Chapter 9

History of magic was as usual, boring, and so Draco did what was the most reasonable thing to do: he skipped class.

Don't get him wrong, he wasn't a delinquent of a student who often skipped class because it's boring— okay, maybe he kind of is but the point is, he already knows what professor Binns was talking about.

He strutted his way throughout the corridor and spotted a tree, then remembered what used to be her secret hiding place before regressing. As he was about to jump off a window though, a sob echoed nearby and to his shock, nearly headless Nick had just waltzed into the room, catching Dravo red handed at skipping a class.

As they stood still for a minute and two, Draco finally decided that she might as well greet the ghost. So he cleared his throat and gave off the most innocent smile that he could muster. "Oh, Hi there! What brought you here?", he tried to ask that as casually as she could, taking a step closer, watching how the ghost stopped his sobbing and began hiccuping and backing away with each step he took.

"O-oh! I-I mean, it was a pleasure s-seeing you, I h-hope I didn't disturb you—", he seemed to be in panic and Draco furrowed his eyebrows at that. Ever since his..previous experiences, he had noticed how the ghosts seemed to avoid her.

Except Peeves of course, that ghost is a menace.

But that aside, it stands the notion that something in him has changed and that something was the cause of the ghost's fear. He blames it on the God of Death as usual simply because almost everything was caused by that motherfucking god.

"No you didn't but I would appreciate it if you don't tattle me to the professors" he said calmly, still with the innocent act. "Also why are you crying? Is there anything I could help you with?", nope, Draco really doesn't care but he needs to distract the ghost before they focus on why he's skipping a class.

And so minutes flew by with the ghost ranting to him at how he couldn't participate in the headless hunt simply because his head isn't headless enough... At one point, Draco was even tempted to tear the head from his body himself before breathing in and out and maintaining his sweet smile as he listened warmly at the other.

As time passed though, the rant had become a discussion between the two's life and experiences and she simply felt himself getting closer with the ghost. His stories when he was alive had been interesting, Draco shared some of his insights at some point and now they could even joke with each other.

"it sounds stupid if you tell me, I mean, nearly headless is scarier than completely headless in my opinion. I mean, that neck is simply grotesque and hideous...", he didn't mean to insult the ghost, but speaking honestly, a headless head just looks like a pumpkin.

The ghost stared at him for a while before laughing. "Then, young lady Jour—", he flinched and then paused, looking at the ghost with a wide eye before taking a deep breath and opening his eyes that was now calm unlike earlier.

"Oh, my bad, is that supposed to be a secret?" the ghost now whispered as he looked around trying to see if there are others that heard what he said.

"How'd you know?", he narrowed his eyes sharply at the ghost who flinched really hard and began to tremble.

"I- The god of Death told us! T-Told us to protect you until- until a really trashy person comes, we also don't know what that's supposed to mean!" the ghost yelled, trembling as Draco sighed.

He should have known...but what's with the trashy person? He doubts that they were really trashy if they wanted to protect him, but they could also be enemies if they were able to speak to God of Death. Whoever it is, Draco was sure that it was a troublesome person and that he'll just avoid them if possible.

Looking up at the sky though, he realized that she not only skipped the Magical History class but also Charms and Defense Against Dark Arts.

"I think it's time for me to leave, it was enjoyable talking to you Nick", he said as he began to stand up, dusting his pants and waving him goodbye.

"uhh, wait! My lady, would you consider going to my death day party this week?" he asked as Draco gave a curt answer: "Yes, I'll be there but correction Nick, it's monsieur Draco. I'm no longer Jour" before hurrying over to his dorm where he was greeted by the sight of an angry looking Pansy.

"Delinquent Draco! Window climbing Draco! Rebellious Draco!" Pansy yelled, tone rising at each title she uttered. "Skipping a class like some uncultured Muggle, Dray? Being seen with the ghost of Gryffindors of all the ghost there is?" she sounds exhausted as she says that.

Draco looked at his other friends, spotting Crabbe and Goyle looking away from him and Nott and Blaise who finds amusement from his situation as always.

He only shuddered to think about Pansy's network connection as she was able to find out the gist of what he had done in the span of a few hours.

His friend truly is scary...

"Well, I got invited to headless Nick's death day anniversary, do you wanna come?", perhaps that was the wrong answer as he watched the girl begin to look at him more and more murderously before sighing, seemingly, resigning to her fate.

"Ugh, be thankful I love you!" she yelled, flapping onto the couch like a queen she is.

"Thank you, I love you too Pans!", Draco didn't hesitate to tell the girl as he gave her a hug before being waved off.

"I guess that's it for the entertainment" Nott spoke as he opened his book once again seemingly bored.

"Welp, a show's a show although I didn't expect Pans of all people to comply", Blaise was laughing his ass off as he said that making Draco confused as Pansy's ears just turns bright red.

"Whatever!", she flipped her hair refocusing her gaze at Draco. "what's your plan about Professor Snape and the quidditch team?", she asked, and the room turned serious once again as they say on the circular couch.

And there was only one thing he could say right now: "what do you think about gobbling them all?"
