Chapter 1

This is inspired by a tweet I randomly seen by the user @/NECROISH where they tweeted "When I was 16 I got into a fistfight gave the guy a nosebleed and then ran away because I got hard" and knew right away I needed to make this story immediately, before the story starts just wanted to reiterate this is a SLOW burn and they won't be in high school for all it! ENJOY <333

Soobin at a very young age knew the type of person he wanted to grow up to be, the complete opposite of Choi Yeonjun. The younger had met the boy on an ill fated Tuesday afternoon in 5th grade. Soobin was doing what he always did during recess, read his favorite manga series while finishing up his homework early. His day was going how it always did; peacefully, that was until someone grabbed the book he was reading.

"What are you reading?"

The boy holding the book in his hands eyed the book while darting his eyes back to Soobin as well. Lips pouting with his eyebrows furrowed in pure confusion. Without answering back Soobin grabbed the book ignoring the boy in front of him as he continued to read.

"Not much of a talker I see...I wasn't judging. I was just curious."

The boy sat next to Soobin eyebrows still furrowed in confusion as he inched closer to look at the book. Rolling his eyes Soobin got up from the bench and started packing up, if there was something he hated more than mint chocolate ice cream it was being disrupted while he read. Before he could walk off the boy grabbed soobin by the wrist causing him to halt.

"Dude why are you being so weird? It's just a book"

The boy pouted a bit clearly visibly upset over Soobin's unwillingness to speak to him. It wasn't like Soobin was intentionally trying to be rude it was just a force of habit.

"What do you want?"

Soobin grabbed the boys hand while dropping it causing the boy to cough awkwardly at the fact he had grabbed Soobin. The boy's gaze deepen as he stared at Soobin, it was as if he was trying to read his mind to get some sort of understanding over the predicament.

"You seem lonely I wanted to talk to you. You always are either doing work or reading so I was curious on what exactly you were reading."

Soobin let out a scoff, something about the boy in front of him painting him out to be some lonely person boiled his blood. He wasn't lonely nor did he need to be pitied because of his actions. Soobin walked a bit closer to the boy eyes burning with annoyance.

"Now why exactly would you need to care if I seemed 'lonely' to you? Clearly you are the lonely one if all you do during recess is watch me"

The boy let out a harsh laugh while stepping closer to Soobin which his gaze was equally displaying annoyance over Soobin's actions. Soobin knew slightly that he was overreacting but being painted as the lone wolf who needed pitying was far from what Soobin wanted.

"Wow man" He started as he laughed harshly "You really are something. Consider this the first and last time I ever try to talk to your loser ass"

Soobin's eyes widen at the sudden diss thrown at him before he could retaliate back the boy quickly walked away anger oozing with each step. Soobin kept his eyes on him until he was out of his sight. The word 'loser' rang in his ears as he tried to calm himself down, Soobin was a strong person but being ridiculed was something he faced since he started school.

Nobody liked him because he was as they said "a recluse egotistical self proclaimed know it all who only has good grades to show off", their words not his. No one liked him due to the plain fact he was objectively smarter than the rest of his class–scratch that the whole grade and was not opened to making friends. It's not like Soobin doesn't want to make friends it's that he does not know how to and he is nervous of befriending someone who only wants to use him for a good grade. Avoiding everyone all together seemed like his best bet.

After the book incident with the boy Soobin started to notice the boy more and more which was the last thing he wanted to do. He was clearly popular and was always surrounded by people laughing and having fun whenever Soobin would see him. Sometimes they would make eye contact and the boy would give him a clear 'go to hell' expression for a lack of better words which would cause Soobin to frantically look away. Soobin quickly found out said boy's name was Choi Yeonjun from none other than a parasite he has been trying to get rid of, Choi Beomgyu.

Beomgyu self titled himself as Soobin's friend in first grade and has not stopped. Beomgyu is the complete opposite of Soobin deeming it impossible for him to clearly get the hints that Soobin would much rather not be his friend. Even if he did he would throw them away because to Beomgyu Soobin was his best friend, his words not Soobin's.

"Yeonjun is so cool! He is performing Lucifer by Shinee for the school dance later next week."

Beomgyu was practically drooling over the thought of Yeonjun performing, not in a romantic way but in a I idolize the ground you walk on way. Soobin's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he processed what Beomgyu had just said.

"Who is Yeonjun?"

