For What it’s Worth: Outline
Summary
About three years ago, I had anabsolutely batshit crazy idea for a Harry Potter fanfiction. It started with a text to my friend where I asked “What if Severus Snape, Lily Evans, and James Potter were in a throuple?” I ended up plotting the whole thing out, creating playlists, and even drawing some art for the fic. This is a collection of all those things. I may or may not ever get around to writing it, but I thought people would appreciate it. Feel free to write from my outline and world building, but please list this as inspiration or send it to me if you do! I would love to see it!(Note: This is as gay as humanly possible for the sole purpose of pissing off TERF. K. Rowling.)

First Wizarding War Timeline

THE FIRST BLOOD WARS

[1978]

  • Tobias Snape passes away. Severus buries him and inherits his Spinners End home.

    • Severus begins trying to find an in with the Death Eaters as everyone else sets up shop in the Order of the Phoenix. Most of the Magicians who were in his year or above turn their noses up at him— he has nothing to offer. Lucius Malfoy becomes interested in his potions talents, however, and starts slowly bringing him into the fold.
    • Lily pushes off putting any effort into her future. She takes a very cynical view of the war, which concerns both Severus and James.

  • Remus Lupin leaves for his first stint amongst the werewolves, collecting information for the order.

    • The Order begins planning raids in an attempt to catch some of the Death Eaters. It doesn’t go well.

  • After several years of struggling to get pregnant, as well as many miscarriages, Narcissa Black Malfoy gives birth to her daughter, Diana Iphigenia Malfoy, in August.

    • Regulus, who was all but marked the previous year, doesn’t return to Hogwarts at Walpurga’s request. She doesn’t take her NEWTS. Sirius corners Regulus on a street in Muggle Blackpool. He pleads with her to not take the mark, and she demands to know why he’s trying to take responsibility for her now. She tells him it’s too late and to not come after her again.
    • To prove his loyalty, Severus is tasked with trying to convince James and Lily to join Voldemort’s forces. With some clever magic, he manages to manipulate a memory in which the three discussed Voldemort at length and trashed him. The memory works, and Severus is officially brought into the fold, though not marked yet. Dumbledore and Moody begin feeding him information and task him with isolating himself from other order members to prevent him from knowing too much. He brushes up on the occlumency his mother taught him as a child, and manages to hide his connection to James and Lily from both Voldemort and Dumbledore.
    • Attacks against those of mixed blood and muggles grow more prominent.
    • In her desperation to not hurt anyone, Regulus plays up a cowardly persona and begins perfecting her experimental spell based on Elf apparition that works within the death eater’s anti-apparition wards. (The Delta Spell. It’s rune based, and what the Order bases the nickname Daedalus off of, much to Daedalus Diggle’s frustration.) When Hestia Jones is targeted by the Death Eater’s, she finally is forced to use it. She has no idea if it works— Hestia Jones does not reappear after this.
    • Benji Fenwick reaches out to Petunia, pleading with her to help in transporting and healing the Joneses. Petunia, apprenticed under Dearbourne reluctantly agrees. He seals the deal by destroying the record of her training under Dearbourne, and getting Dumbledore to seal her school records.  (Hestia and her family were sent to Fenwick's summer home. Benji and Caradoc Dearbourne heal her, then help her flee to MAGUSA with her family.)
    • Both Euphemia Potter and Lily’s mother pass away. Lily shows up briefly to help with funeral arrangements, but doesn’t stay through the whole funeral as she is called in to assist with a raid by Alice Longbottom, who she’s partnered with for most missions.
    • Remus returns from his information gathering to debrief with Dumbledore, after he goes to visit Lily and James. While at their safe house, Petunia shows up and tears into Lily about how she’s been a bad daughter and she’s only going to get herself killed fighting in the war. Lily protests, saying that it’s their right to exist in the Magical world. Petunia doesn’t see the point, and says that any world that wants them dead is one Lily shouldn’t want to be a part of. She slams her wand down on the table and leaves.
    • Remus follows her and asks her if she’s sure about her decision. He convinces her to go for a drink with him, for old time’s sake. “We’ve never gotten a drink together.” “Wouldn’t you like your last memory of the wizarding world to be something other than you blowing up at your sister?” They get a drink. Then they hook up yay.
    • Remus starts dating Sirius again soon after.
    • Lily has a conversation with Marlene McKinnon about her fight with Petunia. Marlene also chews her out, telling her she’s allowed to live, even if it is a war. “If they take everything from you— your future, your grief, your family; It won’t matter if we win the war. They’ll have won in all the ways that matter.” Lily promises to consider it.
    • Severus passes on a bit of information that proves instrumental in the failure of an order raid, and the death of Marlene McKinnon and her family. The throuple grieve together, and cope in not super healthy ways. Lily suggests they get married. “It’s something Marlene said.” “What, that we should plan and throw a wedding in the middle of a war that you’re the direct target of.” “No. Just… the best way to fight. To win against them… it’s to be happy anyway. To be sad, angry. To live, not just sleep in between raids and massacres.” So they start planning the wedding.
    • Severus, because of the information he provided, is brought into Voldermort’s inner fold, along with Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix LeStrange, and Regulus Black. Regulus begins noticing strange patterns in Voldemort’s bravado that leads to her suspecting he’s created Horcruxes, though she doesn’t know what he’s done until she researches methods of immortality in several different dark libraries. Lucius receives the Diary from Voldemort.

