Chapter 1
It was late, a bit over midnight. Regulus Black was walking in a hallway in the castle, making his way to the astronomy tower. It was quiet, his footsteps against the stone floor were the only thing making a voice. He felt like he was doing something he was not supposed to, like something that was wrong. Well of course it was wrong, he was about to meet his brother's best friend once again.
“You are late.” Regulus hears James saying as he enters the astronomy tower. They have been seeing each other for quite a while now, it all started after a quidditch game months ago.
“I can't just walk around the school at midnight, I don't have an invisibility cloak like some of us.” Regulus muttered.
“Fair enough I guess. Come here” James patted the spot next to him. Regulus moved to sit down. James polled him a little bit closer and put arm around the other boy's body. Both of them just started the sky while talking.
“This is stupid, Potter. We should not do this, what if someone finds out, what if my brother-” Regulus started, but James interrupted him.
“Reg, nobody is going to find out. I will make sure nobody will find out about us.” James took a tighter grip of regulus’ shoulder. “And what if this is stupid? Then it is. This is fucking stupid” James said more playfully.
“I will kill you if somebody finds out.” Regulus answered and leaned his head against James. His voice sounded softer, relaxed as he closed his eyes.
“I know that.” James smirked.
For a while, they just sat there. Nobody said a word, the silence was comforting, like two souls that were meant to be together. The night started fading as the dawn slowly approached.
Finally, Regulus spoke up. “We need to stop seeing each other. You know this is wrong.” he said, while trying to avoid James’ eyes.
“If you would really deep down want this to stop, you would not spend the night here. You would not even show up in the first place. We both know this is wrong, but we just need to take a risk, we both need this.” James turned to look at Regulus while speaking. Regulus didn’t know what to say, because he knew that James was right.
“I really got a leave before everyone wakes up.” Regulus said and stood up, but James pulled him back down.
“Please stay. Just for a couple more minutes.” James looked at him with begging eyes, but Regulus had to let go of his hand.
“I'm sorry James, I can’t” He said and got up. James also stood up next to him.
“Then give me a kiss.” James smirked. Regulus kissed him quickly before turning and heading back to Slytherin's common room. James looked after him for a while until he took his cloak and left.
