Prologue
On the 4th of may, 1992 Pansy knew who she was.
She was a Parkinson
A wealthy Pureblood.
And like all Parkinson’s before her, she would marry for the benefit of the Parkinson name. For wealth or social status (although, those things often go hand in hand).
She would eventually be a bartering chip in a deal she was oblivious to. Not that her knowing would matter, of-course.
Amaryllis Parkinson, formerly Amaryllis Fawley, Pansy’s mother, was married to Percival Parkinson when she was 19 and he was 33 and once widowed.
Pansy was the 2nd child of Percival Parkinson. Her elder brother, Phineas was the child of the late Beatrice Parkinson and Percival Parkinson.
Phineas was never outwardly mean to Pansy. He was simple there. Existing in the same home. Phineas didn’t particularly care for Pansy and Pansy didn’t particularly care for him.
On this day, the 4th of may, Pansy was turning 12. And as such, it was only appropriate that a lavish party be held at Parkinson manor to celebrate.
Like a good pureblood wife should, Amaryllis has been furiously planning over the fast few weeks. Curating menus, seating charts, invitations and etcetera.
Anyone who mattered in the wizarding world was sent invitations. This, of-course, includes all 28 pureblood main families and extended families, ministers, high profile individuals, socialites, among others.
Pansy walks into the main ballroom next to the beautiful Amaryllis Parkinson. Her watchful gaze pinned on pansy. Her perfectly plucked eyebrows narrowing to convey her discontent towards pansy’s clear enthusiasm.
“People will think you cannot control your emotions, Pansy”
Her mother’s commanding voice fills her ears.
Today, she would be a calm and respectful pureblood daughter. Amaryllis would walk her around the room, introducing her to anyone she deemed worthy.
Amaryllis guides Pansy to a large group of witches and wizards wearing fashionable but practice clothing. The women, Long sophisticated gowns and the men, suits of dark colours.
On closer inspection there were people of a smaller stature. Children, who looked to be around pansy’s age. Five of them.
Two girls who looked similarly ,with dark hair and pale skin, one wearing a deep blue dress and the other, a teal one. Their dresses reached just below their knees and their shoes are reminiscent of a mature ladies heels, but
with a shorter and more stubby heel.
There were three boys, all wearing similar suits in different colours. The one with pale, almost white overly gelled hair wears a black suit, the one with darker skin and shorter hair wears a grey suit and one with pale skin and brown hair wears a deep blue suit in a similar colour to the girls dress.
Amaryllis begins introductions.
“This is Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy and their son, Draco” she says gesturing to two intimidatingly tall individuals wearing all black. The man has fraakshly pale hair, like the son, Draco. And the women has a singular streak of the colour running through her perfectly pinned up hair.
“Hello, a please to meet you” offers Pansy
“Yes, you too” Narcissa responds bluntly.
onto the next. A handsome couple who looked as though they could be siblings.
“This is Soleil and Jamison Greengrass and their 2 daughters Daphne and Astoria. “
One again Pansy offers a greeting and is given a mediocre response back.
Again Amaryllis introduced two others, a man and a woman, who Pansy had assumed were a couple at first. The man was ugly and balding with wrinkled and imperfect skin while the woman was the polar opposite, she was one of the most beautiful women Pansy had ever seen. Tall and thin with dark unmarred skin and shoulder length perfectly manufactured curls. She had full eyebrows, heart shaped lips and an angular jaw.
“This is Theodore Nott sr and his son, Theodore nott Jr” gesturing to the boy with brown curly hair
Before Pansy could give her greetings, she moved on.
“ and this is Agatha Zabini and her son Blaise Zabini”
Mr Nott gave a rude grunt in response
“Hello, nice to meet you” gave Agatha Zabini
Pansy gave her politest smile and a
“You too”
Throughout all of this, the children have remained silent aside from the introductory smile.
After a while Amaryllis became engrossed in conversation, about what Pansy wasn’t sure.
Eventually, Amaryllis signalled for the children to socialise amongst themselves somewhere else.
They broke off from the adults and melted into a polite silence.
Pansy could not tell if the other had met each other before until the girl in the deep blue dress, Daphne, in an attempt for genuine friendship or just to make conversation mentions that we were all going to be going to Hogwarts together soon.
“Except Astoria” she interjects before anyone could respond.
“She is a few years younger than us”Daphne continues.
from there, conversation flow amongst the five of them.
“What subjects are you good at?”
“I quite like potions and arithmancy” pansy responds
Daphne and Blaise humm in agreement
“I hope we are all in the same house” Draco Malfoy
They all respond with similar gestures of agreement.
After a while, Pansy is called to greet new people and they do not meet again for the end of the night.
In the following days, Pansy received an owl from Daphne and Astoria, inviting her to have tea at Greengrass manor.
