Chapter 13

“Sev… I was wondering… should I tell my friends that we’re dating?” Hermione asked cautiously, clutching onto Professor Snape’s arm as they made their way back to Hogwarts.

“Absolutely not, I’m afraid,” he hissed, shooting her a sharp look.

Hermione suddenly stopped in her tracks. “Please… I mean, they’re going to find out sooner or later. It’s only Harry and Ron, I promise!” She pleaded, tugging at his sleeve.

Snape gave her a sideways glance before sighing in defeat. “Fine. But only Potter and Weasley. No one else, understood?”

“Yes! Thank you, Sevy! I love you so much!” Hermione squealed, jumping into his arms and smothering him with kisses, making the usually composed professor chuckle.

“Ugh, you’re actually so annoying, Granger,” Snape muttered, but the amusement in his voice was undeniable.

The next day…

“Harry! Ron! Over here!” Hermione called, already seated at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall. Despite it being Monday morning, she was the first to arrive.

“This is way too early for me,” Ron groaned, resting his head on Harry’s shoulder.

Harry pushed him away, and Ron slumped onto the table, staring blankly at the food in front of him. Unfortunately, the Monday morning blues had killed his appetite.

“Do you have something to tell us, Hermione? You made such a big deal about us being on time yesterday,” Harry said through a yawn, picking up a piece of bread and lazily chewing on it.

“Right… So… I have something to tell you two, but you’re not allowed to tell anyone.” She lowered her voice. “Promise?”

Knowing that Hermione’s life would be at stake if her best friends leaked this secret, she had to warn them first.

“Promise,” they both said in unison.

“I’m dating Professor Snape. Please don’t scream—”

Too late.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”

Their voices echoed across the Great Hall, drawing every pair of eyes toward them.

“Excuse me? I trust you are both aware that students are not permitted to… scream in the Great Hall,” came a familiar, cold voice.

Hermione ducked her head immediately as Snape strode over to them, standing directly in front of her. He arched an eyebrow, his face unreadable.

“N-nothing, sir! We were just, um, talking about… homework,” Harry blurted out, clearly not thinking before he spoke.

“Homework?” Ron mumbled under his breath, stifling a laugh.

“Mr. Weasley, I do not find that amusing. If I hear the three of you shouting like that again, I will be speaking to Professor McGonagall in person,” Snape warned before sweeping away.

As soon as he was out of earshot, Ron turned to Hermione with a horrified expression. “Hermione! Are you serious?? Him??”

Hermione sighed. “Guys… I told you because I didn’t want to keep lying to you, but I really hope you’ll respect my choice.”

Harry let out a breath. “Well… yeah, we will. Right, Ron? Even if it’s the old, grumpy Potions Master.”

“Even if it’s the old, grumpy Potions Master,” Ron echoed with a dramatic sigh.

“Guys!!” Hermione laughed, shaking her head as the trio ran out of the Great Hall together.
