Chapter 8
In the end, Draco baited the quidditch team to have a competition against the team that he'll make.
It had been so easy to rile them up to the point where it started to get boring, although flying had been quite refreshing. He remembered the times he used to fly with Cale, it had been their little secret between mother and son and as much as it made him happy to sacrifice his life for Cale's future, he can't help but terribly miss his sweet child...
“Dray! What is this that I hear you causing troubles and being called delinquent by our upperclassmen?”, as usual, Pansy started lecturing him as they began to eat. Crabbe and Goyle were crying on the corners from being lectures at how they didn't guard Draco right.
He heard Blaise laugh as Draco began to form the plan in his mind. “Hey Blaise”, he called as he watched his black haired friend stop and shiver.
“H-hey Dray, why are you smiling like that?” he stuttered as Draco began to feel his lips, noticing how it quirks up to a smile.
“do you guys want to join the Quidditch team?” he asked as Blaise narrowed his eyes at him before sighing and leaning into the table with his hand.
“I wish”, he mumbled clearly annoyed. “there's no other position on the team and the only available one, you got it” he ranted which makes him shrug.
“I don't like the team”, he simply said, picking the carrots on his plates and putting it on the corner of his plate. “and we're obviously a slytherin. There's no use trying to play nice, so why don't we show our fang when they least expect it? what do you think about stealing their places and gobbling them up?” he added, smiling more sweetly as he noticed a group of two blonde and one redhead first years approached their table, which he simply waves and welcomed them with open arms, making sure to shut up anyone who glanced at them stupidly.
“let's continue our discussion later, give it a thought, I know that you won't disappoint me”, he finally said as Luna sat near him asking what they were talking about, waving it off with a 'it's nothing Luna' and giving the girl more food on her plate along with the other first years.
He noticed Pansy's glare, giving her a flying kiss and laughing when the girl turned red like a tomato and began mumbling curses that Draco was sure would give her pure blood parent a heart attack.
“How was class?”, he asked the three and noticed how pale the red haired girl was so he decided to put more vegetables on her food.
“It was fun! I never knew that I was a wizard so it's fun learning magic, and the best part of it all, I got to see Harry Potter!”, the child yelled, completely excited and Draco could feel his heart clench at the familiar sight. His little Cale used to get excited from every little thing as well, he had been the cutest there is in the whole world.
It was an unconscious action but before he knew it, he had been partying the boy's head with a content expression. “That's good. If you have any trouble, at all, I'm here. And that stands for all of you” he said and at the corner of his eye, he could see his previous wife, Astoria Green grass, peeking at him with curiosity. He ignored her, they don't know each other yet at this point of time.
The boy seems overjoyed as he began too much at the food before he looked at the other blonde, Luna. The girl began to tell her stories as well, she looks dreamy and that was a clear sign that she enjoyed her stay here aside from the tidbits where her things kept getting missing. Draco made sure that whoever it was or were, he'll make their lives a living hell.
And finally, he settled his gaze on the pale Weasley who gave him a shy smile. “it's all...good so far. There are weird things though— oh, the potion professor's a terror!” at the mention of the potion teacher, as if summoned, Severus appeared with an indignant expression.
“and maybe that's because a certain witch seems more talented cooking dog food rather than brewing a potion”, Severus stopped, eyeing Draco as if telling him, this is all your fault. “and what is a lion and a raven doing here exactly, hmm?”
He gave off a sheepish smile, allowing Ginny and the others to hide behind him from the potion master. He could hear the covered sneer of the upperclassmen of his own house and bit his lower lip, deciding to remember their names later on.
“I'm sorry professor, I didn't know that other house can't dine in at another”, he tried to appear as pitiful as be can, staring at his godfather right to his eyes. “But I'm abiding by the house unity rule, so can you please turn a blind eye for me this time around? Plus, they are asking for some tutoring regarding something they don't understand at your class professor...” he sheepishly lied as his godfather narrowed his eyes at him.
“hmm, is that so, then I guess I'll have no choice but to let it be”, his godfather smiled. Fucking smiled! At! Them! And Draco was about to celebrate when his godfather decided to open his mouth once again. “that is if what you are telling is the truth. The following exam, I need Creveey, Lovegood and Weasley to get a passing score or else I'll deduct 30 points each from your house”
He could see Blaise's amused smile alongside Nott's 'I knew he'd get in trouble' look and decided to screw it. “perfect..” he mumbled looking at his godfather's eyes once again. “if they get a perfect score alongside me and my wonderful friends Blaise and Nott—” he would have let Pansy be but her glare are saying that if he doesn't say her name as one of the wonderful friend, she'll murder him. “And Pansy of course, will you allow me to bring guests from other houses into our dorm room?”, he asked and gulped watching how his godfather's eyes twinkled in amusement.
“add Crabbe and Goyle into that and I'll even allow you to get some ingredients from my own personal storage all year around next year. Win the quidditch you initiated then I'll willingly tutor you regarding the spells you so much seeks”,
Draco knew he'd hit the jackpot once Snape told him that. He doesn't know how Snape found out about the little competition he initiated but he never doubts that everything would reach the man's ear.
Although having both Crabbe and Goyle achieve a perfect score seems impossible, he thinks that he could just beat it into them. He was about to say deal when Snape began to speak once again.
“however, if you fail to do that, I'll have you in detention for the whole year around, cleaning Hogwarts from every inch and stone there is, without using magic”
“deal”, he said, taking out his hand as the professor looked at his gesture for a minute before returning the gesture.
“I hope you don't disappoint me, Draco”, with that, the professor strutted away as Draco grinned looking at his friends as if they were money.