Soobin said turning a page of his book partially tuning Beomgyu out. Beomgyu gasped dramatically covering his mouth with his eyes poking out threatening to fall out of his sockets any minute. Grabbing Soobin's book Beomgyu put it down on the ground before talking again.

"Have you been living under a rock all these years? How could you not know Choi Yeonjun...He is only a year above us and is quite impossible to miss like he's the most popular boy in our whole entire school"

"Yeah I still don't know who you are referring to"

Soobin grabbed his book again continuing where he was abruptly disrupted of. Before he could even find the page again Beomgyu took the book again placing it in the same spot. Shoving his phone in Soobin's face he pointed frantically at his phone

"You're telling me you have never seen him!"

Soobin's eyes settled on the picture and that's when he realized Beomgyu was in deed not wrong. He knew Yeonjun...he was the boy who he shut down harshly a couple days ago.

"Oh didn't know that was him, I've seen him around"

Soobin did not care to continue this Yeonjun talk so he grabbed his book again, "Don't grab my book again i'm not going to listen to this anymore" he said rolling his eyes.

Beomgyu sighed but nodded his head clearly use to Soobin's attitude. "Whatever princess. I'm going to stalk Yeonjun while you do that"

While walking to his usual spot Soobin noticed someone was sitting where he always sat for recess legs walking quicker than his brain could process Soobin was now in front of the person.

"Excuse me but that's my spot"

Turning around the boy was none other than Choi Yeonjun who gave him a cheeky smirk.

"Doesn't have your name on it though?" Yeonjun's tone was filled with sarcasm that was there to obviously purposefully piss Soobin off. Rolling his eyes Yeonjun turned around scribbling in his notebook again.

"Doesn't need to. It's mine. Get up" Soobin was now angry, who does this boy in front of him think he is?

"Watch your tone I'm older than you Soobinie" Yeonjun said turning his attention on Soobin eyes fulled locked onto the younger. Soobin's eyebrow raised in confusion as to how he knew his name and why he was calling him Soobinie of all names.

"First of all...How do you know my age and name? Second don't call me Soobinie and lastly get out of my spot"

"First of all, Choi Beomgyu. Second Soobinie, and lastly it's not yours like I said."

Of course Choi Beomgyu would willingly do that given his infatuation with Yeonjun. Anger coursing through his body Soobin knew he needed to get away from the elder before he did something irrational due to anger. Soobin's only flaw he would allow him to admit is his anger gets the absolute best of him. Counting down mentally from 10 Soobin did not say anything instead turning around and walking to another secluded spot. From behind him he could hear feet running towards him but he ignored them sitting down on the bare concrete fishing out his book. Before he could settle in someone had grabbed his book.

"You gave up so quickly. I see you have no self respect" Yeonjun scoffed throwing the book onto the ground.

This is it...this is going to be the reason Soobin get's in serious trouble in school. Soobin's fist clenched and without thinking he swiftly got up and grabbed Yeonjun by the collar slightly pushing him high due to the height difference.

"Leave me alone before I do something to ruin that face of yours" Soobin said through closed teeth eyes glaring intensely at the boy in front of him who's eyes were widen by the sudden visible force being used on him.

"Do it then loser" Yeonjun rolled his eyes as he held Soobin's grip tighter provoking him. It was clearly working as Soobin lifted one hand and as he was going to swing he felt a hand grab it. Turning around he noticed Beomgyu was panting while grabbing Soobin's right arm.

"Hyung! Don't hit him" Beomgyu's eyes seemed terrified which for some reason caused Soobin to feel...guilty? Unhanding Yeonjun he looked at the boy who was already staring at him while smirking. "Pussy" he mouthed to Soobin. Soobin was about to lose it when Beomgyu stood in front of him breaking his gaze from Yeonjun to him now.

"Hyung...don't do something stupid. Let's go" Beomgyu grabbed Soobin forcing him away from the other boy who continued to stare at the two.

Ever since that day Yeonjun continued to poke the bear, which was Soobin. He would bump into him 'accidentally' causing him to drop his books. He would steal his spot at recess no matter where he was going to sit at. He even took it so far to throw small things at him. He continuously would berate him verbally and instead of beating the lights out of him Soobin chose to be silent. Not because he wanted to but because seeing Beomgyu look terrified at him caused him to second guess just how much he disliked the title of Beomgyu being his friend, also not caring about people's perception of him. Soobin did not want to scare away his only genuine friend so he vowed to himself to not beat the hell out of Yeonjun.
