Everyone’s nearly finished breakfast when Hiyoko and Mahiru walk back into the cafeteria, their faces blushed. They see on the table there’s two plates of food waiting for them. They begin eating.
At the other end of the hall, Hajime and Nagito are sat across each other at a table isolated from the rest of their class. They figured now would probably be the best time to discuss their relationship, after all, it wasn’t a conversation that could be put off forever.
“Oh look there’s Hiyoko and Mahiru.” Hajime points out. “I wonder what happened…”
“I know what happened!” Nagito beams. “The hope in Mahiru helped heal Hiyoko! It’s a wonderful thing, truly.”
“God you’re always on about hope aren’t you Nagito?”
“Hope is our purpose Hajime! Surely you would know that out of all of us! I mean, you don’t even remember your ultimate and yet you’re still so hopeful!”
Hajime giggled and shook his head. “Can we talk… about us?”
“What do you mean?”
Hajime sighed. “I guess I just want to know where you see this going, what you would even class ‘this’ as. I truly care about you Nagito but if we don’t put a label on it soon I don’t know if i’ll be able to stay much longer.”
Nagito’s smile weakened a bit. “Oh well… I guess if you want us to label it we can. I’m truly in love with the hop- no, I’m truly in love with you Hajime, I don’t want to loose that. So label us whatever, I don’t care. As long as we can spend the rest of our days together.”
“Do you want to be my boyfriend Nagito?” Hajime asked. It came off a lot more direct than he meant, but Nagito didn’t mind. In fact he enjoyed it
“Of course Hinata.”
They both sort of froze. It hit them, they were actually together now. All the months of waiting about for each other to make a move, that was over now.
For Nagito, it felt freeing. Finally, the boy he’s been in love with asked him out. He felt worth something for once. Everything he ever did, led up to this moment. All his luck, it landed him here.
As for Hajime, it felt suffocating. He’d never been in a queer relationship before, he didn’t know how to go about alot of the things that come with it. He’d always had such an overwhelming love for Nagito and now it was official, it became even more overwhelming.
“Are we going to tell the others?” Hajime asks.
“Maybe, let’s only tell a few people. I have a funny feeling if we go about telling everyone, it’ll get made into a huge deal. I think we can both agree neither of us want that.”
They both nod and agree.
“I think the first person we tell should probably be someone we’re both close to.” Nagito suggests.
“Ohh you mean-“
