They like each other.
James
James liked listening to Sirius rambling about the stuff he likes, but this crush was starting to get annoying. At first it was nice to hear and see Sirius being so in love, but now Sirius is making it way more difficult for himself than it actually is. James doesn’t like that. James thinks that Remus likes Sirius back. He has seen the way he looks at Sirius. James is good at reading people, he’s pretty sure that he’s right.

Lily
Lily hated that Remus didn’t talk about how he feels or anything like that. So now she’s really happy that he finally opened up about his crush and his feelings. Lily wants to help Remus ask Sirius out, she also understands why he’s so hesitant. Yes, she still thinks that Sirius is secretly gay, but she also understands that Remus thinks that he isn’t. She’s still convinced that he likes Remus. She is good at reading people, Lily pretty sure that she is right.

Lily is going to ask Sirius if he likes anyone. After a quidditch training session she pulls him aside, of course James follows too. That doesn’t matter, Sirius and James tell each other everything anyway.
“Sirius I need to ask you something for a friend.” Lily begins. “And that is?” Sirius asks impatiently. “My friend is wondering if you like anyone.”
“No… I don’t like anyone at the moment.” He responds a bit nervously, James gives him a look that says ‘You have to be kidding me.’
Lily immediately knows, he likes someone, but he doesn’t want to admit it. He is always very open about the girls he likes, unless maybe he now likes a guy instead of a girl. “Who is it?” Lily asks, which makes Sirius even more nervous. “I already said, I don’t like anyone.” Jame is holding back his laughter. “Interesting.” Lily says before walking away.
James
After Lily left, James burst out laughing. He found Sirius’s nervousness very amusing.
“Oi, it’s not funny.” Sirius says and he hits James, not hard of course. “You made it so obvious.” James says while wiping a few tears from laughing. “You should really ask him out, he obviously likes you.” “How can you be so sure of that?!” Sirius said annoyed. “She’s best friends with Remus, they hang out almost everyday. So that friend* is obviously him.”
“Sure” Sirius said sarcastically, still annoyed.
“I’m being serious.” Sirius looked at him with a grin, James knew what was coming.
“No, I’m Sirius.”
Even though Sirius had made that joke about a million times already, the both bursted out laughing.
