Like No One I Had Ever Met Before
A doctor was checking Vi to see if anything was wrong, she had broken her arm and so had to get a reduction and a cast put on.
Vi’s arm got worse as she ignored it and fought the medics off, trying to stay with Caitlyn.
Vi was sitting on the hospital bed and couldn’t stop thinking about Caitlyn she had just got her back and to lose her in the space of what seems like 10 seconds is…
Vi shook her head trying not to think about it
As Vi sat on the hospital bed thinking about Caitlyn the doctor tried to put an IV in Vi’s arm
Vi quickly moved her arm away and gave the doctor a look to say ‘what do you think you’re doing?!”
The doctor could tell Vi didn’t trust him, and so explained to her, to calm, help her and, hopefully, trust him. “I’m just putting an IV in, it’s to help with the pain”
Vi still seemed unsure
“IV works faster than tablets, and trust me when I put your arm back in its place your gonna thank me for it”
The doctor reached for vi’s arm and stopped, waiting for her approval “May I?” The doctor asked with his hand out
Vi put her arm out hesitantly and the doctor gently took it
“I see your tattoo on your face, that’s your name right?”
Vi, still thinking about Caitlyn, looked at the doctor and quietly said
“Y-yeah, yeah it is”
The doctor chuckled and said “You’ve got some on your arms and your back too, what made you get them?” He asked Trying to make conversation to make vi trust him and to take her mind off everything
“Being in prison for 7 years isn’t a picnic doc” Vi said still sitting there with her arm out.
The doctor stopped what he was doing and looked at Vi
“Vi I am not a threat, I promise, I’m here to help you not hurt you, and I actually want to thank you for being a hero, all of you, we wouldn’t be here without you”
Vi looked down
“I wasn’t the hero, that was my sister, Pow-“
Vi sighed remembering Jinx didn’t like being called that, even though she was gone she still did what she would’ve wanted
“Jinx” vi continued
“Where is Jinx now?” The doctor replied
Vi looked down and didn’t answer
“I see” The doctor said, regretting what he just asked
“I’m sorry” the doctor said
Vi looked at him but said nothing
The doctor tapped Vi’s arm trying to find a vein.
After a few minutes he finally did find one
“How long have you known Caitlyn for?”
Vi looked at the doctor with an unexpected look
The doctor chuckled and said “what? Didn’t think I’d hear about you fighting the medics off trying to stay with Caitlyn, even with a broken arm”
The doctor smiled and said
“I didn’t need to see it, I got told and knew straight away that you two were something, I mean you do love her, right?”
Vi smiled and said
“Yeah, more than anything… I- I’m in love with her. I have been from the moment we met but I- I kept pushing those feelings away, and now-“
Vi stopped and didn’t want to say anything else, she didn’t want what she was thinking to be said out loud because if it was it would mean it’s true
The doctor understood why Vi stopped and asked “so what made you fall in love with her?”
Vi smiled replaying the memories in her head
“Well-“
As Vi spoke the doctor put the needle in her arm without any warning
“Ouch what the fuck!” Vi said looking at the doctor
“Sorry, sharp scratch” the doctor replied
Vi looked at him with a straight face “a little late now doc”
The doctor smiled and said “so you and Caitlyn…”
Vi carried on and said “I’d never met anyone like her before, she was, she was different, in a good way, she cared about Zaun just as much as I did, I’d never met anyone like her before and I am so lucky to have met her, Cait changed my life for the better having her in my life makes it a billion times better” Vi sighed and looked down “I don’t know who I’d be without her”l She did know she was a wreck without Caitlyns dn Caitlyn was a wreck without Vi
The doctor smiled and said
“I can tell you love her a hell of a lot. Caitlyn is a good one, trust me, I’ve heard a lot about her, plus she’s a Kiramman, you got a good one Vi”
Vi chuckled lightly and said “yeah I know trust me”
“You know Caitlyn went through a tough time at one point”
Vi nodded “I know, after her mum died”
The doctor inserted the medicine in Vi’s IV
“Yeah of course after her mum died, but there was a time after that too, she wasn’t the same person”
Vi looked at the doctor in shock “wait you were here when all that was going on?”
