The Champions Selection
The next morning, Carina went with Fleur so that she could enter her name into the Goblet of Fire, Carina ignored the stares that followed them as they walked through the giant castle, Carina expected them, after all Fleur was part veela and Carina was the Heiress to the Nobel and Most Ancient House of Black. Once they entered the Great Hall, Fleur headed straight for the goblet, ignoring the stares that she was receiving and put her name into it. Carina glared at everyone and they immediately started clapping for her best friend, satisfied they left the Great Hall and relaxed for the rest of the day in anticipation of the Champion Selection, occasionally talking to Draco and Luna about both Hogwarts and Beauxbatons.
Finally, they were at dinner, Carina kept a gentle grip on Fleur's hand occasionally giving it a reassuring squeeze whilst eating as she could tell that Fleur was extremely nervous for the upcoming event.
At last, Dumbledore came forward looked at the Goblet, the rest of the Hall also did this, looking at the Goblet expectantly.
"The champion for Hogwarts is Cedric Diggory."
A boy in yellow robes came to the front and took the piece of paper, he then proceeded to make his way into a room behind the Great Hall, while he did this everyone clapped, but the loudest applause came from the Hufflepuff table.
"The Durmstrang champion is Viktor Krum."
Again he came up took his paper and left the Great Hall while everyone applauded.
"And finally, the Beuxbatons champion is Fleur Delacour."
Carina clapped the loudest at this, ecstatic that her friend was able to compete.
However, just as everyone thought the selection was over, the Goblet of Fire did something completely unexpected and horrific, it changed colour and a piece of paper shot out of it.
Dumbledore stopped and turned his head to look up at the cup, he then proceeded to catch the first name, "Harry Potter" he called out everyone was silent not knowing or daring to clap.
Cautiously, Harry took the piece of paper from Dumbledore and made his way to the room outside the Greer Hall.
Then all of a sudden, another name shot out of the cup, " Carina Black" Dumbledore called out.
Carina stood up with perfect confidence and grace, and then glared at the Slytherin table, until they all started applauding her, clearly thinking that she purposefully put her name into the Goblet of Fire to compete in the Tournament. She then took the piece of paper from Dumbledore and walked into the Champion's room with her head held high. Seeing this, Minerva McGonagall couldn't help be reminded of a certain young Sirius Black who possessed the same confidence, though she knew it wasn't such a stretch because this girl was obviously Regulus Black's daughter or so she thought.
While she made her way into the Champion's tent, everyone turned to look at her in utter shock, they could not believe that not one but two underage wizards had been selected as Triwizard champions. She could see James Potter, Lily Potter, Remus Lupin and her father crowding around Harry trying to calm him down, she felt a pang of jealously, part of her wished that her father would be comforting her instead of Harry, but she shook it off knowing that her father couldn't care less about her and instead had abandoned her and her mother to go and play happy families with the Potters and the Lupins.
All of a sudden, Dumbledore, Madame Maxine, Karkoroff and McGonagall entered the room, "Harry did you put your name in the Goblet?" Dumbledore asked calmly, Harry shook his head in response.
"Carina-"
"It is Miss Black to you." she interrupted sharply.
James, Lily, Remus, Harry and Sirius looked at her in surprise at this.
"Miss Black did you out your name into the Goblet of Fire."Dumbledore asked her.
"Of course not." she's snarled in response, everyone in the room looked extremely shocked at her tone of voice while speaking to one of the most powerful wizards of all time. "I refuse to speak any more on the matter until my uncle Regulus gets here, and I am highly certain that you have informed him Au revoir monsieur."
She then curtsied to Madame Maxine out of curtesy and respect for her Headmistress, something that she did not feel towards Dumbledore and gave Fleur a look that said that they would discuss this later.
As she turned to leave, Sirius's voice stopped her in her tracks. "You called Regulus your uncle, and since Dumbledore called you a Black, who are you parents?"
She turned to him, looking straight into his piercing grey eyes that mirrored her own, a snarl etched on her beautiful face.
James, Lily, Remus, Harry and Sirius all held their breath, looking expectantly at her.
"I am Carina Black, daughter of Magnolia Selwyn and Sirius Black."
Sirius's face paled at this.
Carina smirked at his reaction before continuing.
"Hello father."
