"What is this feeling"
Over the next few weeks Luna and Harry hung out frequently but never really spoke, mostly they’d just follow each other around between classes with their noses stuck in their books. The pair began spending so much time together in fact that rumors had begun flying around the castle that they were in love, not that either of them stopped reading long enough to hear them.
“Luna!” Harry called down the corridor as he saw the blonde haired girl leaving her first class of the day. Harry ran over to Luna as fast as he could, Luna simply stood still for a moment, waiting for Harry to catch her. “What is it Harry?” Luna asked expectantly as Harry caught his breath. “I got the next Percy Jackson book for you! My Uncle Moony sent it this Morning!” Harry said enthusiastically. Luna’s eyes lit up with excitement. “I’ve been dying to read that since I finished the last one! Where is it?!” Luna asked. “It’s back at my dorm, I’ll give it to you at my next break. I just wanted to tell you that it finally arrived.” Harry explained with a smile. Luna looked around herself to make sure there weren’t any professors within earshot. “Why don’t we just skip class and go get it now.” Luna suggested quietly so that no one would hear except Harry.
“I don’t know about that..” Harry said tentatively. “Come on, Harry, What’s a little detention, it’s basically just an hour of uninterrupted reading time.” Luna said, taking hold of Harry’s arm with a convincing look on her face. Harry couldn’t argue with that logic so the pair quickly yet quietly began to head down to the dungeons.
Once the bell rang and the pair were officially late Harry had an idea. Harry reached into his bag and pulled out the map his Papa had given to him on platform 9 ¾. “Wait, Luna. We can use this to sneak in without anyone noticing.” Harry said, showing Luna the map. “What is it?” Luna asked, taking it out of Harry’s hands. Harry held his wand to the map and clearly said, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” and the map transformed before Luna’s eyes. “The marauder’s map?” Luna said curiously. “It has all of these hidden passageways on it and it allows you to see where everyone is in the castle.” Harry explained. “This is brilliant Harry!” Luna exclaimed.
The pair eventually made it to the Slytherin common room without being caught and walked up the stairs to the boys dorms breathing a sigh of relief. “That was pretty fun, sneaking around and breaking the rules.” Luna said with a small smile. “Ya, it was. Though I’m sure Snape'll kill me for it.” Harry said with a smile.
When Harry finally opened the door to his dorm room he was shocked to find Draco in the room already. “Oh, what are you doing here Draco?” Harry asked, walking over to his desk and picking up the book he got for Luna. “I could ask you the same thing.” Draco asked, standing up from his bed. Draco looked to his left and saw Luna standing in the doorway. “What is she doing here?” Draco asked with a sense of anger in his voice. Though the rumors about Harry and Luna had flown over Harry’s head they certainly hadn’t flown over Draco’s head. Draco didn’t know why but something about hearing that Harry was seeing a girl made him jealous, and when he saw that same girl standing in the doorway of their shared dorm room skipping class with Harry Draco’s Jealousy turned to anger.
“Why do you care?” Harry asked, walking closer to Draco. “I don’t.” Draco said simply, “I guess I’ll give you two some privacy then.” Draco walked out of the room, his blood still boiling. “Ya, you do that.” Harry encouraged Draco.
Once Draco was down the hall Luna shut the door and took the book from Harry, taking a seat on the ground next to Harry’s bed. “I’m sorry about him, he’s such a prick.” Harry said apologetically as he took a seat on the ground next to Luna. Luna gave Harry a curious look, “Really?” She asked. “Ya, since we got here we’ve fought about the stupidest things everyday.” Harry explained. “I think you may be reading Draco all wrong.” Luna said simply. “What do you mean? Every time I do something that even slightly pisses him off he feels the need to draw his wand at me.” Harry explained. “And when he threatens you does he usually push you up against a wall or get really close to you?” Luna asked. “Ya.” Harry replied with a curious look on his face. “It sounds more like he’s in love with you.” Luna said, as if she was stating the obvious. “What?! Draco is not… He’s not… Look he’s not even gay so how could he be in love with me.” Harry said, shocked. “He seems pretty gay to me.” Luna replied.
Harry sat silently for a moment in thought as Luna opened the book in her hands and began reading. “What makes you think that he’s in love with me?” Harry asked after a few moments of silence. “Well if you’re so uninterested why should you care.” Luna said, teasing Harry. “Lunnnnaaaa, just tell me!” Harry exclaimed eagerly. “Look, I’m not saying I’m one hundred percent sure he’s into you. I just think that maybe he’s not mean to you because he hates you. Now, if you like him too I suggest that the next time he has his wand to your throat instead of pushing him away, maybe try pulling him closer to you.” Luna suggested. Harry’s face turned bright red. “Well, that’s not going to happen because I hate him as much as he hates me.” Harry said dismissively. “Right…” Luna said, clearly not believing a word Harry had said.
Though Harry still didn’t believe Luna he couldn’t help but wonder if maybe she was right. He wondered if maybe, just maybe Draco wasn’t as cold hearted as he seemed to be.
