THE MARAUDERS
As soon as Remus let them in James was everywhere.
“MOONYYYY”, the reckless retriever screamed, throwing his arms around the blonde’s neck, “Oh how I’ve missed you so.” James then turned on Sirius and Remus whispered a desperate plea upon any god willing to hear him.
“Officer Potter? Pettigrew?”, the heir questioned. Remus forgot that the three had met briefly before during one of his vandalism charges.
James offered him a hearty handshake and smiled crookedly, “Just call me James, and that over there is Pete”, Peter waved from the doorway where he was greeting Remus, “fancy to finally meet the bloke who's been driving Moony mad.” Mad? Huh that was some new information. He really hoped he wasn’t causing Lupin too much trouble.
“Good to properly meet you too James. Now where are we going? Blondie wouldn’t tell me.”, Sirius was genuinely curious on where the three planned to take him. Though he didn’t care all that much as long as it was out of this flat.
Before he knew it they had arrived at some kind of blank looking warehouse. Sirius had no idea what lay inside and was nearly convinced the three had planned to kidnap him. I mean it wouldn’t be the worst idea, but he was doubtful Maman was looking to pay ransom for him just yet. James parked the car right at the entrance and Remus stepped out of the passenger side door. Peter looked almost nostalgic as he took in the beige hunk of cement and brick. Okay, now Sirius was really worried.
“What is this place?”, he asked skeptically, and whilst judging his life choices. None of them struck him as professional criminals. However, he could always be wrong.
“Oh, don’t worry”, James said, clapping Sirius on the back, “we used to take Moony here all the time.” Remus rolled his eyes and scoffed.
The blonde then turned to Sirius and reassured him, “It’s nothing scary, just somewhere to work out your frustration. We used to use it when working a particularly touchy case.” He felt calmer knowing it wasn’t some kind of torture dungeon, but his hesitation was quickly replaced with curiosity. What could be in here that would relieve an anger such as his? Thankfully he didn’t have to wait long for his answer as the group made their way to the door. It was cold and faintly smelled of metal and rust remover, but it wasn’t intimidating. The inside was lit up with bright LEDs that shocked Sirius. The unassuming building had just turned into something he had seen only once before. A Rage Room.
The place was lined with smashable objects, tables, chairs, old TV sets, the works. In the center a bold neon sign in red lettering assigned the place a name, “The Marauders”. Under the sign were an array of bats and wood chunks to smash the room with. How did Remus know this was what he needed? How did any of them find this in the first place? His head swam with questions but the most potent one was, where to begin? He strutted to the center and picked up a bat that seemed to be made of ash wood. He spun it in his hands and turned to face the other three, his eyes glinting with barely contained fury.
“Let’s get to smashing boys.”
At least an hour later Sirius finally threw down his bat. There was a mess of splintered wood and broken glass in his wake, but he had to admit that he felt ultimately better. After seeing his mother and Remus all he could feel was rage. Now he had expelled it onto objects designed for such a feat of emotion. He licked his lips and went to find the rest of the crew. By now he knew that they called themselves the marauders due to this place. During the smashing he had gotten a low down on their origins as friends. Apparently Peter knew about the place first as a cousin of his built it, one day he invited James and another day James invited Remus. The place had birthed their friendship, and from what he gathered they came here often enough that Pete’s cousin had a constant supply in the back just for them. Sirius figured he fit into their little group now too, he was an honorary Marauder.
They hadn’t stayed long after that and after James and Peter dropped them home they rode off, something about having to check a case at the station. Remus had waved them goodbye and told them he would see the pair on Monday. Sirius had forgotten that eventually he would be left alone in the house without anyone to keep him company. He knew there was top notch security installed around the flat, there was no way for him to leave. He felt panic settle in his gut at the thought of being caged like he was Maman’s lab rat. Only Remus had the code out and Sirius knew better than to try and get it from him, whatever Maman was holding over his head was far too serious for that (ha Sirius). Sirius’ best bet was to lay low and get closer to his watchdog, bide his time and wait for an opportunity to strike. He was going to get out of here, if it was the last thing he’d do.
