Chapter 2
Jame’s POV
James wasn’t stupid. He could see the dark circles under Sirius eyes, his tangled mess of hair, how scarily thin Sirius was getting, it worried him. It worried him alot. James doesn't know how to make it any better though. He’s still mad at Sirius, furious. But he was still his brother and it was hard seeing how far down he was falling and not being able to help him.
It’s been three long weeks. Remus tries to act normal. He hadn’t properly talked about it at all since that night except to tell Lilly last week which James didn't see. It’s scary seeing how normal he act’s. James can still see it through the smiles he stretches too tight, staring off into the distance as if waiting for someone to come around the corner. It’s heartbreaking watching Remus act like the love of his life just never existed.
James wants to fix it, make amends, but James doesn't know if Remus will ever even talk about it, not to mention talk to Sirius.
James, Remus and Peter were all chilling in the common room. You could feel something missing without Sirius' presence filling up the space. Peter was scribbling away at his transfiguration homework “ugh i wish Sirius was here he was always so good at transfi..” Remus slammed his book shut. “N.no wait um.. So…sorry remus..” “It's fine I'm going to bed” with that Remus stormed upstairs. “Rem..” James deflated “Fuck” he muttered. “Sorry James I’m so sorry” “It's ok Peter really” James smiled. Peter is quiet for a moment “James” he said tentatively. “Are you worried.. about Sirius” James stilled “Ya Pete. I am. But honestly I don't think I have it in me to care ""Ok” Peter said quietly going back to his homework. James stared off into the distance, he should care and he does. But he can't be so mad at Sirius. He betrayed Remus, betrayed all of them. Who knows what would have happened if James hadn’t stopped Snape and obliviated that night's memories from him.
James stares at the map. Sirius isn’t on it so he must be in the room of requirements. That makes him both fuming that Sirius is probably having the time of his life in there and also glad that at least he has somewhere to go. James sighs and turns over. This summer's going to be awkward.
