him you can stay here" he turned his head quickly and his brow furrowed in surprise Remus didn't believe what was happening, his heart started beating faster and a feeling of warmth spread through him. He didn't understand why but he was glad Sirius asked to help him. Lily gave him a small sad smile before she stood up to go back to the other "if you're sure" she said as she passed him. Remus placed his hands on the bench and pushed to get up, he felt a hand under his arm and saw Sirius helping him get up. The smaller boy handed him his cane which he quickly took and started making his way to the car. Sirius followed him and linked his arm with Remus. He was looking at Remus with a concerned face as he saw how tired he looked. If asked what he was doing he would say he wanted to make sure Remus wouldn't fall but deep down he just wanted to feel him and always tried to find excuses to do it. Remus didn't like being treated as if he would break in a second but having Sirius here, next to him and his arm in his made him feel a bit better. It didn't improve his health but it made him feel cared and safe. And that maybe his friends wouldn't say anything about how he abandoned them before they finished what they had planned.
