Remus
“Paddy!” Teddy cheered as Regulus walked into the library. It had been about four days since I had seen Sirius in our corner, and of course without having seen the older man a whole lot I could tell why my son assumed this was Sirius.
“No pup, not Padfoot. That’s Reggie, say Reggie?” I tried to get him to say anything other than Paddy. He refused, and for a child only three months past one year old, he was scarily good at remembering.
“I see our little one had said his first words! Oh and I was right James, the heterochromia stayed.” I heard James give a groan as he carried baby Harry into the library on his hip.
“You two bet on if my son would stay this way physically? That’s bloody rude to bet on my son!” I complained. Teddy saw Harry and started to squeal happily and wriggled out of my grasp.
“No, they bet on if he would stay, I bet on the first word. James lost both. Simply put, be grateful we are the ones running this kingdom because James sucks at bets.” Lily kissed her husband. Regulus smiled at the act and wrapped his hand into hers.
“Wonderful, James get better. My son isn’t yours to bet on anymore.” I grumbled watching the two babies crash into each other. I was quickly onto my feet before a hand anchored me down.
“Let them play. Merlin, you are such a helicopter father now. Are you aware that your maids talk? Been telling me for the last fifteen minutes how you’ve magically been babyproofing your castle. How he’s always strapped up to your chest. Are you okay?” James wrenched me down and I let out a tired sigh as I watched my son play.
“Teddy got hurt two months ago. It was really bad.” I rested my head in my hand. Regulus moved away from Lily and sat across from me with this worried look on his face.
“What happened? He looks perfectly fine.” He shifted a bit to look at both of his spouses before he looked back at me once again. I grumbled before sitting up again.
“Sirius and him were playing in the garden. He landed face first into the old fences I kept around my wolfsbane. That’s why there’s now a stone wall around it with a gate. Sirius healed him up.” I bit my lip.
“Where is my brother? I told you both we were visiting today didn’t I? Oh he must be thrilled to be Teddy’s first word.” Regulus quickly pointed out. I let out a deep breath before meeting the king's gaze.
“He doesn’t know.” The room grew very silent. Regulus gave me this look that said ‘continue before I use a curse on you’ and I couldn’t help but swallow again as I was now the center of attention. “I yelled at him. He let my son get hurt. He’s supposed to protect him.”
“You yelled at my brother, because Teddy got hurt? He looks perfectly fine, and after all of that, you yelled at him?” His voice was low and threatening.
“Yes. He’s supposed to protect Teddy, not let him get hurt!” I tried to defend myself. James looked at both of his spouses before he moved to stand behind Regulus. His hands rested on the younger man’s shoulders and I realized he was stabilizing his husband.
“Remus John Lupin, if you’re fucking telling me you have screamed at my brother because a child got hurt, like they do, I will rip your dick off and make it so Teddy remains an only child forever. You fucking better be joking!” He snapped at me.
“I regret yelling at him, but Teddy got hurt. Sirius let him get hurt. You can understand my anger can’t you?” I tried to reason. I was a scary man and yet this small little man who was younger than me and half my size was far scarier.
“Where is my brother?” He rested his hand over James’s. James removed his hand and stepped back to stand next to Lily who had taken over watching the boys play.
“I haven’t seen him in a few days. I saw him when your letter was delivered, he gave me it. But outside of that, I’ve asked him to return to his room, but I don’t know if he has.” I admitted sheepishly.
“Remus, you’re telling us you haven’t seen Sirius because a baby who just started to walk got hurt from falling down?” Lily asked moving to sit on the ground with the boys. On que Harry face planted and slammed his head into the carpet.
“Yeah news flash, children get hurt Remus. Especially when they are learning to crawl and walk.” James kissed Regulus on the forehead before he moved to lift his son up and settled him in his lap. “He will get hurt. It’s the fact Sirius healed him, and told you. He cares and was probably as panicked as you.”
“He was scared yeah. I guess I overreacted, I did try to apologize to him a month ago. It didn’t go as planned.” I sunk further into my spot. Regulus glared at me before standing and pointing his wand at me.
“Tu dois retrouver mon frère et arranger les choses. Seigneur, aide-moi, si jamais tu lui fais encore du mal, je veillerai personnellement à ce que non seulement tu perdes ton titre, mais que je te circoncisse. Je vais le faire putain.” It was thick and fluid, and so fucking calm it scared me.
“Right. Yeah I’m going to go do that.” I looked back at Teddy and decided that he should come with me. “I’m going to take Teddy, he’s been begging for Sirius for the last two months.”
“You fucking did this two months ago?” Regulus screamed. I quickly picked up my son to use against getting hexed. “And you are now realizing you were a rite idiot? Merlin, how did you live this long you dumb fucking asshole!”
“And that’s my que, I’ll come back once Sirius and I have made up. Please don’t kill me Reggie.” I backed out of the library with Teddy. He giggled as I swayed a bit with him before I fully left the library.