  • James and Sirius fully commit to Auror training.

[1979]

    • Benji and Sirius try to discover who the Magician saving their operatives and muggle targets of the Death Eater’s is. They nickname the Magician Daedalus, much to the complaint of Auror Daedalus Diggle. They don’t manage to find much information on them, as those saved by Daedalus refuse to give a description.
    • Benji manages to track down Petunia, who reluctantly agrees to shelter and assist in healing some of the muggleborns attempting to flee the wizarding world. She uses the Evans’ childhood home for this, while lying to Vernon about reparing it for sale.
    • Regulus begins compiling a document containing the crimes committed by the Death Eaters, supported by her own memories, statements from those she rescues, and accounts of the information she finds in newspapers.
    • Remus goes back into the field after a blow up fight he has with Sirius, enraged that he slept with Petunia before she left.
    • Lily, James and Severus get married in April. (The Severus part of the Marraige is a secret.) Lily sends an invite to Petunia, but she doesn’t attend. She sends a wedding gift though; The Necklace she and their mother wore on their wedding days. Publicly, only James and Lily get married. After that ceremony, they have a smaller, more private one, attended only by Remus and Sirius. Sirius begrudgingly officiates the magic bond and Remus serves as witness.
    • The three take a brief weekend honeymoon. It’s cute.
    • Voldemort becomes paranoid about his Horcruxes and begins checking on them.
    • After being attacked on the street, by a group including Regulus, Lucius Malfoy and several other death eaters, Caradoc Dearborne and Peter Pettigrew go missing. Peter turns up about a week later, claiming he was lying low. He passes muster with Dumbledore, and begins spying on the Order for the Death Eaters.
    • Things quiet down for a while. Order members get a chance for domestic life, but are still paranoid.

  • Sirius and James graduate from their Auror training and officially enter the field.
  • Peter begins sowing discord about the possibility of multiple traitors being within the order, Specifically targeting Severus and Remus.

    • Lily discovers she’s pregnant. There are tears all around.
    • Peter tips the Death Eaters off about the location of a safe house. The Death Eaters, including Regulus and Severus, carry out a raid of their own. Most of the order members staying at the house manage to escape, except for Lily and James, barricaded in an upstairs room, and Benji and one of his patients hiding in the basement. Regulus evacuates Benji after faking his death by destroying the body of his patient, who died due to a stray hex hitting them in the hall. Severus, after killing the Death Eater trying to get to James and Lily, is left behind and captured.
    • James and Lily blow up at Severus, who refuses to speak during interrogation. His cover is essential— no one in the order is supposed to know he’s a spy. A death eater, led by Voldemort’s instructions, breaks into the Auror holding room and retrieves Severus. He hits Lily with a hex that causes her to miscarry.
    • Severus breaks contact with James and Lily after being scolded by Dumbledore. They don’t know he’s fulfilling his Order Assignment— they just think he’s a traitor. Peter continues to sow discord.
    • Petunia gets knocked up oops.
    • Benji turns up, saying he was rescued by Daedalus. He refuses to name them as well, in order to Protect Regulus. “Secrets only stay that way when people don’t talk.” He’s benched, to protect the fact that he’s still alive, but continues working as a healer within the safe houses.
    • The Order takes the picture.
    • Voldemort takes Kreacher to the Cave.
    • Regulus compiles all her research and the dossier and leaves them in Sirius’ room, hidden in a cabinet he put into the wall behind a poster.
    • Orion Black passes away. Sirius attends the funeral in disguise, then gets into a fight with Regulus when she leaves the event early. He’s suspicious that she’s planning something. Regulus reveales during the fight that the only reason she joined the death eater’s was so Sirius didn’t have to. She aparates away. Sirius discovers he’s finally been locked out of the Black Family wards. This is the last time that Sirius sees Regulus
    • Regulus goes to the cave, and retrieves the locket. She plans to die in the cave, instructing Kreacher to leave her, but he rescues Regulus anyway and takes her to the Fenwick summer home.
    • Benji finds her and nurses her back to health. Regulus continues to try to kill herself, and completes another copy of the dossier that she gives to Benji. Benji censors her name from the document and begins attempting to secure a pardon from Dumbledore.
    • James begins babysitting Regulus, as Benji doesn’t trust her to be alone without hurting herself.
    • Over the few weeks he watches her, James and Regulus become tentative friends. He tries to understand her actions, as well as why she left Sirius at his house, but didn’t stay. James learns that Regulus is Daedalus.
    • Benji secures Regulus’s pardon, as well as fudged documents creating a new identity for her: Rhea Atalanta Mavros. (Mavros meaning Black in Greek.) He sends her to New Orleans, MAGUSA, to live with Hestia and her family. James drives them to the Airport using Remus’s truck. Lana ends up telling James her name.

