First Day
Remus, as Sirius had asked, started to read out loud, though a bit reluctantly.
«September the 2nd, 1940.
I've had the best days of my life so far. I couldn't write yesterday because I was too busy with everything. Too amazed too.
Yesterday was my first day at Hogwarts. I was a bit nervous, but in a good way. My sister, Walpurga, insisted on being with me all the time. She bragged me to her usual compartment in the train, and I was awkward and I didn't like being there. I didn't know anyone, and everyone was way older than me. I think she did that to stop me from making friends with "blood traitors", as my family calls them. I still don't understand what it means, and why it's so important. But anyway, I don't care.
I managed to escape from my sister's clutches, pretending to go to the bathroom, and went down the hallway to explore the train. It's really nice, and huge. There were a lot of people, kids my age and some out of age kids. In the hallway, a lady was passing by with a cart full of all kinds of candy, and I couldn't help but buy a few. But I didn't eat them all, I kept them. Just in case I made any friends other than my sister's, who looked very uptight and cold. Well, like the rest of my family.
As I kept wandering through the hallway, I bumped into someone. It wasn't easy to bump into someone, the train is really big and the hallway was so wide. Anyway, I bumped into a boy, my age. He has brown messy hair and freckles all over his face. And had these warm honey eyes, nothing like my family's cold grey ones. Well, and also mine... He was wearing what seemed to be muggle clothes, but later I found out that he was also from a pureblood family, like mine. Still don't know what that means, but I'll find out. His name is Lyall Lupin. He was so funny. We spoke for the rest of the train journey, and even after we got off of it. Fortunately, the first years went to school in some kind of boats, apart from the students of other years. And apart from my sister. Lyall is so nice, it's so easy to speak to him. All we did was chat and chat and never stop talking about everything. I really like him.
When we reached the castle, we were all bragged in, in front of a huge wood door that apparently led to the Great Hall. A man who seemed to be in his early 60s, called Albus Dumbledore, greeted us all. He was the headmaster of the house Gryffindor, the one my family has hated since ever. So, he explained to us that we were going to be sorted in one of the different houses; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The muggle-born students were amazed by the hugeness of the school and the magic around us. I got sorted in Slytherin, as everyone was expecting, and when I sat down next to my sister I saw her smiling a bit. It's the first time I've ever seen her smile. Lyall was sorted into Ravenclaw. It fits him, he is really clever. But I wish I was in the same house as him, we could spend so much time together...
Today was my first day of school officially. We didn't do much, the teachers introduced themselves and explained what we were going to do in their subject. I have History of Magic with Lyall, which is great, because just from the introduction I can tell is going to be a boring subject, and having Lyall with me is definitely gonna make it better. After classes, we've been hanging out in the gardens, and a Gryffindor student has joined us. His name's Fleamont Potter. He's really nice, and easy to talk to. He has a bit of an ego, but he's really nice.
Apparently, it's not usual for students from different houses to be friends, by how the older students were looking at us.
My cousin Orion is also in Hogwarts. Of course, he's in Slytherin. He and Wallie are watching me, making sure I hang with the "right people." I think they don't like my friends. But it isn't them who have to like them, is it?»
The entry ended there. Clearly, Alphard had had to go to bed, since he had classes the next day. Remus couldn't believe that Sirius' uncle had been friends with his father and James' father. It was shocking, actually.
Sirius was smirking as Remus finished reading, knowing what he might be thinking. And what was to come...
