Tell Him I Love Him
James. James. It wasn't real, it was a dream, give him time, he'll wake up. He'll wake up drenched in sweat, panting, and he'll grab the mirror and James's face will appear and he'll conform that he is, in fact, alive. He's alive. He has to be alive.
He couldn't remember apparating back to flat, but found himself stumbling in sitting down heavily on the couch. He couldn't think, he couldn't see,
'Fucking Peter!' was playing in repeat in the back of his head as he got up stumbling numbly around with no destination in mind,
"Remus!?" He called out helplessly, perfectly aware that his boyfriend wasn't there.
"Remus." He said again, this time as a sob, he crumbled to the floor in the middle of the study, it smelled of Remus.
He couldn't cry, he needed to cry but everything was blocked with disbelief.
He wasn't sure how long he'd been on the floor for, a minute? A day? A second? A year? But a sharp knock on the window knocked him out of his hyperventilating numb state, he got up, he legs weren't there, he couldn't feel his body, he was floating through to the kitchen.
There was a letter in his hand, where'd he get it? Must of been from an owl. He opened the seal,
"Sirius Black,
You have been summoned to appear in court in half-an-hour, for a trail against the murders of James Potter and Lily Potter.
Failure to do so will result in immediate imprisonment.
You may bring one witness.
Signed,
Minister for Magic,
Millicent Bagnold."
Sirius was shaking now.
"Me? Why me?"
"'Cause your the bloody secret keeper Black!"
He jumped, whipping around to see Moody standing in the kitchen doorway. Moody didn't hesitate, he lunged forward wand outstretched and shot a wordless bonding curse, tying Sirius's hands together at the wrists, he the summoned Sirius's wand which was sitting on the floor of the study.
What he wouldn't give to be back in the study, no. Not the study, Remus's study. He wanted Remus. Where was Remus? He was dead to. No. Sirius shock his head. No, the pack, Remus is with the pack.
"Half-an-hour?" He stuttered helplessly, as Moody whipped him around and began patting down his pockets,
"Yeah, that was before you went and killed Pettigrew."
"Peter? What happened to Peter?"
"You tell me, Bastard! I trusted you Black! Should of known, the whole family's rotten."
Sirius couldn't hear anything, his heartbeat was thundering to loudly in his ears, the world was spinning, his legs weren't there, he couldn't cry he needed to cry, he needed James, he really fucking needed James. But James was dead, James was dead and never coming back.
Moody was shacking his shoulders now, "You hear me boy!" He screamed, Sirius flinched away, too loud, too close.
He shock his head mutely, Moody sighed, "Do you have a witness?"
"A what?"
"Where's Remus!?"
Now Sirius was angry, now he was really angry,
"YOU FUCKING TELL ME MOODY!?? WHERE IS REMUS!? BECAUSE I DON'T FUCKING KNOW! I DON'T GET FUCKING TOLD! HE'S MY FUCKING BOYFRIEND AND YOU'VE SENT HIM AWAY SOMEWHERE AND YOU-"
His voice cut off as Moody stole it with a flick of his wand, "Stop your blabbering Black, I asked because Remus should be back, clearly he's not, and it's a good thing too."
Sirius wanted to ask why it was a good thing but the world suddenly whipped away from him as Moody apperated them both. Next thing he knew he was standing in a large hall, Many people stood in front of him, the Minister for Magic included.
He felt a sharp 'pop!' as Moody returned his voice, the old man dragged him back to a chair in the centre of the room, he threw Sirius into it, the force snapping him out of his daze. He looked down to find sharp metal cuffs clamping around his wrists and ankles, binding him to the chair, Moody stepped back and an iron cage came up form the ground, closing him in, then the Charlie began to rise up until he was eye level with the people in the stands.
He stared at the, on of them was talk, or their mouth was moving, but there was a skull splitting screeching in Sirius's ears dulling any noise. He blinked them closed his eyes for a long while. When he opened them again everyone was staring at him, their faces varying degrees of expectant.
"What?" He managed to splutter through the bolder in his throat.
Millicent Bagnold cleared her throat and repeated, "You have been summoned here today following the events in Godric's Hollow, which resulted in the deaths of Lily and James Potter."
Sirius flinched but Millicent continued undeterred, "We have been informed that, when the Potter's went into hiding in Godric's Hollow they were advised to pick a secret keeper. We have also been informed that you, Mr. Sirius Orion Black, was that chosen secret keeper. Are we correct?"
"No!" Sirius spluttered beggingly,
"What was incorrect?"
"I'm not the secret keeper! It's Peter! It was Peter!"
"Mr Black," A new voice spoke up, Sirius recognised them but couldn't name them, a famous ministry official? Been in the paper? They contined,
"You, yourself, have voiced that you were made secret keeper."
"I- I- that, that was the plan! I said it was me, and if people wanted secrets they would get me but then Peter, would actually have them because he's less suspicious!"
"I believe him." Another new voice,
"Miss MacDonald, sit down please."
"No! I'm here on Sirius's behalf I'm here to defend him!"
"No, you are not. You are here to watch over."
"Mary! Mary, Mary! Please! Please believe me! I'd never hurt James! Never! Or Lily! Never, never, never!" His eye's were finally welling with tears at the sight of his friend,
"I do believe you, Sirius, I know you'd never do that."
"Guilty!" Someone from the higher seats yelled, Sirius looked up. Lucius Malfoy.
"What!" Mary screamed, "What! What no! No, he's not!"
"Miss MacDonald, sit down!" Lucius said, "I have preformed legilimancy on him, I am aware of everything that happened, I'm sorry Miss MacDonald but with my own eye's I have seen his memories of the murder."
"Send him to Azkaban." Millicent Bagnold flicked her wrist before picking up a pile of notes and flicking through them.
Sirius stared, unable to speak, to deny, He was still staring at Malfoy, who was grinning madly, as guards came to untie him. As the forced him to stand he locked eyes with Mary.
She was crying, head in her hands.
The guards bean to drag him away but he fought,
"Please, please just let me say goodbye!"
The guards halted to a stop and Sirius took his chance, "Mary, Mary please!" She looked up at him eyes red with tears, "Mary tell Remus, tell Remus it wasn't me. Please!"
"I can't do that Sirius. I'm so sorry."
"What? Why not!"
"It was you Sirius, don't try to manipulate me. They used legilimancy for Merlin's sake."
"No! No, it wasn't me! It wasn't me Mary, please!"
The guards had begun to drag him away again and just as the flung open to large doors Sirius yelled the only thing he could think of,
"At least tell him I love him!"
"I'll try."
"Don't let him do anything stupid!" He had an extra second as the guards bond him wrists and ankles again,
"Mary, Please, don't let him do anything stupid!"
"He won't. He's not like you."
Sirius blinked back tears and he forced out the words, "Don't let him drink."
"I can't stop him."
"Mary don't let him drink! Please! Listen to me Mary!" She didn't reply and the guards were dragging him out the door again,
"MARY!" He screamed as loud as he could, "MARY! MARY! PLEASE, MARY DON'T LET HIM DRINK! MARY PLEASE!!! TELL HIM I LOVE HIM, MARY! PLEASE! Please! Please. Please, please, please, please, please, please."
"FUCK YOU MARY!"
