Quinn
I was brought into an infirmary of sorts by a group of six kids whose names I later learned. I saw Theo sitting on one of the beds. When he saw me his jaw dropped, “Quinn?” he gaped.
I grinned, “Hey, Theo.” I ignored the weird looks some of the kids gave me and hugged him.
“What are you doing here? How did you even get here? How did you know?” He asked me.
“We wrote him a letter—” James started to explain.
“Her.” I corrected him.
“What?”
“You wrote her a letter. I’m gender-fluid.” I explained.
“Oh, so’s my uncle Percy.” Fred said, “Well, sort of. He transfigured himself into a woman so he could fuck and have a kid. He changed back into a man after she was born, but he’s been going back and forth quite a bit.”
“Speaking of fucking…” Cynthia said, nudging Victoir.
“What? I’m not gonna tell him now.” Victoir protested.
“Why not?” Alice asked.
Victoir sighed, “Fine. Teddy, I—” she took a deep breath, “I’m pregnant.”
Theo nearly jumped out of the bed, “What? Seriously?”
She nodded, “I was going to tell you last night, but then you went and got yourself rightly traumatised.”
“Not my fault.” Theo insisted.
A nurse walked into the room, “Shouldn’t you six be in class by now?” she said, almost pushing them out the door.
I sat down next to Theo, “So…Teddy, huh?”
Theo chuckled, “Yep.”
“I seem to remember trying to call you Teddy before. It did not end well for me.” I reminded him, “So is that just a girlfriend thing,or…?”
“No, pretty much everyone calls me that.” he said.
“Oh, really?”
“Shut up.”
There was a short, comfortable silence between us, before I said, “She seems really nice.”
“She is.” he told me, “Have I ever told you the story of how we started dating?”
“No, I can’t say you have.” I said.
“Well, we were in fourth year. She and James had gotten into a fight about something stupid over the summer. He convinced me to try to get with her, but only so I could break her heart. So we started dating. The only problem was I found it increasingly difficult to dump her.”
“So you fucked her instead.” I noted.
“We only started having sex this year. But…now she’s pregnant.”
“She is.”
“That probably means we’re gonna have to get married.”
“Probably.” I agreed.
“I think I’ll have James be my best man.”
I can’t pretend I wasn’t hurt by that. Theo had been my best friend since the day we met at the orphanage ten years ago. “Oh,” I said, “Cool.”
“Do you think you’ll be a girl?” Teddy asked rather suddenly.
“That’s not how it works.” I reminded him.
“I know, it’s just…traditionally, the groom dances with his mum. My mum’s dead. Sometimes, the groom will dance with his sister instead.” There was a long silence, “Quinn would you be my sister? When the time comes?”
I smiled and nodded. We talked some more after that. It seemed so short, but pretty soon the others came back, done with their classes for the day.
“I should probably go.” I told Theo, “Muggles aren’t supposed to be here, and I’ve already stayed for like nine hours. It was great to see you, though.”
Theo, to my surprise, stood up and hugged me, “I missed you, too.” he said.
“How about a tour of the castle before you go?” Fred suggested, “I mean, you’ll probably never come back here, so you’re gonna want to see more than just the Hospital Wing.”
So they took me all throughout the castle, into every classroom, corridor, and courtyard. As we walked, they told me vaguely about how they were each “mildly traumatised” and they made it seem like it wasn’t really a big deal at all.
Before I left Hogwarts, Theo pulled me aside. He told me that there was more. A lot more. So I interviewed all of them and wrote down what happened in this book. My only conclusion is that everyone here needs therapy.
We all decided that we need to hide this book, so we’re putting it in the Room of Requirement. If you find it and read it, don’t think of it as fiction. Everything that is written here actually happened.
Be careful.
Don’t let the same things happen to you.
Don’t underestimate your peers.
