It is expected of you
“Why Draco?”
Tears welled up in Hermione’s eyes as she finally realized the reason they had spent all this time repairing the vanishing cabinet.
“Because I have to do as the Dark Lord commands Granger.”
Her eyes flicked to his left forearm, to where she knew the Mark was permanently burned into his pale skin.
“Because,” she swallowed down a sob. “It is what is expected of you.”
The silence between them was definitive, as Hermione turned on her heel and ran.
She ran until she found herself in the dungeons, her rage finally finding a target as she tore his office door open.
“Did you know?” She screams as soon as the door shuts and re-wards behind her. If he’s surprised at her appearance, he doesn't show it. “Did you fucking know about Draco?”
The silence that rings through the air between them is answer enough. For the second time that night, she feels the sting of betrayal from someone she thought she could trust.
