Chapter 7
For now, Tom decided to do the simple thing and watch everything Quidditch related that Harry did. That included morning drills (which were around 6 A.M), regular training and the actual Quidditch games.
After careful observation, Tom concluded that Quidditch was the worst sport on this cursed planet and possibly the most dangerous.
But he also concluded that Harry absolutely loved said sport.
He could see it. He could see it in the way Harry idly moved around on his broom, distracted by the weightless sensation it brought, or how Harry would always go a little bit higher than necessary, before diving at a stupid speed just to get the golden snitch.
Tom could, potentially, talk to some people and pull some favors in order to get Harry dismissed from the Quidditch team. But after seeing the way Harry smiled when flying...
No, he just couldn't. So Tom decided to simply be there and watch out for the boy he liked.
The biggest Quidditch match of the year arrived: Gryffindor vs Slytherin.
Gods, Tom had been dreading this.
Since everyone was out there watching the match, the castle was empty, which would be perfect if it weren't for one problem: Tom isn't inside the castle.
Nope, instead, he's outside with everyone else, watching the Quidditch match. The only joy from being in such a loud and full place was that he could see Harry flying.
Had he mentioned how much he loves Harry's smile? Because he loves it so much it hurts.
Anyways, although Tom was (internally) cheering for Harry, he was still sitting with his house. It was a matter of house unity and pride after all, if he sat with the Gryffindors, not only would he be treated badly, he'd also be even more rejected by his house, so Tom decided to play it safe and just sit with his house. At least he could see Harry from here. He wondered if Harry would ever see him.
(So high up in the sky, Harry looked down and saw the pretty Slytherin boy again. He seemed the quiet type, so why was he here? The boy was always around Harry, but never talked to him.)
Tom was only able to relax after the Quidditch match was over and Harry was safely on the ground again. Gryffindor had won the match, mostly because Harry was an amazing seeker, and they seemed to recognize that, given how they dragged Harry around to their own private party.
Tom took his belongings and went to the library. The day was not over yet and there was so much to learn. The ugly and unsettling feeling that blossomed in his chest when he saw Harry smiling with his friends would have to be ignored for now.