The doctor was done with Vi’s arm and put it down gently
“Yeah I was. I’ve been here for a while, she just… she wasn’t the same person”
Vi looked at the doctor and knowing why
“Yeah it’s because of Ambessa she manipulated Caitlyn
The doctor looked at Vi and said
“Lie on the bed for me I’m just gonna feel for any bruising”
Vi laid down on the bed
“Tell me if it hurts” the doctor said
Vi nodded
The doctor pressed down on Vi’s stomach and kept pushing down gently
“I don’t think you realise Vi, Caitlyn was like that because she didn’t have you”
Vi looked at the doctor with confusion “what do you mean, when you say, like that?”
The doctor sighed
“She was in pain, mentally, she didn’t know what she was doing and when you were here she had someone she loved without you she had no one”
Vi flinched in pain as the doctor pressed down gently on her ribs
“There?” The doctor said gently pushing on her ribs again
“Yeah…” Vi cried out gritting her teeth in pain
The doctor looked at Vi and said “it seems you have bruised your ribs badly, they’ll heal on its own but don’t do anything drastic, and you will be in pain for a while, so just be careful and rest”
Vi nodded
The doctor noticed blood coming through Vi’s shirt
“You’ve also got some cuts on your back so I’m gonna put some light bandages on there to stop the bleeding”
Vi nodded telling the doctor she understood
As the doctor wrapped bandages around vi’s back and front Vi asked him more about Caitlyn when she was gone
“I don’t really know what else to say except when you came back, Caitlyn came back, she loves you more than anything. I’m not a love doctor but it doesn’t take a genius to see it” the doctor replied smiling
A small smile tugged at the corner of Vi’s mouth
The doctor was done bandaging Vi up and made sure she was okay
“I’ll be back in a minute, there’s a shirt on the chair over there”
The doctor pointed at the chair, Vi looked over her shoulder
“It’s kind of the same shirt but I thought you could use a new shirt instead of a bloody one” the doctor said smiling
The doctor left.
With a lot of struggle and pain Vi changed her shirt holding onto her old one.
She sat back down on the bed waiting for the doctor to come back.
After a few minutes the doctor came back
“I’ll take that” that doctor said holding his hand out to take Vi’s old bloody shirt
Vi handed it to him “Thanks… for everything doc”
The doctor smiled and said “don’t worry, but I need to sort out your arm”
Vi forgot about her shoulder as she kept focusing on the thought of Caitlyn
The doctor sat Vi straight and
“I need to pop it back into place. This is going to hurt”
Vi looked at the doctor and said “wait I tho-“
Without another second CRACK
Vi screamed in pain
“It’s better to do it when you least expect it” the doctor said nervously
Vi looked at the doctor annoyed
“I thought you said the IV meds would stop it from hurting?!”
The doctor replied “no, I said you’d thank me for it later”
“The IV meds help reduce the pain not stop it completely” the doctor said
Vi just looked away holding her arm
As the doctor grabbed a sling and put it on Vi to keep her arm secure there was a knock at the door
The door opened and it was Mel
Vi saw Mel walk in
“Mel?”
Mel looked at Vi and smiled then looked at the doctor and asked “how’s she doing”
The doctor replied to Mel
“She’s fine, I’m giving her painkillers for her broken arm, it should be healed in a few weeks, but she’s also got a few bruised ribs so she needs to take it easy”
Mel nodded at the doctor and turned to Vi
Without another second Vi asked
“Where is she?”
“Vi liste-“
“Where is she?!” Vi cut Mel off wanting to find Caitlyn as soon as possible she doesn’t want to be away from her any longer
“She’s in room 138, bu-“
Without any hesitation Vi ripped the needle out of her arm and ran out the room
The doctor watched Vi run out and said “so much for taking it ease”
She ran down the corridors saying to herself
“138, room 138, 138” over and over again
Until finally she found it
“Room 138” she said to herself quietly
The door was closed
She stood outside the door.
She took a step toward putting her hand on the door handle and took a deep breath ready to go in
