I watched Remus use his cane to step up onto a platform in the Magasin de costumes. Teddy was at his uncles and aunts castle so we once again had the day to ourselves. Remus insisted with the ball being a month off and our masks on order it was only right we got custom suits to match.
“How do I look, Pads?” Remus turned to face me in a wonderful suit that fit him in all the right places. He was in a white button down shirt that stopped at his chest, tucked into a very dark pair of black trousers. Over both items was a reddish-brown tailcoat with golden collars and cuffs.
“You look really good, Moony.” I bit my lip from wanting to announce to him and the tailor that I thought he was something I wanted to defile me. The way the cloth landed on his body and hugged all the right places made me realize he was genuinely more handsome than I could have ever imagined.
“You think so? Is it too much or too little? Does it fit the style you are going for Seren?” He stepped away from the tailor and looked a bit closer into one of the mirrors. I stood and joined him, helping to fix out a few wrinkles it had from moving.
“It matches perfectly, Lune. Now I think you look handsome so if you also think so, next is shoes, yes?” I rested my head on his shoulder as best I could. He paused and looked over himself in the mirror once more before he turned and faced me a bit more.
“I think what we do next is to get you a suit. Something that screams, I designed this ball, it’s all mine. Here, I’ll go finish up with him and once I’m done we are getting you fitted.” He grabbed my hands and gave them a small squeeze. My heart jumped to my stomach at the notion I would be able to attend as someone of honor.
“You want me to be someone of importance at your ball? But why, I’m not important.” I felt my guard rising as if it was a cruel joke to get back at me for Teddy’s accident. He scrunched his face a bit as if he was trying to read me before simply smiling and waving his hand as if to ward away that thought.
“You planned this ball Seren, you have more say over it than I do. As the Duke of the castle I say it’s more your job than mine as to who is to be honored. Now it’s a month away, go get tailored and I’ll come watch when I get out of my suit.” He ruffled my hair a bit before he walked into one of the dressing rooms. The tailor waved me onto the circular platform so he could use his wand to measure me.

An hour or so later I was standing in front of the same mirror with a freshly made suit. The shirt was gold like the sun, with a bit of sparkle in it. The pants were a deep black that seemed to take all of the color in and let nothing out. Both were complimented by a sheer light blue cape that clipped onto the front with a moon pendant. The cape had the Canis Major constellation embroidered into it with black thread.
“How does it look, Moony? Do you think it’s too much?” I asked, twisting back and forth in the mirror. I could see he was nose deep into a few pieces of paperwork, his reading glasses resting on top of his nose. He looked up and paused for a minute.
“No, it looks good. You look good, Pads.” He finally remarked after a few minutes. I felt a little discouraged at that and felt I wasn’t doing well enough to look my best. I looked in a mirror again, I truly loved the outfit.
“I don’t know, I don’t think this is my best.” I started to build up a wall. I didn’t want him to know it hurt that something I liked a lot was too much for him. “How about something far more simple?”
“Simple? But I thought you loved it?” He set down his papers and moved to stand up. He looked concerned and pissed at the fact I decided to not pull too much attention from myself. “Seren, byddai'n well gennyf foddi yng ngolau'r lleuad nag erioed insinuate eich bod yn ormod.”
I whimpered as he wrapped his arm around my waist and tugged me so my back was flush with his chest. He rested his head over mine and used his other hand to pull and move the cape around to examine it. I felt his chest vibrate behind me and in the mirror I could see he was smiling.
“It’s not too much? I feel like it’s far too much compared to everything you’re wearing. I don’t want to be too much.” I felt his hand snake down to my hip and he gave a sharp squeeze. I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath.
“No, in fact I think I’m dressing too little. We are the hosts of this ball, you should dress as such, Seren. Now, you mentioned shoes? I think we should get these wrapped up and have them sent to the castle, you and I must go to the cobbler next.” He gave me one more squeeze around my waist before he was pushing away to go talk to the tailor. Allowing me to escape to the changing room to get out of the very extravagant garments.