  • Officially, Regulus Arcturus Black goes missing.

  • [Atalanta arrives in New Orleans, MAGUSA to a happy Hestia Jones. The two reunite tearfully. Hestia encourages her to look into getting a job and pursuing further education. Her and Lana get a job in a muggle (it’s nonmagus) coffee shop and absolutely hate it.)]
  • [Lana, using the Healer’s note from Benji and her new records, tries to get set up on a transition regiment of potions. She’s denied the first few times, but is eventually accepted. She begins to medically transition.]
  • Lily gets pregnant again in late November.

[1980]

  • Aurors are authorized to use unforgivables.

    • [Lana doesn’t have her NEWTS, so she sits for her MSAT (Magician Scholastic Aptitude Test), and MACT (Magical American College Test) tests in order to apply for college.]
    • [Lana and Tia begin taking classes at a local Community Coven.]
    • Alice and Frank become high-priority targets of the Death Eater’s as they begin to take out larger and larger chunks of Voldemort’s forces, both on their raids, and in their official Auror work. Lily and James become targets as well for similar reasons, after Severus is once again set out to recruit them. He “actually tries” this time, and at the end of their meetings, Lily slips him her and James’ rings, kissing the hand she tucks them in.
    • The Longbottoms and Potters go into hiding.
    • Peter convinces Sirius that Remus might be a spy.
    • Things begin to go wrong: More order members disappear or get murdered, especially with Daedalus going inactive, and Muggle Murders also begin occurring more frequently as Bellatrix and her underlings grow more fanatic.
    • [Lana discovers the Queer Magician community and starts making friends in it.]
    • In May, Dumbledore interviews Sybil Trelawney, and hears the prophecy. Severus lurks around and is “caught” by Aberforth. After confirming with Dumbledore, he passes the information on to Voldemort.
    • Lily and James manage to break into Spinners End, and have a conversation with Severus. They make up, then share the news that Lily is pregnant again. Severus begins seeing them again occasionally.
    • [Lana and Hestia apply to study at the New Salem University in Upstate New York. Getting Accepted there is a breeze for the two brilliant witches. Getting the funding for their education is another story.]
    • [The two start saving up money for their tuition. Being “foreign” students, their tuition is more expensive.]

  • Draco Malfoy is born June 5th.

    • Dudley Dursley is born June 23rd. Petunia hates the name, but obliges to please Vernon. Privately, and in letters she begins exchanging with Lily, she calls him Lee.

  • Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom are born in July. (30th, 31st)

  • Severus realizes that His family and the Longbottoms are possible targets. He pleads with Dumbledore to hide them better, and Dumbledore begins researching methods. Severus says one last farewell to his family, and Lily gets three pictures: One of the three of them with Harry, (The one Severus Rips), one of him with James, and one of Severus holding Harry as he sleeps.
  • The war effort begins to look more and more hopeless.
  • Igor Karkaroff is captured, Evan Rosier and Wilkes are killed during the battle. Rosier takes a chunk out of Mad Eye’s nose. Karkaroff agrees to cut a deal, but only if his conditions are met.
